Welcome back to another deep dive into the mechanics of HELLBREAK! As you prepare to take on the demonic arena, we want to give you an edge by explaining one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal: Curses. These potent effects can turn the tide of battle, and when combined with the right blessings, they become even more deadly.

Curses are powerful debuffs you can apply to enemies, giving you control over the battlefield. From spreading chaos among crowds to freezing your enemies in place, curses are crucial to your survival in the arena. Let's take a quick look at each of them.


[h2]🔥 Inferno 🔥[/h2]


[h3]Fiery Demise[/h3]

Infernal enemies explode upon death, dealing a percentage of their max HP as damage to others nearby. The more enemies you take down in clusters, the bigger the explosions and the bigger the carnage.


[h2]❄️ Frostbind ❄️[/h2]


[h3]Total Paralysis[/h3]

Frostbound enemies are completely frozen, unable to move or deal damage. Use this to lock down high-priority threats or groups, giving yourself breathing room to tackle other challenges.

[h2]⚡ Shock ⚡[/h2]


[h3]Chain Lightning Carnage[/h3]

Striking a Shocked enemy causes chain lightning, dealing a percentage of the initial damage to nearby foes. Shock is perfect for decimating tightly packed enemies with minimal effort.

[h2]🧪 Blight 🧪[/h2]


[h3]Contagious Destruction[/h3]

Blighted enemies take increased damage and spread Blight to nearby foes when they die. This makes it easy to weaken large groups and create chain reactions that turn the arena into a deadly trap.

[h2]Enhance Your Curses with Blessings[/h2]


Curses on their own are powerful, but when paired with the right blessings, they become unstoppable. Some Blessings modify how curses work or provide new ways to apply them, giving you greater control over the battlefield.

In this update, we're excited to dive into the progression system of HELLBREAK and explain how you can earn favor from the powerful demonic lords of the underworld. These lords won’t just hand out rewards—you’ll have to fight for their attention and complete their missions to earn their favor.


[h2]How It Works[/h2]


As you continue fighting in HELLBREAK, more demonic lords will start to take notice of your strength. Each lord has their own expectations, and to earn their favor, you’ll need to fight in the way that pleases them. Completing their missions will allow you to sacrifice souls you have earned during your battles to them. In return you will receive valuable rewards that unlock new possibilities in your battles. And it will also unlock the next tier of recognition.

Below, you can check out a sneak peek of the progression UI screen that shows your standing with each demon lord. Please note that everything is still a work in progress and subject to change as development continues.

Earning favor from the demonic lords offers four main types of rewards:

• New Weapons: Unlock powerful demonic weapons
  
• New Spells: Cast new spells to dominate the battlefield
  
• New Blessings: Gain modifiers that enhance your combat abilities.
  
• Permanent Upgrades: Earn lasting boosts to your character, making you even stronger for future trials.
  

Below, you can also see a glimpse of the upgrades screen, where you’ll manage the permanent upgrades you’ve unlocked. Again, please note that everything is still a work in progress and may be updated as development continues.

We’re thrilled to introduce Varkoth as one of the first demon lords you’ll encounter in HELLBREAK.

Varkoth stands as a relentless embodiment of discipline and punishment. His skeletal visage and bound limbs are a testament to his harsh and unyielding nature. With a cruel and calculating demeanor, he takes pleasure in enforcing his brutal will upon others. His presence is a chilling reminder of the extreme consequences for defiance, reveling in the power of control and the agony it imposes.

First of all, we want to thank all of you for the incredible support since we launched the Steam page for HELLBREAK. We’ve been working tirelessly to bring this game to life, and we’re thrilled to see the excitement building within our community. Your comments, feedback, and questions have been invaluable, and we’re keeping a close eye on everything you share.

Starting today, we’ll be sharing regular updates about the game and our development progress to keep you in the loop with what we’re working on and what’s coming up. Let’s dive into what we’ve been up to and our plans for the future!





Since the Steam page launch, we’ve been hard at work polishing up the game and incorporating your feedback into our development process. From refining the weapons and spells to perfecting the chaos of the arena, our goal is to deliver an intense, fast-paced experience that feels rewarding. We've also been busy behind the scenes setting up what we believe will be the best way for you to experience HELLBREAK before its release.

We’re also preparing to share more details about the enemies you’ll face, the spells you can wield, and the demonic weapons you’ll unleash in HELLBREAK. And of course, we’ll be diving deeper into the progression system featuring the demon lords and how you can earn their favor. We’re excited to give you a closer look at all these elements soon!







We’re excited to announce that we’re preparing a closed playtest on Steam! This will be an opportunity for a select group of players to get their hands on the game and provide us with critical feedback as we move forward. We’ll be sharing more details on when this will be available, so stay tuned!







For those who might not make it into the playtest, don’t worry! We’re also planning to release a free open demo before the end of November. This will give everyone a chance to experience a taste of the hellish chaos that HELLBREAK has to offer. The demo will include a variety of weapons, spells, and a look at the kinds of challenges you’ll face in the full game. We plan on updating the demo as we polish up more and more content until the early access launch. We can’t wait to hear what you think!







Looking ahead, our goal is to launch the game in Early Access in Q1 2025. We’re taking the time to ensure HELLBREAK is the best it can be, with a brutal and satisfying roguelite experience that keeps you coming back for more.
