Question of the Week
1) You Got Wood
**********
Wanna know the secret to the crew’s happiness with Pro Wrestling X? Why the hell people with 16 hr/day day jobs give whatever spare hours and minutes they have to a wrestling game project that has been in constant development for longer than some of our supporters have been alive?
EVERYONE is a fucking boss.
EVERYONE has creative decision making power.
EVERYONE shares a vision of something better
And NO ONE gives a FUCK if anyone has a problem with that
I’ll admit that I used to follow the conventional wisdom of how things “are supposed to work”. I bought into the “way things are done” and sheepishly acquiesced to the opinions of “authorities in their field”. Producers and designers were supposed to make all of the important design, branding, and business decisions and all of the “lowly artists and programmers” were expected to just do what they were told. I’m ashamed to admit I was so easily fooled by that bullshit back in the day.
Conventional wisdom is dead. Experts are worthless if they haven’t done EXACTLY what you are doing. There are no rules anymore and anyone who claims to KNOW what to do is delusional, lying, or both. Each one of us in this day and age has the 100% right to chart their own path. Make their own glorious mistakes. And decide for themselves how they are going to pursue their goals every day and define what success means for them.
To their credit, the other two PWX crew members have helped me to see the light in this respect. These guys are working their asses off during the day for some of the biggest game companies in the world and they STILL spend their free time, limited as it is, contributing to Pro Wrestling X. Why? Because with PWX they have a voice. They have control over their own shit. They decide what they will contribute. They don’t get handed a task list decided by some other asshole(s) and expected to just be good little worker ants.
Used to be that way. Embarrassed to admit it. Back in the day there were actually follow up meetings between some crew members after major crew meetings where the question would actually be, I shit you not, “That guy keeps contributing so many things we didn’t ask for that were not part of ‘the plan’. How do we get him to stop?”
Seriously. “How do we get him to stop?” Such bullshit. Might as well have shouted “YOU WILL RESPECT MY ATHORITAH!!” I should have known better. Now I do.
Case in point, our lead artist has recently been contributing some new rings while our programmer cranks on the next update with the preface, “Nobody asked for this, but…”
Those are my favorite! When people contribute what they WANT to contribute and not just what they are ORDERED to contribute...magic happens. Art happens. Cool wrestling games happen. Happiness, joy, and satisfaction happens. Makes me happy. The old way is dead and buried. This is the way ;)

2) Pic of the Week
**************
This week’s pic goes with the first section of this newsletter. Duct tape and a “shitty” wrestling ring have never looked so sweet. Here is how our lead artist, Mr Wrestling 5, describes the new ring option:
“...there's also some wicked indy harcore mayhem we need to pay tribute to! A lot of Duct Tape was used to create this masterpiece.
Did anyone see the crazy match kenny omega and John Moxely had at Full Gear?
We have...
Wooden Posts
Cardboard RingMat
Chain Turnbuckles
Pillow Turnbuckles Pads and
Rope, Ropes! wut!! “

“I had learned from years of experience with men, that when a man really desires a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win.” – Napoleon Hill
4) Question of the Week

Call back to Mr Wrestling 5’s question for the crew, “Did anyone see the crazy match Kenny Omega and John Moxely had at Full Gear?” Thoughts?
In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of
