Shokudo Underworld News

From the Kitchen to the Battlefield

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while! We hope your culinary adventures have been going well. Today, we’re bringing you some exciting news—something BIG is coming in the next few months!

But first, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support. Over the past five months, Shokudo Underworld has sold over 8,000 copies—a milestone we never expected to reach as an indie team. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey.

As a small startup, our team consists of two co-leaders—one specializing in coding and the other in art—a game designer, a music producer, and, of course, me, the mascot! 😊 Shokudo Underworld was our first game, a way to explore the market and test our potential. Since launch, we’ve received amazing feedback from players—ranging from bug reports to creative suggestions—and we’ve carefully considered every one of them to improve the gaming experience.

Now, with all the lessons we’ve learned, we’re thrilled to announce our next project: Rise of Shrooms!

This brand-new casual game is completely different from Shokudo Underworld. Rise of Shrooms is a turn-based strategy game set on a grid-based battlefield, where every move and action is determined by the roll of the dice. This time, you’re not the hero—you’re leading the mushrooms as they spread their spores, conquer new lands, and take on fierce monsters (and even a legendary boss… but I won’t spoil too much, or my boss will get mad! 😆).

We’ve made sure to keep the gameplay challenging yet rewarding, packed with surprises to keep things fresh. Our amazing artist has once again brought the world to life with charming cartoony characters that we can’t wait for you to meet!

To make the game even better, we’ll be releasing a demo on February 24 as part of Steam Next Fest! This is your chance to try it out early and share your thoughts. We’d love to hear your feedback, especially on game balancing and mechanics.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you again for being part of our adventure!

See you soon in Rise of Shrooms! 🍄✨

Cooking Up Changes: Shokudo Underworld Adds More Space and Music!

Hello, fellow chefs!

First of all, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for your amazing support. The game has now sold over 3,000 copies worldwide! As a small startup team, this means everything to us, and we couldn't be more grateful.

In the two weeks since launch, we’ve received so much feedback, and we've gone through every bit of it. Your lovely comments about the game's coziness, the cute art, and the music made us so happy, and your suggestions for improving gameplay and mechanics have been incredibly helpful. We’ve heard you loud and clear and are excited to announce some updates based on your requests! In this update, we’re adding more backpack space and some new music to the game. Just like our slogan says, the new track is “Freshly Brewed” by our amazing musician, and we hope you enjoy it!

We’d also like to address some of the big questions we’ve been getting about Shokudo Underworld:
Will there be a mobile, Nintendo Switch, or other platform version soon?
Unfortunately, the short answer is no. Shokudo Underworld was initially designed just for PC, and we didn't plan for other platforms. That said, we’ve heard how much you’d love to play it elsewhere, and we agree it would be a great fit. However, at the moment, there aren’t plans to expand to other platforms.

Is there controller support for this game?
We didn't specifically design the game for controllers, but we've heard many of you are using Steam Deck and other controllers to play, which is awesome! While it’s not officially supported, it seems to be working for some players.

Thank you so much for being part of our chefing journey!
