The Finest of the Realms - Meet Mina, the Royal Advisor

- Always loyal Know-it-All -

When the King needs a brain as sharp as a blade, Mina steps up—Advisor, battle strategist, and ultimate problem-solver. Known for her razor-sharp wit and unbreakable loyalty, Mina is the Queen of Comebacks both on and off the battlefield. Now, with her trusty Boomerang, she’s more than just a voice of wisdom—she’s a whirlwind of precision, bringing both brilliance and bruises to every fight. She jokes that her backpack’s like a black hole for everyone’s gear, and her two older brothers, Arthur and Jonathan, would agree—she’s always had the brains of the family.

Backpack

Years of joining the King on the battlefield have made Mina a powerful, resourceful and clever companion. What she lacks in physical strength she more than makes up for with her ability to carry Items around in her beloved Backpack:

  • The Backpack automatically stores Pickups, allowing Mina to use them at any time or drop them for allies.
  • Tapping the button uses the item in the backpack, holding down the button throws it forward so your friends can pick it up
  • As the ability levels up, it can store more types of pickups, beyond just health regeneration items.
  • At Level 2, Powerups can be added to the Backpack as well.

Boomerang

Carrying around a regular Sword in her younger years, Mina has since found the true benefits of wielding a ranged Weapon.

  • The Boomerang targets the nearest enemy in a straight line, dealing damage on its way out and back.
  • Each additional projectile targets random enemies within range.
  • Leveling up increases projectile count, attack speed, duration, and damage. At max level, the Boomerang will fly past the Advisor on its return, allowing it to hit enemies behind her as well.

Weapon Enchantments aimed at the Boomerang, naturally make Mina’s weapon of choice even more powerful, making it a goal worth working towards.

Spiral Boomerang: Changes the attack pattern to spiral around the Advisor, covering a full 360° radius.

Mina has relatively low health, but her powerful Boomerang weapon more than compensates for it. Like the King, it’s crucial to prioritize upgrading the main Weapon early to unlock its level 8 ability. This removes downtime between attacks, allowing the Advisor to dominate the battlefield from the center while maintaining an upper hand.

Incorporating Gaia Harp or Monk’s Brew early on, if available, helps smooth out the randomness of the Boomerang’s attack pattern, giving you more control over the fight. The Boomerang even collects EXP Crystals automatically, reducing the need for constant movement. However, hunting down barrels, vases or crates for valuable pickups to store in the Backpack is vital. Keeping Ham handy to heal or a Bomb to clear enemy waves can be game-changers in tight situations.

As enemies grow tougher, essential trinkets like Prism, Royal Amulet, and Pocket Watch will bolster your offensive capabilities. Prism increases projectile count, benefiting both the Boomerang and Gaia Harp, while Royal Amulet enhances weapon damage. Pocket Watch extends the Boomerang's flight and Gaia Harp’s active time, helping you sustain damage output. If you find O.L.U.M., the increased projectile size will let you hit even more enemies with each attack, boosting your endgame effectiveness.

Endgame Build

Don’t forget to pick up the Golden Compass, which enables the Boomerang’s Enchantment. With the Spiral Boomerang, you’ll shred through enemies in every direction, even overwhelming bosses with ease. Once fully equipped, the Advisor will turn the battlefield into a breeze.

In co-op, the Advisor pairs well with a tanky ally like Christa. Christa can take hits and slow down enemies, giving the Advisor the time needed to clear out threats with her Boomerang and abilities. Together, they create a balanced team where Christa holds the line and the Advisor dishes out relentless damage from a safe distance.

While not quite as old as the King’s, Mina’s original design is still up there amongst the historic legacy characters that helped shape Royal Revolt since its early beginnings. Although she didn’t show up until the sequel in 2013, she has since undoubtedly become the most recognizable face of the franchise, next to the King. She underwent many different outfit and hairdo iterations, before we settled for the now iconic look. Because of the importance of this design, we absolutely wanted to nail her transition from the girl of the past to the young woman she became in Royal Revolt Warriors. A challenge was to maintain her recognizability, while also showing a more mature personality, as she shed her more bratty spitfire-traits of previous installments to become a more focussed and keen character. Furthermore, since Mina was noticeably absent from Royal Revolt: A Trader's Tale, her new grown up version not only had to stay true to her legacy design, but also fit in seamlessly with the cast members that already received the "aging" treatment.

When thinking about her new Weapon (to avoid the repetition of the Sword she used to wield), the Boomerang occurred to us a natural fit, highlighting her nimble fighting style and resourceful wit. Mina is as loyal as they come and her lifelong friendship with the King is something we definitely wanted to translate in her design’s latest rendition.

Know your enemy - The Goblin Gang

Deep within the Royal Forest lie the Goblin Tribes, living in chaotic harmony with Ogres, Trolls, and wild wolves. For decades, these wild tribes terrorized the nearby villages, launching raids and stealing anything they could get their hands on. Their brutal leader, the giant Ogre Freirke, was feared across the region.

However, peace was restored when the King and his trusted allies mounted a bold campaign, pushing the tribes back into the depths of the forest. Even Freirke himself fled, and for years, the villagers enjoyed a period of quiet. No goblins dared to venture out of the woods to cause trouble.

But recently, that peace has been shattered. Something strange has stirred the Goblins. They’ve grown wilder, driven to madness, and have begun pouring out of the forest once more. With renewed aggression, they are not only stealing but also attacking travelers and threatening the villages with a ferocity unseen before. What—or who—has provoked the Goblins into this frenzy remains a mystery, but the danger to the kingdom is all too real.

The King ordered a few troops to contain the danger from the Goblin tribes, but they never returned. Now, the King is taking the matter into his own hands and is gathering the best Warriors of the Realms. It is a dangerous and vital mission—perhaps the most important mission in the history of the kingdom.

Goblins & their older siblings

A single Goblin might not seem like a threat, but when they come in numbers, it’s a different story. If you’re not prepared, they can overwhelm and kill you faster than anything else. It’s simple: either you feed on them, or they feed on you.

To avoid becoming their next meal, it’s crucial to expand your attack area as quickly as possible. This can be done by acquiring more Weapons, increasing the AoE of your current ones, or relying on the ever-reliable Monk’s Brew—the ultimate Goblin counter. But beware!

Goblins can evolve if they survive long enough. Some will transform into massive, mountain-lifting Orcs or Trolls, while others grow even larger, losing their wits in the process. Then there are the clever ones, who use wooden pipes to spit foul projectiles at you from a distance. Some say there are even more mutations lurking in the depths of the woods. However, no matter which variant you face, you’ll need to boost your DPS to outmatch their strength and cunning. Equip yourself with powerful Trinkets like Dragon Fangs for increased attack speed and Royal Amulet for boosted damage output.

Once you’ve crushed their ranks, be ready for the real challenge—their Chieftain. This formidable foe wields a repurposed Castle Defense Arrow Tower as a club, and whatever he smashes won’t get back up. Before facing him, make sure to visit the Vendor and enchant your Weapon of choice—you’ll need every advantage to survive.

Oh, the pesky little pests they are - the Goblin Gang. Designing this ensemble of insurgents, we really wanted to provide a healthy roundup of the perhaps most well-known fantasy lore staples: Goblins, Trolls, Orcs and Ogres and have them all be united in one menacing gang wreaking havoc throughout the lands. Goblins and their congeners are a grand classique of medieval fantasy and pop culture, and there are countless varieties, some made extremely famous by TV shows or movies, others belonging to local folklore. The challenge was to add a unique twist to our version, which is why we decided to add some Royal Revolt-esque humor to this green horde of primitives. So when it comes to their attire and armory, we tried to highlight their limited ingenuity by having them misuse everyday items in a brute and make-shift way. Through the visual story-telling of this detail, one can only imagine how they obtained said items on one of their raids, but often ended up completely repurposing them. Old barrels as pauldrons, horseshoes as helmet accessories, roof shingles as loincloths, broken off defense towers as weapons, anything they could get their greedy paws on, highlighting their savage, yet dense ways.

Now, all the power lies in your hands to defend the Royal Forest! Tell us in the comments: which horde would you like to challenge next?

Visit the Realms - The Royal Forest

Some said that the Royal Forest was blessed by the gods. And even though conflicts had come throughout its history to disturb the serenity of the place, it was a dreamland for all: calm ponds, with soothing waters, sheltered by the benevolent canopies of the forest trees; singing rivers, like crystalline vessels of life; and rich lands, conducive to farming, where the King's herds grazed peacefully.
Sometimes, a few remnants of past wars could be spotted in this lush and vibrant landscape—some ruins of stone already overtaken by ivy, nature reclaiming its rights over a misstep. However, they existed for the inhabitants of the Kingdom as a memory, but also as a warning, a totem where each person silently vowed to defend this little piece of paradise with body and soul.

From the tall towers of the castle, the King watched over his people with the kindness of a man tested by years of rustic existence. He, who had worked so hard all his life to maintain the peace of the Kingdom, his beard and hair now graying, reassured himself by knowing that his subjects were unaware of all the energy and cunning deployed to preserve the sweetness of life in the Royal Forest. Yet sometimes, the King felt his heart gripped by a visceral, incomprehensible fear—the fear of falling asleep in the serenity of peace and waking up in the midst of a nightmare.

However, it had been a long time since goblins and other Lords had shown threatening behavior toward him. The Northern Kingdoms remained quiet, embroiled in their own conflicts and contradictions. The desert was silent, its creatures sleeping within. The steel of his sword itself no longer sang with the same intensity as in his younger years. So why did he not allow himself to embrace peace, the King wondered, leaning on one of the railings of his castle, his usually cheerful and merry gaze fixed on the roof of the Trader's little shop, which continued to thrive, equipping passing adventurers, hunters, and villagers with items forged by the strength of their arms. The King smiled. He had a deep friendship for these two young people, who worked hard to make their little shop shine, with a passion that reminded him of his own. With what they had gone through together, fighting goblins and other monsters, the King felt a sense of calm: he knew he could count on brave companions, no matter what fate had in store for him and his lands.

The King let out a light sigh and shook himself: no, really, what could happen that he should be wary of?

Environment

Despite the Royal Kingdom and adjacent Royal Forest being the birthplace and home to the King, his Advisor and all the Kingdom’s other inhabitants for so many years, there’s still hidden corners to be discovered, no one seems to have ever laid eyes on. While quirky recluses like Guido manage to settle down in some of the more deserted glades and places, the Royal Forest still houses many secrets. Take those ominous Obelisks that suddenly showed up out of nowhere, for example. What mystery could they possibly be hiding?

Enemies

On the brink of an event that is threatening to shake the realm's pillars of harmony to their very foundations, unknown forces are emerging to taint and destroy everything that is pure and innocent. What is it that our brave Warriors have to face and who is behind all this?

When designing the Royal Forest, two things were of special importance to us:

  • It should visually serve as a serene home to all the Royal Revolt protagonists we have grown to love over the years. A peaceful spot of nature with all the green and small rivers one could ever dream of - a place worth fighting for.

  • At the same time, it should hold remnants of past conflicts, residue of war, reminding us of what once was. A place that is also clearly located close to the very kingdom players have been able to experience in previous franchise titles.

When the events of Royal Revolt Warriors kick off, we want it to be a place where we put ourselves on the line to protect. Not showing a single sign of what is about to happen.

Now please enjoy some of the Concept Art we created during the early development stages:

Feature Spotlight - Trinkets

In the Realms, conflict and war are as familiar as the dawn. His Majesty the King has faced them throughout his life, savoring the fleeting moments of peace that grace his lands. Until now, swords, axes, and bows, wielded by brave men and women, were sufficient to safeguard the Kingdom.

But that was before.

Now, a shadow looms—a threat unlike any they have faced. This is no time to linger on past grievances, for the very fabric of the Kingdom and all sovereigns across the planet hangs in the balance.
It is time... to rally! Assemble the mightiest Warriors from every Realm! Legends and heroes alike, united and ready to reclaim our peace! But raw strength alone will not suffice. A new power awaits: the Trinkets! Discover now how these ancient artifacts will elevate your might and dramatically enhance your chances of triumph over your foes!

In Royal Revolt Warriors, Trinkets are magical gizmos that hold incredible potency. Each carrying its own unique power, your Warriors can use them to buff just about any aspect of their skills: Speed, Damage, Range, anything that can help you to become the ultimate Warriors.

In combination with all the different Weapon types, they don’t just amplify combat efficiency, they open up sheer endless possibilities when it comes to designing your personal success formula. Your gameplay, your way: create the perfect combination, wait until you get your favorite Trinket available, and unleash your power, to become the danger.

Trinkets can either amplify a Warrior's strengths or compensate for their weaknesses. Understanding which trinket complements each hero is crucial for success.

For example, Sam's Gaia Harp summons leaves that circle around him, covering all blind spots, but once it goes on cooldown, he’s left vulnerable. By equipping Dragon Fangs (which increase Attack Speed) and the Pocket Watch (which extends Attack Duration), you effectively eliminate the cooldown. The next attack begins before the previous one ends, briefly doubling his projectile count and keeping him constantly protected.

Christa, on the other hand, has high health and great damage potential, plus the ability to stun enemies, but her main weakness is her slow speed. While it might seem logical to give her Shadow Boots to improve mobility, sometimes it's better to play to her strengths. Equipping her with Verdant Blessing for health regeneration, Nordic Plate for increased armor, and Royal Amulet and O.L.U.M. to boost damage output can make her so powerful that movement becomes unnecessary. She can stand her ground in the thick of enemies without much risk, and no one shall pass.

The Occult Rune is a unique Trinket—it boosts the experience gained from defeating enemies but sacrifices an upgrade in the process. It's an excellent early-game choice when enemies are less threatening, but as the game progresses, it becomes riskier. However, this drawback doesn’t apply when playing as the King. For him, picking up the Occult Rune is always a good option, as it allows him to enchant his sword into the powerful Spectral Blade.

Additionally, there are Trinkets that are universally good on any hero. O.L.U.M. increases the attack area, Royal Amulet boosts attack damage, and Ahriman Wing raises the critical hit chance of all weapons, making them reliable choices for any build.

  • You can have a maximum of 6 Trinkets at a time, so plan ahead
  • Trinkets can be upgraded to a max level of 4 during a game
  • Not every Trinket is available from the beginning, some take certain conditions to unlock
  • Check the Quests Menu for unlock conditions
  • Level 4 Trinkets are needed to unleash any Weapon Enchantment
  • Rune Trinkets have a powerful effect, but they also come with a downside
  • Try compensating these side effects with other Trinkets

You can still enjoy the demo while it lasts, and get to know your favorite combo in depths!
