Devlog: Progression & Rewards

[p]Hey all! Time for another teaser on what's to come in the imminent Dread Update, as well as some insights from Stef, our creative lead, on the purpose and intention behind the changes and additions. [/p][p][/p][p]First up we know variety is key, so we’ve tried to add a sprinkling of new content across the whole game, this includes new quest dice and vassals but also a new class and dice effect that comes with progression in the game. This is on top of new visual updates including cosmetics that you can unlock to keep things looking fresh! [/p][p][/p][p]Magik dice are a new stackable effect that can be unlocked, alongside quest dice that relate to this new mechanic. This should give you another build path to explore and it’s linked with the unlockable class to help you get the most out of the mechanic. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]whats this? suprise dice?[/p][p][/p][p]Stef adds that for progress rewards originally we went down the route of ‘more quest dice equals more fun’. However, just getting more quest dice can be a little uninteresting, especially if you haven’t exhausted all the options already in normal playthroughs. On the flip side though, rewards that lean specifically into just one playable build can be tough if you don’t find that playstyle interesting - you’d be unlocking things that you don’t want to use. [/p][p][/p][p]We’ve tried to go for the middle ground here, some of the progression rewards will buff your existing builds whilst others lean into the new mechanic. In the end it’s a balancing act for us to get rewards that everyone can find exciting to use, whilst keeping some experiences as rewards for beating the game on higher difficulties. [/p][p][/p][p]Finally, we wanted to tease a few of the other things we’re working on that are on the way in future updates. We have a few more mechanics planned, such as revamping Might and adding in Crit mechanics for the player, but this comes with a whole slew of balancing that we still need to work on. [/p][p][/p][p]Our other major plan is increased shop variety, including what we’re calling the ‘Dice Wizard’, a way to modify your existing quest dice with extra effects and custom modifiers to truly refine (and probably break) your build along the way! [/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for the support and as always, catch us on our discord for feedback and suggestions![/p]

Devlog: The Dread Update

[p]Hey folks, Dicealot devs here with some news on what we’ve been working on and some of the things you can expect from our next major patch, we’re calling the ‘Dread Update!’

Previously, the difficulty progression (known as Dread) was pretty linear, foe health increased at a flat rate and the only incentive to keep beating higher difficulties was for the love of the game and those precious achievements.

No longer! We’re working on an overhaul of the whole system, Dread is much more of a curve now, so you’ll find the lower difficulty levels easier by comparison, but the highest levels are going to be seriously tough.

To help you out and reward you for your climb, you’ll find new rewards waiting for beating each Dread level. We’ll be teasing more of the types of rewards you can expect in an upcoming devlog, but it’s a mix of everything, including a whole new system and class that can only be unlocked through Dread.

We’re also keen on ‘revealing’ some of the more hidden mechanics around Dread, stuff that was already in the game but wasn't made obvious to the player.

For example as you progress through Dread, your chances of getting extra copies of dice you already own showing up in the shop increase, giving you greater chances of hitting those stronger hands and crazier builds.

This system will still remain, but we’re buffing how effective this is as you progress up the tiers, and we’re laying out exactly what you can expect to find via the Dread cards when you select your difficulty.

A new year, a new Gwynevere.

[p]Happy 2026 Dice enjoyers!

After some medieval festivities we've been hard at work polishing up your favourite Arthurian dice-builder. We've got plenty of stuff in the works, including more quest dice (of course), broad changes to the difficulty system and its reward structure, as well as some new stall owners to meet between bouts.
[/p][p]We will also be adding the community design challenge winning Vassal in short order!

So lots of fun stuff incoming. In the meantime, Gwynevere has been busy sourcing some new outfits and we'd love some feedback! We wont specify just yet how these are attainable by the player, but I'm sure you could make a solid guess.

We'd love to get some feedback for Gwynney's new duds. You can hop into our discord to see the full display! We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks so much to everyone who has played, given feedback, reached out to us, we're really lucky to have been able to bring this game of ours to life and we're looking forward to heading for that glorious 2.0!
