Beta Updates (Combat Speed Toggle, Adventurers Personalities and Dialog)

Adventurers,

A new update has just been pushed to the Beta branch enabling a new combat speed toggle (Bottom right corner), allowing you to adjust the pace of battles to your preference.

Additionally, adventurer personalities are now in the game! Your party members will speak up about what they like and dislike and react dynamically to events, such as a companion falling in battle or sometimes speaking up about being assigned a job that they don't like. There are over 1000+ lines and to avoid spam some of it is random as far as frequency. Based on feedback this may become a toggle if you truly wish to increase the volume but after many hours didn't want to overwhelm everyone.

You can see the personalities in the stats window. On old save files you will notice all are set to the adventurer.

Expect more immersive and engaging interactions as your adventurers develop their own unique voices. A way to view their personalities before you hire them in the tavern is coming next update as a way to interview members before you hire. But want to gather some feedback first.

The live branch has been updated with the previous beta changes of the 2 Handed Weapons and Town Donation windows.

Adding some more events to the game next along with the much needed buffs to enemies.

Try out the new features and let us know what you think! Your feedback is always appreciated and for the full patch notes you can check them out Here.

The remaining Update 2 features are getting implemented.

The immediate ones coming up which I have personally been looking forward to implementing is the Personality/Socialization mechanics, combat speed toggles, and new enemy abilities to really distinguish enemies more and provide a bit more strategy in their favor since player abilities have pushed the advantage the opposite way.

More details about that will be coming soon. As always keep making suggestions as a lot of features have been added from quality of life requests, overall game suggestions and expectations from the community.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Beta Updates (Ambushes, Barbershop, Blacksmith Repairs, Battle Formations)

Adventurers,

A new build has been pushed to the beta branch (version 0.7.1.5) adding several key features

  1. Ambushes will now lock you into combat for 3 rounds. You must try and survive before you are able to run away, making your choices in events a little more important on your actions. For example avoiding an event early vs attempting to flee later.
  2. Repair window has been added to the Blacksmith
  3. Battle formations have been added to the stats window. You can change the type of formation you want and then change your party order in order to get it the way you wish.
  4. Barbershop now added located in the town hall for more customization
  5. New instant death toggle added to new games. This is off by default but this avoids the 3 rounds of a character bleeding out before death.
  6. Many additional bug fixes

Patch 0.7.1.3 pushed to live

Adventurers,

Wanted to give a heads up that patch 0.7.1.3 has been pushed to live. For the full patch notes you can check them out here :Latest Patch Notes

Some key highlights from the patch are
  • Several new discoverable events
  • Ally deaths will now drop equipment. Though typically one piece will likely be destroyed due to the wounds.
  • Additional item rewards for some of the quests specifically more magic items
  • Staff and Arcane Staff have been added with animations
  • The ability to heal outside of combat in the camp window. (This isn't exactly efficient versus just resting but it's your resources, and up to you if you want to use potions)
  • As already pushed but not discussed several UI adjustments have been made.
  • Some additional balance fixes
  • Cleric is live
  • Full portrait revamp

Thank you all for the support, as your feedback not only helps gameplay functionality and overall feel of the game but also helps pay artists to provide some additional art support as well.

More details about the remaining features in Update/Milestone 2 will be discussed soon, as there is still a lot to go.

Beta Updates (New - UI, Portraits, Cleric, Dying System, and Character Creator)

Adventurers,

There is now also a new game start option that will be fleshed out with more of the updates soon. However for now this will allow you to customize your starting party as well as customize the first party member's stats based on several questions similar to many old school RPGs.

The previous default template sandbox game starts will still persist but most of the content for update 2 milestone will fall in this category based on your choices. For the other starts they may just randomly appear.

Also, with this update all character portraits have been updated in preparation for the barbershop coming soon. This will provide a lot more customization options going forward along with the ability to easily add more combinations going forward for the game's sake.

The store's page will be updated once all this hits the full live branch next week assuming no major issues.

Also, due to the new introduction of the healer, when a character hits 0 hit points in combat, you now have 3 turns for which to save the member. Healing them or ending combat quickly are multiple ways to save said unlucky member. Based on feedback this may change, but also will likely be a customized option by the end of the milestone if you wish to not use this.
