Be a Part of History Together during the Battle for the Writhing Wall Event

Battle the Worm Cult together with your server to advance the war effort and unbar the way to a new region in a special one-time event.

Save Solstice
The Battle for the Writhing Wall event begins October 13 at 10AM EDT and continues until the Writhing Wall is destroyed. Band together with your fellow players to progress the event for your server and ultimately bring down the wall on your platform and region!

The full scope of the event is part of the Seasons of the Worm Cult saga unfolding on Solstice for 2025 Content Pass owners, but all players can participate in the fight against the Worm Cult and help foil their schemes.
Join the Fight!
Once the event kicks off on October 13, visit Skordo the Knife at the Stirk Fellowship Camp or the Sunport Rampart Camp to sign up and do your part in the war against the Worm Cult.

You can reach the Stirk Fellowship Camp by taking the boat to Stirk from the docks of Vulkhel Guard, Daggerfall, or Davon’s Watch, while the Sunport Rampart Camp is located near the Rampart Camp Wayshrine on Solstice, to the southeast of Sunport. You can also grab the introductory quest, titled “Support the Fellowship,” from the in-game Crown Store to help point the way.

Prepare for battle!

The Battle for the Writhing Wall event must progress through three unique themed stages before you can bring down the wall and enter Eastern Solstice. To progress through the first two phases, you must complete daily quests acquired from either the Stirk Fellowship Camp or Sunport Rampart Camp (2025 Content Pass required). Each time you complete one of these daily quests for your server, you help progress the phase.

General Zasimba is found only in the Solstice zone and offers quests to defend the Fellowship’s Siege Camps. Note that Siege Camp quests will remain available after the Battle for the Writhing Wall concludes. These quests can be acquired and completed only by players with access to the 2025 Content Pass.

You can find Orinde Glenuvon on the islands of Stirk or Solstice, and she requires Vitrified Souls from Daedra native to Coldharbour in all phases.

Quartermaster Nurwalne is present on Stirk as well as Solstice, offering quests to gather supplies for the war effort from various regions of Tamriel. These quests are available in all phases.

Armorer Reistaff offers opportunities for crafters to help supply the Stirk Fellowship on either Stirk or Solstice. These quests are available in all phases, with additional quests available in Phase 2.

Skordo wants you!
Stages of the Conflict
As you complete daily quests and defeat cultists and Daedra from Coldharbour, you help your server progress through the event. You can see your server’s current phase and progress on the Battle for the Writhing Wall event page or within your in-game Activity Finder.

Phase 1: Supply and Defense

Help the Stirk Fellowship gather resources for the conflict to come. Phase 1 daily quests sees both sides engage in skirmishes over Siege Camps, and planar incursions begin to affect locations across Tamriel. ALL ESO players can help progress this phase, but only 2025 Content Pass owners can acquire quests on Solstice.

During this phase, the Worm Cult takes over various Delves and Public Dungeons throughout Tamriel, staging them as their invasion sites and marking them on the map. These areas have additional monsters that are more difficult to defeat than the normal inhabitants and are the focus of Orinde Glenuvon's daily quests.

Prepare for war in Phase 1

Phase 2: The Assault Begins

It's time to take the fight to the Worm Cult! Continue to strengthen the war efforts, maintain siege camp defense, and expect vicious counterattacks as Fellowship forces prepare their decisive strike against the wall. ALL ESO players can help progress this phase, but only 2025 Content Pass owners can acquire quests on Solstice.

After Phase 2 begins, Siege Camp incursions occur more frequently and are more difficult to complete. Additionally, the Daedra Ghishzor, a powerful Maldrith, appears as a world boss on Solstice.

The battle ignites in Phase 2

Phase 3: Fall of the Writhing Wall

The Writhing Wall is exposed, and it’s time to break through and clear the Writhing Fortress public instance. Unlike the other phases, which last a variable length of time depending on player successes and mobilization, the third phase lasts one week from when the Writhing Fortress is first completed on a given server, bringing the event to a close after that period. This is your chance to bring down the Writhing Wall for good (and to earn a unique title!), so be ready to dive in when it becomes available. Only players with access to the 2025 Content Pass can attempt and complete this phase.

Enter the Writhing Fortress in Phase 3

Upon the first completion of the Writhing Fortress dungeon, Eastern Solstice is unlocked for all 2025 Content Pass owners on the server. Access to Eastern Solstice allows you to explore the second half of this mysterious island and complete the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 storyline.

Wall Breaker

Those who see the war through till the very end can also earn the “Wall Breaker” title. To earn this reward, you must complete the Writhing Fortress during Phase 3 of the event. This reward can be earned only by players who own the 2025 Content Pass.

Golden Pursuits Campaign

As you participate in the event, you can also earn rewards from the associated Golden Pursuits campaign. The tasks for this campaign complement the event’s activities and challenges, and its rewards include the Coldharbour Dremnaken Runt pet AND Wormwrithe Bear-Lizard mount. Earn a pet and mount with Golden Pursuits!

Eastern Solstice

During your Seasons of the Worm Cult adventure, your access to the second half of Solstice has been blocked by the Writhing Wall—but once the event concludes, you can explore this new region, complete its story, and claim new rewards.

To get there, your server needs to progress the Battle for the Writhing Wall through all three phases and complete the Writhing Fortress public dungeon. Once any players on your server have completed the Writhing Fortress, all 2025 Content Pass owners on that server can begin exploring the newly uncovered territory!

Open access to Eastern Solstice!

Furthermore, at the start of the Battle for the Writhing Wall event, Prince Azah (found in the Sunport Rampart Camp) will grant a new story quest, titled “Crossing the Wall,” to those who have completed the Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 questline. Crossing the Wall serves to continue the Seasons of the Worm Cult story from Part 1 into Part 2. If you wish to continue the saga in Eastern Solstice, be sure to complete this quest first!

Following Microsoft's mass layoffs, former Elder Scrolls Online and Blackbird devs form worker-owned studio

Following Microsoft's mass layoffs earlier this year, a group of former ZeniMax developers have formed a worker-owned studio dubbed Sackbird. Made up of folks who worked on The Elder Scrolls Online and a cancelled MMO codenamed Blackbird, the studio have confirmed they're working on an unnamed original game that'll hit PC and consoles.

Zenimax's Blackbird project was one of numerous games cancelled as Microsoft laid of around 9,000 staff in July, with the ZeniMax Online Studios United union left fighting for the jobs of members affected. Bloomberg subsequently reported that Blackbird was a sci-fi noir-ish third-person shooter with looty bits and lots of vertical movement.

Cyrodiil Cries Out Again for PvP Vengeance!

Return to the Vengeance PvP campaign to help test newly performant additions, including tweaks to siege weaponry, armor skill lines, and guild skill lines.

We’re continuing to add to the options in the Vengeance campaign for Cyrodiil, and we need your help to test our latest additions! Join in a newly updated Vengeance campaign during its return on all platforms from today until Monday, September 29 at 10 AM EDT, and help provide vital data and feedback for the Alliance War.
Vengeance Basics
For those warriors unfamiliar with the Vengeance champaign, you can participate by following the below steps:
  1. Navigate to the Alliance War menu
    1. Either by pressing L on your keyboard or navigating directly via the UI
  2. Select the Campaigns tab
  3. Select Cyrodiil and then the Vengeance campaign

The Vengeance campaign is open to all players level 10-50 and introduces a special ruleset to the Alliance War, templatizing player builds to help improve game stability and performance.
  • All players have normalized stats regardless of level
  • Each Class has a modified set of abilities and items
  • While in Vengeance, you cannot access your bank, vendors, or crafting nodes
  • Only Experience Points, Alliance Points, gold, and Champion Points are retained upon leaving the campaign, and no items can be taken out
  • The Champion System is disabled in this campaign
  • All quests are disabled in this campaign

Upon entering the campaign, your character is changed to match a specific template for their class. As mentioned above, this includes pre-determined abilities, attributes, consumables, and item sets. It also includes a backpack of supplies that cannot be removed from the campaign.

Note that the templatizing of characters is an experiment and does not necessarily mean that these changes will be made to the Alliance War in the future. By introducing templatized characters for this specific test, we can isolate the variables that impact performance, helping us plan future improvements.
New Options for War
For your battles in the Vengeance campaign, we’ve now enabled meatbag catapults, as well as performance-tailored skill lines for the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild, plus an armor skill line with active abilities for light, medium, and heavy armor.

Watch the skies!

As with other additions to Vengeance, these new options are tuned to minimize their disruption to the game’s performance while still providing satisfyingly devastating combat power. For example, meatbag catapults can still cause massive damage on impact with players, but no longer leave a lingering ground effect. Missed a kill the first time? Reload and fire again!

Additionally, certain progression and cosmetic systems have been brought to Vengeance to test their performance impact. Skyshards, mount selection (along with any collectibles normally allowed in Cyrodiil), titles, and achievements have been re-enabled. No need to leave Cyrodiil to swap to your favorite horse (or guar). Dazzle your fellows at a siege with your stylish choices—just don’t get distracted from the fight!
The Three Banners March On
Are you excited to fling putrefied meat over a keep wall or wield the techniques of the Fighters and Mages Guilds? Perhaps you’re just pleased to see Vengeance return again with its massive battles? Whatever your thoughts, let us know via Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter)Instagram, and Facebook
