The Circle Empires 2 Demo is OUT NOW!
Hey everyone,
[p][/p]
We’re back, and this time you get to step into the circle!

The Circle Empires 2 demo is out now!
[p][/p][p]Check out our brand-new demo trailer to see what we have in store:
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]This sequel builds on the strongest aspects of the previous games and adds huge amounts of freedom. On top of the fast-paced conquest, powerful units, and of course, gorgeous smooth circles, you can design your own units![/p][p]The unit designer allows you to select a base creature (human, ghost, frogman, vampire etc) and equip it with weapons and armor. Each creature and piece of equipment has unique advantages and drawbacks. Mermaids swim well, but frogmen move faster on land. Want to not die? Wear a helmet! Now you’ll need gold to buy that unit, though. Want to not take an arrow in the knee? Use a shield! But now it's more difficult to attack the enemies... [/p][p]Sometimes, unarmored guys with clubs are the best solution; sometimes, a vampire in full kit with a huge shield wielding a crossbow is needed for the job. [/p][p]The aim is always to make equipment choices situational without a clear best pick.
[/p][p]The landscape system has also been completely revised. You can combine layers of walls, moats, and natural obstacles to create impenetrable fortresses. Necromancer Towers freeze the land, making it unsuitable for farming. Enough catapult fire can turn beautiful grassland to desert. Water holes are great for agriculture, but really bad for worker movement – unless you plan your layout carefully (or create workers that can swim).
[/p][p]Both the unit editor and landscape granularity are planned to be expanded heavily. We're going to put units on top of each other, allowing mounted units in the unit editor, custom-made towers, and new base creatures, weapons & terrain types.[/p][p]In this demo, you’ll get to play as 4 different leaders with unique unit selections. Explore the Full Conquest and Daily Challenge game modes and tweak your games with a handful of map sizes and difficulty settings – both in single and multiplayer! [/p][p]This is our first public slice of Circle Empires 2. We’re beyond excited to get to share it with you, and we can’t wait to hear what you all think. As always, if you have questions, comments and concerns, please leave a review on our Demo page! It’s the easiest way to help us get the demo in front of as many eyes as possible.
[/p][p]Thank you once again for all your support, and go conquer some circles![/p][p]Luminous [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p]

Circle Empires 2: Demo out on June 6th!
Hey everyone,
We’ve been counting the days, and now it’s official: the first public demo of Circle Empires 2 goes live on June 6th as part of Steam Next Fest! 🎉

This is a huge moment for us! It’s the first time the game is out in the wild for everyone to try. Whether you’re here for the chaotic conquests, the competitive streak, or just to see what we’ve been quietly cooking up… we can’t wait to hear what you think.

So what’s in the demo?

You’ll get access to both singleplayer and multiplayer (including LAN and dedicated servers!). Four unique leaders are ready to command, each with their own twist, from the icy resolve of Wiz the Wizzrd to the undead experiments of Nethier the Necromancer.

We’ve also packed in two game modes: a classic full conquest experience and a prototype of our upcoming Daily Challenges. You’ll be able to tweak difficulty, map size, modifiers, and try out a variety of races, mounts, weapons, and structures to get a real feel for this worthy sequel!

It’s just a slice of what’s to come, but there’s a lot to sink your teeth into. We’ll be keeping an eye out during Next Fest to chat & collect feedback! So make sure to drop any feedback you have – whether it’s positive or negative – right here on Steam or over on our Discord.

June 6th. Wishlist the game. Play the demo. Tell us everything.

Got it?

See you soon,
Luminous

We Just Ran Our First Alpha Playtest!
Hey everyone,
We’ve been keeping it quiet, but we're happy to report that our first round of playtesting is done and dusted!

Last month, we previewed Circle Empires 2 for the very first time to a handful of enthusiastic community members. In this limited Alpha Playtest, players were given a first look at our upcoming sequel, while also helping us work out some of the kinks, balance the game’s difficulty, and get a feel for the general direction of the game.

We want to thank every single playtester for their participation and we’re very happy we’ve taken this step and feel reassured about our direction. However we can’t wait to get more opinions… and there might just be a way to share yours sooner than you think!

We’re still keeping things under wraps, but keep an eye on our blogs to find out more in the coming weeks.

Circle Empires 2: Talking About Our Favourite RTS Games!

Hey everyone,

Last week was all about celebrating Real-Time Strategy games here on Steam! Being part of RTS Fest brought us a lot of joy. It was an honour to be listed among so many games that inspired us and pick up some titles that’ll inspire us in the future!

To celebrate the festival, we wrote a blog highlighting a handful of our favourite RTS! Some of these games - particularly Age of Empires and Warcraft 3 - greatly impacted how we work on and think about our games!

If you missed that blog, we’ve got you: we wrote an abridged version, so you can still dive into our favourite RTS!

Warcraft 3 boasts the best 4-player Free For All mode in any RTS, thanks to its hero-centric gameplay. Heroes gain power through battles, creating a compelling reason to engage rather than play passively, which often leads to stale matches.

Age of Empires 1 and 2 hold a special place in our hearts. We spent countless hours playing the AOE1 demo campaign, and reveled in being immersed in AOE2’s fantasy of being a medieval king!

Total Annihilation was one of Luminous dev Mihkel’s first RTS experiences. Its innovative unit command system, impressive 3D physics, and diverse units captivated him, despite its steep hardware requirements and less intuitive mechanics compared to traditional RTS games. Who could forget the thrill of sea planes landing underwater and flying builders constructing cannons?

We’d also like to shine a light on some underrated gems that fly under the radar from time to time. Knights and Merchants features a unique economy system, and fans have even created a complete remake called KamRemake. And then there’s Beasts and Pumpkins, which offers a fascinating live economy where characters age, eat, and engage in battles, adding a quirky twist to the RTS genre.

These are just a handful of the games that inspired us throughout the years. As we work on Circle Empires 2, revisiting the games we grew up with and figuring out what makes them tick has been incredibly helpful!

What are some of your favourite RTS’? Old or new, we wanna hear about them!
