DevBlog #3 - Cannon Fodder

Here, have a bullet in the face!
[p]Every horde has them: Cannon Fodder Enemies.[/p][p]In Games like Left4Dead, they are the simple zombies, in Deep Rock Galactic its the Glyphid Grunt and in Space Marine 2 its the Terminid Hormagaunt.[/p][p]In Earths Edges first faction, the Lunomites, its the simple Lunom Grunt.[/p][p]
[/p][h2]The scanners just lit up like a Christmas tree![/h2][p]You'll be facing off against these grunts as you explore the Edge of this world. Easy to spot:[/p]
  • [p]Low health[/p]
  • [p]Almost never encountered alone[/p]
  • [p]Highly aggressive and fire sensitive[/p]

[/p][hr][/hr][h2]But why?[/h2][p]As some of you might now, we wanted to make a Mech FPS / Horde Shooter hybrid. That obviously means creating some swarm enemies that will keep you on your toes during the missions![/p][p]Lunom Grunts are exceptionally harmless on their own, but have their strength in numbers. If you get surrounded, you might be in a bit of trouble.[/p][p]If you are keen on using shotguns, LMGs or incendiary grenades, you'll have an easy time against those.[/p][p][/p][hr][/hr][p][/p][h2]Log Entry: Madness[/h2][p][c]They were too human to be called monsters. Too aware, too broken, too shattered. They were more like echoes of something humans once used to be.[/c][/p][p][c]It feels like a simple touch of the ore could infect them with something alive. Their skin cracked, and light seeped from within. Within mere days, crystalline structures began to grow from their flesh and bones, bursting outward as if the Lunom itself was trying to break free.[/c][/p][p][c]They called them Lunomites. Mutated creatures that somehow retained a human resemblance. Lunom controlled them, pulsating within their new host, learning and remembering as they controlled their new body. DevBlog #2 - EM-BR Customization

Your EM-BR, Your Rules
[p]When assembling your own EM-BR, you'll be able to exactly control the speed, health and abilities of your Unit. Every armor-attachment will have their own unique armor and health modifier that will affect the EM-BRs total Health and movement speed.[/p][p]Heavy Armor will drastically increase your health and damage resistance while trading off some movement speed, while light armor will still provide some protection at basically no cost to your mobility.[/p][p]
[/p][h2]Bring Out The Big Guns[/h2][p]You'll be able to choose from a variety of primary weapons, each filling their own niche. From a heavy high explosive revolver for reliable crowd control to a powerful railgun to take care of heavily armored single targets, I'm sure you'll find your favorite! :)[/p][p]We are also currently experimenting with dedicated melee weapons for your EM-BR, so stay tuned for that![/p][p]
[/p][hr][/hr][h2]EM-BR Hardpoints[/h2][p]In addition to the armor-pieces and primary weapons, you'll also be able to unlock and equip your EM-BRs hardpoints with a variety of modules to suit your own playstyle:[/p][p] [/p][p]Secondary Hardpoint:[/p][p]- Impact Cannon for further crowd control
- 20mm AP Burst for heavily armored targets
- Experimental Plasma Ejector for a big explosion
- With more unlocks in the future!

[/p][p]Spinal Hardpoint:[/p][p]- Jump Jets for quick vertical repositioning
- Barrier Projector to protect against incoming fire
- Impulse Thrusters to rapidly change your movement vector
- More to come!

[/p][p]Left and Right Shoulder Hardpoints:[/p][p]- Lock-On Missiles to track high mobility foes
- Micro Missiles for sustained AoE damage
- Additional 20mm AP-Bursts for more single target damage
- And more!


The modules for the Left and Right Shoulder Hardpoint can be mixed and matched, so you'll be able to equip e.g. the Lock-On Missiles on the left shoulder, on the right shoulder or both![/p][p]Please ignore the placeholder images of my cats :) Also check out our website for a moving GIF![/p][p]Note: Hardpoints, modules, and abilities are subject to change during development and may not appear in the final version.[/p][hr][/hr][p][/p][h2]Additional Customization[/h2][p]Furthermore, you'll be able to customize the Color of your Mechs Armor and Weapons by unlocking Camos! Let's talk about Classes!
[p]At TeaMug, we wanted to give as much freedom of loadout customization as possible into the hands of the players. However, to keep things a little more interesting, we've opted to implement 4 well known classes:[/p]
  • [p]Assault:[/p]
    • [p]A movement focused Class, capable of navigating the Edges very efficiently.[/p]
  • [p]Heavy:[/p]
    • [p]A class focused on defensive abilities, keeping himself and the team alive[/p]
  • [p]Scout:[/p]
    • [p]As a self sufficient class, you'll be able to call down air-support from the ark and excel at long ranges[/p]
  • [p]Engineer:[/p]
    • [p]This class utilizes turrets or other fortifications to keep swarming enemies at bay[/p]
[p]Note: The abilities each class will be able to choose are subject to change, and/or may be scrapped entirely based on future playtesting.[/p][p][/p][h2]Loadout Customization[/h2][p]You'll be able to choose from 5 primary weapons, 3 unique secondary weapons and a variety of grenades. We're working on bringing in even more, but these are the ones currently beeing actively supported.[/p][p]At launch, each class will also have 2 Abilities to choose from, like the Grappling Hook, a deployable Rocket-Turret or an Airstrike.[/p][p]Even though every class can play every weapon, the Assault class, for example, receives a certain bonus when the Assault Rifle is selected, such as a slightly faster reload speed.[/p][p]So you'll be able to mix and match every Grenade, Ability, Primary and Secondary to your own playstyle.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][h2]Gear Customization[/h2][p]Of course, you'll be able to customize your Scorcher! We're currently planning on different camo variants, along with swappable helmets. You'll be able to unlock skins or gear by playing the game, no paid DLC planned![/p][p]
