To Arms! Help Us Collect Vital Data by Battling Your Fellow Players in Cyrodiil

Join the new Vengeance Alliance War campaign and help us test changes and collect data that could inform future improvements to the game.
Put Cyrodiil to the Test
Part of the ongoing effort to improve performance and stability in ESO’s open-world PvP experience, Cyrodill Champions has now found its way to the PC/Mac live servers with the Vengeance campaign.

This test Alliance War campaign is now live until the morning of March 31 (during scheduled maintenance). Note that during this time, this will be the ONLY Alliance War campaign available for PC/Mac players.

If you’d like to help us test changes to Cyrodiil and its open-world combat, you can do so by following the process below:
  1. Navigate to the Alliance War menu
    1. Either by pressing L on your keyboard or navigating direct via the UI
  2. Select the Campaigns tab
  3. Select Cyrodiil and then the Vengeance campaign
Vengeance Campaign
The Vengeance campaign is open to all players level 10-50 and introduces a special ruleset to the Alliance War, templatizing player builds to help improve stability.
  • All players have normalized stats regardless of level
  • Each Class has a modified set of abilities and items
  • While in Vengeance, you cannot change your class
  • While in Vengeance, you cannot access your bank, vendors, or crafting nodes
  • Only Experience Points, Alliance Points, gold, and Champion Points are retained upon leaving the campaign, and no items can be taken out
  • The Champion System is disabled in this campaign
  • All quests are disabled in this campaign

Upon entering the campaign, your character is changed to match a specific template for their class. As mentioned above, this includes pre-determined abilities, attributes, consumables, and item sets. It also includes a backpack of supplies that cannot be removed from the campaign.

Note that the templatizing of characters is an experiment and does not necessarily mean that these changes will be made to the Alliance War in the future. By introducing templatized characters for this specific test, we can isolate the variables that impact performance, helping us plan future improvements.

For more, check out this Vengeance Campaign Q&A on the official forums.

Not only does this campaign help test Cyrodiil’s performance while under specific conditions, but it also allows you to battle your fellow players on a completely even playing field. No matter your experience level or items, everybody who enters the Vengeance campaign is at the same power level—leaving only your skill to determine the victor!
Help Us Help Cyrodiil
As you fight to control Cyrodiil, a bonus Golden Pursuits campaign is running at the same time, allowing you (on any platform) to earn even more Gold and Alliance Points. Take up arms on behalf of your chosen Alliance and help us chart the future of ESO’s open-world PvP game mode—we need you!

Don’t forget, this test is for PC/Mac users only (although anybody can complete the Golden Pursuits activities and earn the bonus rewards) and is now live until March 31. Are you ready to return to Cyrodiil? Let us know via X (formerly Twitter)Instagram, Bluesky, and Facebook.

Madcap Merriment Marks Marvelous Rewards as the Jester’s Festival Event Returns

Spread cheer and chaos in equal measure to receive raucous rewards during this year’s Jester’s Festival in-game event!
A Festive Frolic for All
The Jester’s Festival in-game event makes its grand return on March 27 at 10AM EDT and will continue until April 3 at 10AM EDT, 2025. Once the fun begins, you can enjoy increases to XP gains and revel in raucous rewards after completing event-specific quests.

To receive admission to the festivities, head over to the event pavilions located within Ebonheart, Vulkhel Guard, or Daggerfall, and speak with one of the three jesters posing as an alliance leader. If the buffoonery of the bash is making your head spin while trying to locate these event sites, open the in-game Crown Store and pick up the Jester's Festival Invitation Quest.

Everybody’s getting in on the party

Upon completing the introductory quest, you’ll earn the delectable Pie of Misrule memento reward, which can be located within the Mementos section of your Collections. However, unlike some previous years, you will no longer need to obtain or use the Pie of Misrule to take advantage of the 100% XP buff. This bonus will now be shared passively to all adventurers participating in Tamriel’s most hilarious holiday. Still, the Pie doesn’t seem to get stale despite the time passing, so feel free to dig in!
Complete Quixotic Quests, Grab Goofy Goodies
Throughout the Jester’s Festival, you can pick up various event-specific daily quests. For each one completed, you’ll receive a Jester's Festival Box. Furthermore, the first Jester’s Festival daily quest you complete each day will reward you with one Stupendous Jester's Festival Box.

Each of these boxes can include the following items:
  • Festive Dazzlers
  • Cherry Blossom Confetti
  • Revelry Pies
  • Festive furnishings
  • Jester’s Festival provisioning recipes
  • Treasures that can be sold to vendors for Gold
  • Previous years’ style pages
  • One of the following:
    • A random unbound page for either the Broom or Bucket styles.
    • Regal Regalia, Second Seed, or Jester’s Seeker Suit style pages
    • A fragment for previous Jester’s collectibles:
      • Cadwell's Surprise Box memento
      • Sovereign Sow pet
      • Playful Prankster's Surprise Box memento
      • Jester’s Daedroth Suit costume

In addition to the aforementioned rewards, the Stupendous Jester’s Festival Box has a chance to contain the following goodies:
  • NEW: A random unbound page of the Alliance Mimicry outfit style
    • Note that this style consists of head and chest pages for each alliance
  • NEW: An unbound Jester’s Deadly Headband adornment Runebox
  • Jester's Scintillator Runebox
  • Cherry Blossom Branch Runebox
  • Cadwell's Kitchen weapon style page
  • High-value treasures
  • Festive Noise Maker Parts
  • Joke Popper Parts
Event Tickets and Merchants
During the festivities, you can collect three Event Tickets for the first Jester’s Festival quest completed each day. Participating in the festivities every day of the event can earn you up to 24 tickets total.

Note that the total number of Event Tickets you can carry at one time is capped at 12. If you are close to the limit, then be sure to spend a few to avoid wasting any Tickets. That’d be a little too silly even for Jester’s Festival!

Never one to miss a party, the Impresario has special wares on sale during the event:
  • All three Stonewisp of Truth and Law pet fragments
    • Axiomatic Runestones
    • Glyph of Law
    • Powdered Wisp Remains
  • All three fragments for the Logical Rune Extraction customized action
    • Exalted Icon of Logic
    • Flawless Prism
    • NEW Jhunal's Magnificent Extrication
  • Bound style pages for the Alliance Mimicry outfit
  • The Jester's Deadly Headband adornment

This is the first showing of the full set of fragments you need for the Logical Rune Extraction customized action. Be sure to grab it now that you’ll have the opportunity!

Fallen Banners & Update 45 Now Live on PC/Mac

Defend an Elder Scroll and experience a host of changes and additions to the game with the Fallen Banners dungeon pack and Update 45 base-game patch.

The Fallen Banners dungeon pack and free Update 45 base-game patch are now live on PC/Mac and arrives March 26 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles. In this release, you can save Cyrodiil from plunging further into chaos with two new dungeons and experience a host of changes and quality-of-life additions.

Fallen Banners dungeon pack

You can get access to the Fallen Banners dungeon pack at launch via ESO Plus™ membership. Note that alternative means of acquiring it will be revealed as part of the upcoming ESO Direct on April 10.
Fallen Banners
Gather your party for two challenging new PvE dungeon experiences: Lep Seclusa and Exiled Redoubt. Unlock new achievements and earn new rewards including item sets, collectibles, and more as you fight to preserve what little peace remains in the war-torn region of Cyrodiil.

Lep Seclusa

The Moth Priests of Lep Seclusa are besieged, and the cunning Orpheon the Tactician is set on seizing the power of the Elder Scroll they safeguard. You must help Sister Chana defend the sanctuary against an army of deserters, protect its people and secrets, and confront Orpheon before he can use the power of the scroll to forever change the face of Cyrodiil.

Exiled Redoubt

Soldiers of the Alliance War, regardless of their faction, are vanishing, and all trails lead to the Imperial fortress known as the Exiled Redoubt. Team up with the Battlemage Lucilla, infiltrate this mysterious stronghold, and put a stop to the schemes of a once noble Imperial house before its chaos can spread beyond its stone walls and throughout Tamriel.
Getting Started
At launch, you can access the Fallen Banners dungeon pack with an ESO Plus membership. If your ESO Plus membership lapses, you will lose access to the DLC until you renew your membership or acquire it by other means.

Note that while at launch ESO Plus membership is the only way to access the dungeon pack, there will be additional ways to acquire it in the future—stay tuned for more information during the April ESO Direct.

Once you have access to Fallen Banners, you can dive right into the two new dungeons via the following methods:
  • By teleporting directly into the two dungeons from your map
  • By using the Dungeon Finder tool
  • By visiting their specific dungeon entrances within the Hew's Bane (Lep Seclusa) and West Weald (Exiled Redoubt) zones

As a base-game patch, Update 45 will be automatically downloaded by your game clients when it launches.
Update 45 Base-Game Patch
Arriving in tandem with the dungeon pack is the Update 45 base-game patch, a free update for all ESO players that features additions, bugfixes, and improvements to the game.

Starter Zone Refresh

To help keep ESO as welcoming to new (and returning) players as possible, the game’s starter zones have received a visual refresh, bringing them closer to the quality of more recent additions. Bleakrock Isle, Bal Foyen, Stros M’kai, Betnikh, and Khenarthi’s Roost have each received improvements to their lighting, enhanced ground and water textures, updated structures, and the addition of more clutter or props.

Cyrodiil Champions PC/Mac Test

ESO’s Alliance War veterans can help the team test future changes and iterations on the game’s open-world PvP with a PC/Mac-only test called Cyrodiil Champions. With the goal of improving stability and performance in Cyrodiil (and perhaps other environments), look for a special Alliance War campaign called Vengeance to participate from March 24-31, 2025.

General Changes and Improvements

Along with the above, Update 45 also boosts mount starting speed, overhauls the Craft constellation to ease micromanagement, and introduces a general UI cleanup of the in-game map to help improve readability. It also moves the game’s disguises out of the inventory and into your collections and improves the visibility of Mundus Stone boons—phew!

You can discover more about the update’s features in this preview blog. For everything arriving as part of the base-game patch, check out the Patch Notes on our official forums. Don’t forget, the Update 45 base-game patch is FREE for all ESO players and is downloaded automatically at launch.
