Waking Flame DLC Game Pack
Uncover evils in The Elder Scrolls Online: Waking Flame with two amazing new dungeons: Red Petal Bastion and the Dread Cellar. While both PvE challenges explore unique stand-alone stories, they also expand upon the year-long Gates of Oblivion adventure and set up the events of the upcoming Deadlands DLC (arriving later in 2021).

Red Petal Bastion

For centuries, the noble Knights of the Silver Rose had protected the people from Tamriel from the forces of Oblivion, but recently, the order has begun indiscriminately looting nearby shrines to collect holy relics, which they add to their fortress, the Red Petal Bastion.

A devotee of Azura needs your help to confront this once-noble order, reclaim his stolen artifacts, and discover the secret behind the order’s sudden and violent turn.

The Dread Cellar

Whispered to be one of the Empire’s most-feared prisons, the Dread Cellar, long thought abandoned, has begun emanating mysterious magical energies. Now home to the cultists of the Waking Flame and their Daedric minions, this once-feared site holds new evils for any would-be adventurers.

A pair of Imperial Battlemages needs your assistance in their investigation of the prison’s activity, but what role does the Dread Cellar’s own past have in the cultists’ fiendish plans? And to what lengths might the Battlespire go to protect the Empire’s secrets?

Both dungeons are filled with a host of challenging boss battles to overcome and mysteries to uncover, and both are available in Normal, Veteran, and Hard Mode difficulties for groups seeking difficult opposition. Finally, each dungeon also holds a series unique item sets, Achievements, and collectibles for you to loot and earn, ensuring the rewards are equal to the risks—good luck!
Getting Started
You can access The Elder Scrolls Online: Waking Flame DLC game pack via ESO Plus membership or purchase it for 1,500 crowns from the in-game Crown Store (listed under DLC). Note that if your ESO Plus membership lapses, you will lose access to the DLC until you renew your membership or purchase it with crowns, but you won’t lose any items, Achievements, or other rewards you earned while you had access.

The Waking Flame Collector’s Bundle is also available for 4,000 crowns and includes access to the DLC game pack, the Silver Rose Senche-Serval mount, the Ironclad Senche-Serval Kitten pet, and five Crown Experience Scrolls. You can purchase the Collector’s Bundle from the Featured section of the in-game Crown Store.

With access to the Waking Flame DLC, you can continue your Gates of Oblivion adventure by the following methods:
 • By teleporting directly into the two dungeons from your map
 • By using the Dungeon Finder tool
 • By walking up to the dungeon entrances within Blackwood (Dread Cellar) and within Glenumbra (Red Petal Bastion)

Finally, simply by entering either of these two new dungeons, you’ll receive the Scorion Pyreling pet!
Update 31
In addition to Waking Flame, the Update 31 base-game patch will arrive in tandem with the DLC as a free update for all ESO players. This update includes assorted bug fixes, balance changes, performance improvements, and a series of quality-of-life additions.

This includes the ability to toggle between HDR modes on consoles in your Settings menu, the addition of Dynamic Resolution Scaling (creating a more responsive framerate experience and providing generally higher resolutions when running in Performance Mode on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5), a beta for Multithreaded Rendering on PC (potentially improving framerates), and a Reply function for your in-game mail. In addition to this, an assortment of new houses, furnishings, and houseguests will arrive in in-game Crown store in the coming months.

Elder Scrolls Online's new dungeon turned me into a sweet roll-scarfing goat

The Elder Scrolls Online's new DLC, Waking Flame, brings two new four-player, three-boss dungeons to tackle: The Dread Cellar and Red Petal Bastion. The latter's all about a bunch of tomb raiders called the Knights of the Silver Rose, who once protected Tamriel from Daedric threats but have since strayed from their righteous path. They've been pillaging the precious relics of nearby temples and piling them high in the bowels of their stronghold. The problem is, those artefacts have been seeping some Daedric nastiness into the place, and the warriors of Red Petal Bastion have become consumed with corruption. Well, it happens.

It's this band of glorified treasure hoarders that I got to battle in a demo session with lead encounter designer Mike Finnigan, creative director Rich Lambert, and dungeon team product owner Shane Slama ahead of the DLC's launch. But one heck of a surprise lay in wait: a boss so imbued with Daedric mischief he turned my crew and I into sweet roll-scarfing goats.

The dungeon starts much as you'd expect. A wronged artefact owner wants his goodies back and the slightly scary Dremora 'Foolkiller' Lyranth will help, but only if she gets to keep one very specific relic. We battle early waves of enemies, like Silver Rose archers, warriors, and pyromancers, in the courtyards outside, one of whom is tormenting a poor doggo by hogging a roast chicken leg. So, in the words of Finnigan, she "deserve[d] all the death for that". Quite right. We pound her and her booty-burgling kind into the ground - y'know, for the oppressed mutts of Tamriel.
