Visit the Realms - The Royal Forest

Some said that the Royal Forest was blessed by the gods. And even though conflicts had come throughout its history to disturb the serenity of the place, it was a dreamland for all: calm ponds, with soothing waters, sheltered by the benevolent canopies of the forest trees; singing rivers, like crystalline vessels of life; and rich lands, conducive to farming, where the King's herds grazed peacefully.
Sometimes, a few remnants of past wars could be spotted in this lush and vibrant landscape—some ruins of stone already overtaken by ivy, nature reclaiming its rights over a misstep. However, they existed for the inhabitants of the Kingdom as a memory, but also as a warning, a totem where each person silently vowed to defend this little piece of paradise with body and soul.

From the tall towers of the castle, the King watched over his people with the kindness of a man tested by years of rustic existence. He, who had worked so hard all his life to maintain the peace of the Kingdom, his beard and hair now graying, reassured himself by knowing that his subjects were unaware of all the energy and cunning deployed to preserve the sweetness of life in the Royal Forest. Yet sometimes, the King felt his heart gripped by a visceral, incomprehensible fear—the fear of falling asleep in the serenity of peace and waking up in the midst of a nightmare.

However, it had been a long time since goblins and other Lords had shown threatening behavior toward him. The Northern Kingdoms remained quiet, embroiled in their own conflicts and contradictions. The desert was silent, its creatures sleeping within. The steel of his sword itself no longer sang with the same intensity as in his younger years. So why did he not allow himself to embrace peace, the King wondered, leaning on one of the railings of his castle, his usually cheerful and merry gaze fixed on the roof of the Trader's little shop, which continued to thrive, equipping passing adventurers, hunters, and villagers with items forged by the strength of their arms. The King smiled. He had a deep friendship for these two young people, who worked hard to make their little shop shine, with a passion that reminded him of his own. With what they had gone through together, fighting goblins and other monsters, the King felt a sense of calm: he knew he could count on brave companions, no matter what fate had in store for him and his lands.

The King let out a light sigh and shook himself: no, really, what could happen that he should be wary of?

Environment

Despite the Royal Kingdom and adjacent Royal Forest being the birthplace and home to the King, his Advisor and all the Kingdom’s other inhabitants for so many years, there’s still hidden corners to be discovered, no one seems to have ever laid eyes on. While quirky recluses like Guido manage to settle down in some of the more deserted glades and places, the Royal Forest still houses many secrets. Take those ominous Obelisks that suddenly showed up out of nowhere, for example. What mystery could they possibly be hiding?

Enemies

On the brink of an event that is threatening to shake the realm's pillars of harmony to their very foundations, unknown forces are emerging to taint and destroy everything that is pure and innocent. What is it that our brave Warriors have to face and who is behind all this?

When designing the Royal Forest, two things were of special importance to us:

  • It should visually serve as a serene home to all the Royal Revolt protagonists we have grown to love over the years. A peaceful spot of nature with all the green and small rivers one could ever dream of - a place worth fighting for.

  • At the same time, it should hold remnants of past conflicts, residue of war, reminding us of what once was. A place that is also clearly located close to the very kingdom players have been able to experience in previous franchise titles.

When the events of Royal Revolt Warriors kick off, we want it to be a place where we put ourselves on the line to protect. Not showing a single sign of what is about to happen.

Now please enjoy some of the Concept Art we created during the early development stages:

Have you ever walked down the villages of the Royal Forest and met the Trader? For how long have you known this peaceful place? Let us know in the comments!

Feature Spotlight - Trinkets

In the Realms, conflict and war are as familiar as the dawn. His Majesty the King has faced them throughout his life, savoring the fleeting moments of peace that grace his lands. Until now, swords, axes, and bows, wielded by brave men and women, were sufficient to safeguard the Kingdom.

But that was before.

Now, a shadow looms—a threat unlike any they have faced. This is no time to linger on past grievances, for the very fabric of the Kingdom and all sovereigns across the planet hangs in the balance.
It is time... to rally! Assemble the mightiest Warriors from every Realm! Legends and heroes alike, united and ready to reclaim our peace! But raw strength alone will not suffice. A new power awaits: the Trinkets! Discover now how these ancient artifacts will elevate your might and dramatically enhance your chances of triumph over your foes!

In Royal Revolt Warriors, Trinkets are magical gizmos that hold incredible potency. Each carrying its own unique power, your Warriors can use them to buff just about any aspect of their skills: Speed, Damage, Range, anything that can help you to become the ultimate Warriors.

In combination with all the different Weapon types, they don’t just amplify combat efficiency, they open up sheer endless possibilities when it comes to designing your personal success formula. Your gameplay, your way: create the perfect combination, wait until you get your favorite Trinket available, and unleash your power, to become the danger.

Trinkets can either amplify a Warrior's strengths or compensate for their weaknesses. Understanding which trinket complements each hero is crucial for success.

For example, Sam's Gaia Harp summons leaves that circle around him, covering all blind spots, but once it goes on cooldown, he’s left vulnerable. By equipping Dragon Fangs (which increase Attack Speed) and the Pocket Watch (which extends Attack Duration), you effectively eliminate the cooldown. The next attack begins before the previous one ends, briefly doubling his projectile count and keeping him constantly protected.

Christa, on the other hand, has high health and great damage potential, plus the ability to stun enemies, but her main weakness is her slow speed. While it might seem logical to give her Shadow Boots to improve mobility, sometimes it's better to play to her strengths. Equipping her with Verdant Blessing for health regeneration, Nordic Plate for increased armor, and Royal Amulet and O.L.U.M. to boost damage output can make her so powerful that movement becomes unnecessary. She can stand her ground in the thick of enemies without much risk, and no one shall pass.

The Occult Rune is a unique Trinket—it boosts the experience gained from defeating enemies but sacrifices an upgrade in the process. It's an excellent early-game choice when enemies are less threatening, but as the game progresses, it becomes riskier. However, this drawback doesn’t apply when playing as the King. For him, picking up the Occult Rune is always a good option, as it allows him to enchant his sword into the powerful Spectral Blade.

Additionally, there are Trinkets that are universally good on any hero. O.L.U.M. increases the attack area, Royal Amulet boosts attack damage, and Ahriman Wing raises the critical hit chance of all weapons, making them reliable choices for any build.

  • You can have a maximum of 6 Trinkets at a time, so plan ahead
  • Trinkets can be upgraded to a max level of 4 during a game
  • Not every Trinket is available from the beginning, some take certain conditions to unlock
  • Check the Quests Menu for unlock conditions
  • Level 4 Trinkets are needed to unleash any Weapon Enchantment
  • Rune Trinkets have a powerful effect, but they also come with a downside
  • Try compensating these side effects with other Trinkets

You can still enjoy the demo while it lasts, and get to know your favorite combo in depths!

Warrior Breakdown - The King

The King - Fearless Protagonist
The King surely hasn’t led an easy life.
When he was still a kid, his evil relatives cooked up a diabolical scheme trying to pry away the Kingdom that was rightfully his. His teen years were dominated by defending his throne from greedy intruders, constantly attacking him and his people. While this tumultuous past often weighed heavy on the King, it has also made him more resilient and the perfect allrounder on the battlefield. Equipped with his trusty Royal Sword, the matured King’s combat skills are about to be put to the ultimate test:

Now, in the face of impending doom, with evil forces emerging all over the planet, threatening its inhabitants everywhere, the King assembles the strongest Warriors from all the Realms, as the stakes are higher than ever before:
This time it is not only his Kingdom he has to protect, but the entire world.

Ability: Dash
A life of fighting has taught the King the art of war. He knows, even the toughest Warrior can be struck down by a single blow. The importance of a nimble defense tactic can’t be understated since his Ability to evade enemy attacks by dashing, has saved his life many times.
  • The King dashes in the direction he's facing, evading enemies.
  • Leveling up adds more charges and grants brief invulnerability.

Starter Weapon: Royal Sword
Every King needs a sword. Gifted to him as a little child, the Royal Sword has served our King in countless battles, always being his no. 1 trusty companion.
  • Attacks in a 180° cone in front of the King.
  • Attacks can be manually aimed.
  • Leveling up the Royal Sword increases:
    • Damage
    • Attack Area
    • Attack Speed

Sword Weapon Enchantments
Since the King starts off each battle with his Royal Sword already equipped, Weapon Enchantments aiming at his blade are always a good choice.

Lightning Blade: Unleashes a lightning attack that chains between multiple enemies.
Spectral Blade: Summons flying swords that target enemies across the screen.

Recommended Weapon Choices
Viking Hammer: Adds crowd control with stunning effects.

Whirling Axe: Covers the King's blind spot with stationary whirling axes.

Monk's Brew: Attacks in all directions, making it great for controlling mobs.
How to use the Weapons in Combat
For additional damage and utility, picking the Viking Hammer provides crowd control by stunning enemies and dealing extra damage. Consider the Wave Quake Hammer enchantment to create shockwaves that damage enemies while you Dash, making it easier to navigate crowded battlefields in the late game.

Combining the Royal Sword with Monk's Brew allows for effective crowd control, making it easier to take down Goblins and swarms while staying safe.

Alternatively, the Whirling Axe is a solid option to eliminate the King's blind spot by placing Whirling Axes behind him. When enchanted with the Vortex Axe, it draws in enemies and deals heavy damage, giving the King breathing room in battle.

Recommended Trinkets
Shadow Boots: Enhance mobility and synergy with Dash.

O.L.U.M.: Increases Attack Area.

Dragon Fangs: Boosts weapon attack frequency.

Secret Tincture: Increases the number of Royal Sword, Viking Hammer, and Whirling Axe strikes.
Why choose these Trinkets
Dash becomes a powerful tool when paired with Shadow Boots, letting you easily weave in and out of combat while maximizing the impact of each Sword strike.

As enemies grow tougher, use Trinkets like O.L.U.M. to enhance your weapon range, Dragon Fangs to increase Attack Speed, and Secret Tincture to amplify your Royal Sword, Viking Hammer and Whirling Axe strikes.

Coop Strategy
The King excels in co-op play, especially when teamed with ranged characters like Cultist or Umberto. His durability makes him an excellent protector, helping to shield more vulnerable allies during the early game. This allows your ranged teammates to focus on dealing damage while you keep enemies at bay, creating a strong synergy that supports the entire team.

Cheat Sheet

Royal Re:Vault
The King’s original designs were created over 13 years ago. Being the face of his franchise, it has undergone many changes over the course of the 4 games he has now starred in.
Leading up to “Royal Revolt Warriors” we watched him grow from a little kid, to a teenager and lastly to a grown man.

While concepting the “aged” version of the King (first seen in“Royal Revolt: A Trader’s Tale”), we had to find the right balance between having him visibly mature since the events of Royal Revolt 2, while still maintaining the instant recognizability of the beloved design.
