[p]Let’s talk about the next couple game updates! (Also: featuring some community creations.)[/p]
When’s the next game update?
[p]We’re working on a few upcoming game updates, along with helping with the next curated map’s release. These aren’t ready to ship just yet. We’ve shared some details as to why below.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Our next game update is focused on (1) an engine upgrade, and (2) introducing new features intended for an upcoming curated map and Limestone, though we think all modders will really enjoy the new options. We’re estimating this will be ready in the next couple weeks.[/p][p]After that engine upgrade, we’ll be right back to working on the next actual content update we’ve teased bits of.[/p][p]For context, our previous update (version 3.25.9.2) also contained an engine upgrade. That patch was necessary due to a security vulnerability in certain Unity versions. Unfortunately, some players are experiencing crashes after that update, which we believe is due to the engine upgrade.[/p][p]We’ve been hopeful about making a larger upgrade to Unity 2022 LTS – which would fix some pathfinding bugs, and should (hopefully) resolve those crashes. Since this is a major upgrade, bugs are likely. We’ve already fixed a few issues and we’re hoping to catch more prior to release.[/p][p][/p][p]Both the next curated map, and the next content update, are shaping up nicely. We’re unsure which of those will release first – but the soonest game update is that Unity 2022 LTS engine upgrade.[/p][p]In Unturned’s next content update, brick structures have been truly cemented as the best base building material. We’ve sprinkled new “clay nodes” across the game’s official maps to make farming the materials consistent, and every missing brick structure piece has been added so you don’t need to mix-and-match materials anymore.[/p][p]We’ve updated the Preview branch with a build of the game running on Unity 2022 LTS. Please let us know if you encounter any issues with the preview build! We hope you’ve been enjoying Limestone in the meanwhile[/p]
Mod: Furniture Mod
[p][/p][p]Mark Artwort’s Furniture Mod is perfect for decorating your base. Featuring a variety of fairly-modern furniture designs, along with fun rugs, paintings, and other objects to spruce up your home.[/p]
Mod: Expanded Mannequins
[p][/p][p]If you’re decorating your base, consider using the Expanded Mannequins mod by Embr and Prkr! This mod adds 27 mannequin poses to the game. You can trick enemies with their player-like stances, or place them around your base’s new furniture.[/p]
Screenshot Showcase
[p]“Rocky Face Bois” by u/MrStinkPickleJr.[/p][p]“my little resource shack in limestone” by u/GibusMibus.[/p][p]“My model of AKMN with a PK-A dot sight.” by Schokoriegel.[/p][p]“My SVDS Model with some attachments :DD” by Schokoriegel.[/p]
Q&A
[p]Q. Does Unturned go open-source this year?
“Thanks for your interest! I’m hopeful for later this year or early 2026. Tidying up loose ends legally-speaking has been a much bigger undertaking than I’d anticipated. Aside from that, most recently I’ve been slowly chipping away a little bit each day at a checklist of every source file in the game, double-checking that, for example, there aren’t references to anything under NDA. Fortunately, Nelson of 11 years ago seems to have been fairly responsible.”—Nelson[/p][p]Q. How do I override the clouds my custom map? I’m not seeing any error messages!
Our complete documentation can be found online. If your error logs are empty, it’s possible that the Cloud Intensity in the level’s lighting tab is set to zero, or the Cloud Color is currently black – either of these would make it hard to notice your custom clouds are working.[/p][p]Q. How do I remove an IP whitelist/blacklist from my Steam Workshop mod?
By updating the Workshop file and leaving those fields empty, it should remove the restriction.[/p]
Send Us Your Questions!
[p]Thanks for reading![/p][p]We regularly respond to questions posted on Steam Discussions, Discord, or the community-ran r/Unturned subreddit! Community Blog #041

[p]Limestone and France patches, community-made content, and more![/p]
Limestone – Post-Release
[p][/p][p]We hope you’ve been enjoying Limestone National Park![/p][p]Since release, the Limestone team has addressed several player-reported bugs and balancing concerns. Notably, crawler zombies are a bit less plentiful compared to release, and high-end structures are more resilient against raids.[/p][p]The challenges players must overcome on this new curated map are different from what you may be used to. While that extra difficulty is core to its design, making sure it still feels fair is just as important.[/p][p]You can view patch notes specific to Limestone from its Workshop page.[/p]
France – August Update
[p][/p][p]France has received a large patch that brings it inline with more recent game updates, with a number of bug fixes, quality-of-life upgrades, and performance improvements. You can download France from the in-game curated map menu, or through the Steam Workshop.[/p][p]The France team has also announced a new standalone map project, that hopes to improve upon what they learned while working on the classic France map.[/p]
Mod: William’s Vehicles
[p]William’s Vehicles, by WW_TC.[/p][p]The William’s Vehicles mod aims to replace the game’s vanilla vehicles with updated, higher-detailed versions. Not just with new car models, but also custom physics and tires, working hazard lights, and more.[/p][p]Vehicles added by the mod can spawn on any vanilla map, such as PEI or Washington, and the author plans to continue updating the mod with more content![/p]
Preview Branch
[p]If you’re curious about upcoming game updates, we regularly use the preview branch for both major content drops and minor bug-fixing patches! You can always view the latest preview branch changelog online: SDG Support > Preview branch.[/p][p]In this case, we have a small patch planned for this week—early October—with some fixes and modding features intended for the Limestone map.[/p][p]Any player can opt into the Preview Branch and test upcoming features themselves, by following the instructions on our Support site.[/p]
Artwork Showcase
[p]the farmer turned, by Behzat Ç.[/p][p]Buak Unturned Map, by blxcktrxck.[/p][p]“They’re real.”, by PainsLover.[/p][p]sc-7_test_site_01, by PainsLover.[/p]
Q&A
[p]Q. What’s a good way to improve performance on my map?[/p][p]Two simple ways to improve performance are by enabling level batching, and having only a single water volume with reflections enabled. Following good practices means you should also avoid densely packed/detailed areas, and if making custom objects or foliage you can tag smaller details as Is_Clutter so players can turn them off for some minor performance gains.[/p][p]Q. Is there an in-game setting to up vehicle health?[/p][p]The Armor Multiplier difficulty setting for vehicles can decrease the damage vehicles take, which is functionally similar to increasing their health. For example, a value of 0.5 means vehicles only take 50% of the damage they normally would.[/p]
Send Us Your Questions!
[p]Thanks for reading![/p][p]We regularly respond to questions posted on Steam Discussions, Discord, or the community-ran r/Unturned subreddit! Limestone

Welcome to Limestone
[p]Explore a mountainous, heavily armed, militarized state in the American Midwest. This map isn't for the faint of heart. Nights are pitch-black—light is your lifeline. Everything here is deadlier, ready to chew up anyone reckless enough to go it alone. You will not survive.[/p][p][/p][p]According to a brochure from the visitor center:[/p][p]Tourist attractions include mountain climbing, target shooting, and fishing.[/p][p]But don’t forget about the county’s central city, Pinehurst! Try the delicious donuts at Double Deсked Donuts, visit the incredible exhibition at the city gallery, spend an unforgettable night at Hotel Boxter, and stop by one of the newest branches of the Kraymarkt supermarket chain.[/p][p]Rumor has it that the local mountains (and not only them) hide many secrets. Some are eerie, others very useful… if, of course, you know how to handle them.[/p][p]And while you explore the local landmarks and natural beauty, don’t forget about the wild animals! Unfortunately, they’re not as friendly as we are...[/p][p]Well then, we look forward to seeing you in[/p][p]Limestone National Park![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Limestone on the Steam Workshop[/p][p]To host a server running the map add its workshop file ID (3565225438) to the File_IDs list in WorkshopDownloadConfig.json, and set the map to "Limestone" (without quotes) in Commands.dat.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This project was created by clue, janeks, and LVOmega. As a compromise, we've added an "-UnlockSteamAchievements" command-line flag to unlock all Steam achievements. To use this, add the flag (without quotes) to the game's launch options and run Unturned.[/p][p]Our best wishes and good luck to everyone playing through the map to unlock the achievements, have fun![/p][p][/p]
