Join the celebration of Earth

I’m proud that Winter Burrow is part of the Earth Appreciation Festival on Steam—alongside so many beautiful games that honor our connection to the natural world.

Winter Burrow is deeply personal to me. It’s inspired by memories of my mom taking my sister and me to a place in the woods we called Fox Hill. We’d ride our bikes there, eat lunch at the top, and spend hours playing in the forest—building little homes from sticks and pretending we lived there.

Now I do the same with my own kids. Whenever we find a hollow tree or tangled roots, we imagine who might live there and tell each other stories. That love of nature has found its way into the game.

We’ve put a lot of care into making the world of Winter Burrow feel alive and true to nature—even naming characters after real plants and animals. The Aunt is called Betulina, from the Latin name for the northern birch mouse. The toad is named Bufo, and one character’s partner is Pinesap—a parasitic plant that ties into their backstory (no spoilers!).

Nature is close to my heart, and I hope Winter Burrow brings a little of that magic to you. Maybe it even inspires you to step outside, breathe in the forest air… and then come back to your cozy burrow for tea and pie.
