Behind the Magic ✨ | Designing Mirembe!

We're so excited to start this new year (The Year Of The Witch! ^^) and can't wait to share some truly exciting news with you VERY SOON! In the meantime... please, meet Mirembe![/p][p][/p][h3]Who Is Mirembe?[/h3][p]Mirembe is a 13-year-old mage-in-training, currently studying at the IRMA Academy to perfect her magical skills. In the game, you’ll encounter her in Ghaldari’s Shop, where she works as an intern. [/p][p]Her personality is as vivid as her magic: eccentric, full of energy, and completely unpredictable! Mirembe was designed by Zimra Art, and we'd love to extend a great thank you for their fantastic work! [/p][h3][/h3][h3]Capturing Mirembe's Energy![/h3][p]The earliest sketches focused on defining Mirembe’s silhouette and attitude. We wanted her pose, posture, and expressions to immediately communicate movement and enthusiasm. These rough concepts explored exaggerated shapes, playful proportions, and dynamic accessories to reflect her restless nature.[/p][p]At this stage, experimentation was key. We were searching for the version of Mirembe that felt both youthful and magically inclined, without falling into familiar fantasy tropes.[/p][p][/p][h3][/h3][p]Her outfit draws heavy inspiration from 1990s fashion and sportswear, blending casual elements with magical flair. This approach helped ground her character in a relatable style. It's an approach you might have seen in our other characters as well! We're big fans of modern fantasy setting, and figuring out how to blend these elements is always great fun ^^[/p][p]Every detail was chosen to reinforce her bold and adventurous side. Her accessories, layered, yet simple clothing choices suggest someone who follows her energy rather than strict rules![/p][p]One particularly important element is her hat, which carries multiple small details tied to her life: references to her school and her ongoing journey as a young mage! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]
Color Choices![/h3][p]Initially, with Mirembe, we played a lot with strong, primary colors. It was a mixutre of 90s inspiration and children's toys color palette! We were aiming to enhance her great personality, and higlight Mirembe's self-expression![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]During the process, we felt that some colours felt too much, while others too restrained! We wanted to ensure the players feel the energy, without feeling too overhwelmed. Until eventually, we found just the right tones! [/p][p][/p][h3][/h3][p]Choosing matching colours for the hat, trousers, and shoes just felt right. Mirembe loves playing with her outfits, mixing bold colours and trying new looks, but she also cares about how it all comes together. And we all love some matching elements in our outfits ^^
[/p][h3][/h3][p]We ultimately landed on pink and soft green because the combination perfectly reflects who Mirembe is. The pink brings out her boldness, confidence, and youthful energy: it’s vibrant, expressive, and impossible to ignore. The soft green, on the other hand, adds balance. It has a calmer, more magical feel that grounds the design and keeps it from becoming overwhelming. Together, they create a playful contrast that feels fun and adventurous, while still harmonious - just like Mirembe herself.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That's Mirembe!
