Behind the Magic ✨ | Designing Lunne!
Bonjouuuur!✨
[p]Three years ago, we started dreaming up Lunne, our cheerful witch with a love for baking and a big plan to open her own little bakery in Paris. From the beginning, we wanted her to feel like someone you would love to meet in the real world and hang out with at your local café! And so, today, we'd love to share with you a little glimpse into Lunne's design and art direction!

Of course, we can’t talk about Lunne without mentioning about the artist who brought her to life: Gvanaka. We’d like to send a huge thank you to them for helping us set off on this journey! His imagination shaped Lunne in ways that truly captured her warm, magical spirit.[/p][p] [/p]
Initial Designs
[p][/p][p]Lunne’s earliest designs were a mix of trail and error - and that was part of the fun! Some looks leaned towards school-uniform vibes, while others reminded us of the early 2000s Sabrina the Teenage Witch cartoon (which, let’s be honest, is a fantastic reference in itself ✨).[/p][p]One thing nobody warns you about when you start designing a character is how quickly you find yourself asking some surprisingly deep personality questions. Would Lunne be the type to wear a cardigan, or a jumper? Trousers, or a skirt? Would she show off her witch-iness proudly in her wardrobe… or keep it subtle, blending in with her Parisian neighbours?
[/p][p]Luckily, over time (and a lot of sketches later), we were able to answer all those questions and discover the version of Lunne that felt just right. [/p][p] [/p]
Settling On Witchy Business
[p][/p][p]We wanted Lunne’s personality to shine through her design from head to toes (literally)! That’s where the idea of sneaking in "subtle" bread references came in. You might have spotted it in the initial sketches, among the thick knitting on some of the cardigans - THE BREAD SHAPED BRAID! [/p][p]It was perfect, and so, we have decided to include it in Lunne's hair, as a little nod to her passion as a baker. This playful detail instantly tied her appearance to the story and setting. Not only that, but we made sure to add in a crescent-shaped croissant, nestled nicely on Lunne's witch hat! We think it nicely combines two parts of her personality: the undying love for baking, and being a witch! Two things to proudly show off to everyone she meets ✨[/p][p][/p]
A Little Parisian Flair
[p][/p][p]Once we had a feel for Lunne’s personality and where certain references would come through, we started thinking about how to combine the modern setting of the world with mythical fantasy.[/p][p]That’s when the idea of the classic sailor top came in, simple, cozy, and totally timeless. It just felt… right. Like something you’d see strolling down a Paris street, but still with a little sprinkle of witchy whimsy. And to match the tall hat, a balancing long skirt came in to bring it all together! Let's add some fuzzy, cute socks, and totally not Converse high-angle shoes to keep Lunne's comfortable on her feet as she's exploring Paris. And there she is![/p][p][/p]
The Colours Of Magic
[p][/p][p]Then came colours, oh, the colours! We tried so many different combinations, from darker, gothic inspired, to soft pastels... In the end, every choice had a little story behind it. Our game is centered around emotions, and we have associated them to colors, and designed our characters with that principle... but that a story better told for other characters, as Lunne wears all the emotions![/p][p]Everything else followed, and finally we landed on the palette that felt perfect: simple, yet meaningful, easy to cosplay (wink, wink), yet layered , and of course, uniquely magical. [/p]
The Cheerful Witch of Paris!
[p][/p][p]The final result is the Lunne you all know and love from the game we hope you will all fall in love with! We’re so happy to share Lunne’s design journey with you, and we hope you enjoyed this peek behind the scenes. [/p][p]💬 Tell us in the comments: Which character’s design story would you like us to share next?
[/p][p]And until then… stay magical! 🌟
