We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed (in the best way!) by your incredible support and feedback since Squirreled Away launched. While our previous updates mostly focused on squashing bugs and quality-of-life tweaks, we’ve been secretly working on two of your most-requested features, Creative Mode and Remappable Controls.

And today’s the day they finally arrive!

[h2]Creative Mode: Build Without Limits![/h2]

We’ve loved seeing how you’ve used the build tools in Squirreled Away to create your cozy homes up in the trees, but now we’re taking it to the next level! Say goodbye to gathering and building restrictions and say hello to pure, unfiltered creativity.

Jump into Creative Mode and choose from these three starting templates:

The Park – Perfect for fans of the classic Adventure Mode vibe.
Flatlands – A blank canvas for your wildest designs.
SandyCove Island – A picturesque getaway to spark inspiration.

And this is just the beginning! We’re already brainstorming ways to expand Creative Mode’s possibilities for the future. Stay tuned for more news!

[h2]🎮 Remappable Controls: Play Your Way![/h2]

You asked, we listened! Full button remapping is now available for both keyboards and controllers. Whether you’re optimizing for comfort or your needs, the power is in your paws. We know how important this feature is to allow players to be able to experience the game fully. Now, the power is in your paws. Happy remapping everyone!

Full Button Remapping! Customize your controls exactly how you like them.
You can now build bouncy shrooms in both adventure and creative mode!
Park Renaming! Second thoughts on your park’s name? Change it anytime!

The Start Menu has been refreshed, now featuring dedicated slots for Adventure Mode and Creative Mode.
More Save Slots! Extra room for all your parks and creations.
Improved performance for hosts in co-op sessions when there are many buildings in the world.
Added shadows to placement highlights when building to help with depth perception.

[h3]🐞 Bug Fixes[/h3]

Improved performance for paper lamps and candles.
Fixed a crash when quitting the game when windows was still loading.
Built windows and doors now load properly during startup, reducing temporary performance drops.
Fixed Steam Deck resolution issues.
Quest log squirrel icons now correctly match their colors in Squirrel Vision.
Claire is now properly in focus during her dialogues.
Fixed an issue where displayed fish used incorrect materials.
Walls now rebuild correctly after demolishing doors and windows.
The "Take Me to the River" achievement now unlocks as intended.
The "Jump" mound no longer respawns after reloading the game.
Fixed multiple acorn branches spawning on top of each other.
Fixed squirrel animation blending issues
Fixed camera collision with water surfaces.
Fixed an issue where the camera could clip underwater.
Fixed camera behavior when opening treasure chests from certain angles.
Resolved main menu issues with credits unexpectedly exiting the game.
Improved controller/mouse focus interactions in menus.
Fixed so that player movement no longer continues when opening the Fish Bowl menu.
Fixed so that the 'Back' button in various menus can now be properly clicked using the mouse.
All building blocks are now visually highlighted when hovered over.
Various bugs related to player camera and controller behavior during building mode have been addressed.
