[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p]We owe you an update and an honest apology. We originally targeted a January release for Episode 2 and we missed it. Let's talk about where things stand and when you can expect to play it.[/p][h2]What Happened[/h2][p]We hit a snag over the past few weeks due to some health issues on the team, which slowed us down more than we'd like to admit. We're getting back to full speed now and wanted to be upfront about that rather than go silent.[/p][h2]What's Happening Right Now [/h2][p]All renders are complete. We're currently re-rendering a key nighttime scene with improved camera angles and exposure — we weren't happy with how it looked and decided to redo it properly rather than ship something below our standards. We're also adding a few transition scenes to improve pacing in a pivotal sequence, and the script for one of the final scenes wraps tomorrow. Episode 2 is significantly larger and more complex than Episode 1 — more branching paths, more scene variations, and a new corruption-level choice system that goes well beyond the binary Good Wife vs. Veil Path structure of EP1. We need to make sure every path plays correctly, every transition feels right, and every animation fires when it should. Rushing QA on something this ambitious would be a disservice to you.[/p][p]We are targeting a February release.[/p][h2]What To Expect From Episode 2[/h2][p]We don't want to spoil anything, but Episode 2 puts story front and center. Expect big reveals around characters you thought you understood, moments that recontextualize choices from Episode 1, and a much deeper sense that Sofia's decisions actually matter — with escalating consequences depending on how far you're willing to go. The corruption system now offers a real spectrum, not just two locked paths.[/p][p]We know the wait has been longer than any of us wanted, and we appreciate your patience more than you know. On pacing: We heard you. Episode 1 was intentionally designed to feel slow and repetitive — that's Sofia's controlled, routine life from her POV. The "Groundhog Day" feeling is the point. Episode 2 shatters that rhythm. Hard.

On scene transitions: You said Episode 1 transitions felt sluggish. Fixed. Both episodes now have snappier, faster-paced transitions.

On AI animations: Some facial animations hit uncanny valley, especially smiles. We've redone them with audio and better placement — fewer, higher quality, serving the narrative instead of distracting from it.

On content intensity: Episode 2 escalates. This is a 15-episode story — we're building, not rushing.

The team is back in the trenches working on the final stretch of Episode 2, specifically Scene 10b. We believe in total transparency with our community, so we have quite a bit to cover today—from personnel changes to a new "Transparency Dashboard" regarding the game's reception.



[h2]Team Updates: Making Difficult Decisions[/h2]
As we approached the completion of Scene 10b, we faced a major bottleneck. We've had to make a difficult decision to part ways with one of our artists. Sometimes the fit isn't right, and we needed to prioritize the release timeline.

We are looking to see how we can expand our team, but we have pretty high standards for Sofia's Dark Fantasies.

The Good News: Luckily, we had hired another artist back in December. She has been incredible, hitting the ground running and already elevating the visual quality of the upcoming scenes. This move ensures that when Episode 2 drops, it will look exactly how we envisioned it.

[h2]Addressing Feedback & The "Perception Gap"[/h2]
We read everything. We see the negative reviews drifting in on Steam, and we want to acknowledge the valid concerns raised:

  • The "Hobo" Plot: Many of you are frustrated with this character arc. We hear you — but we'd ask you not to judge the full story after just the first chapter. Not everything is as it appears, and Episode 2 will shed new light on moments you thought you understood.
  • Pacing: Concerns about the slow burn in the early game.
  • Visual Inconsistencies: Spotting the difference between older assets and new ones.


However, we also noticed a massive "Feedback Dissonance." The reviews on Steam paint one picture, but the data we collect directly from players (via the private feedback forms in the Main Menu, at the end of Ep1, and the Halloween Special) paints a very different one.

To clear the air, we decided to aggregate all that private data and publish it for you to see.

[h2]A Surprise Update for Episode 1[/h2]
We know Episode 1 had some growing pains. We heard your complaints about the "weird smiles" in the animations and the pacing of the car scenes.

  • The Car Scenes: These were intentionally slow to reflect the boredom of Sofia's life, but we agree they dragged on. We have reduced this friction in Days 3 and 4.
  • The Animation Overhaul: We have gone back and redone 41 animations in Episode 1, now with full voice acting to match the quality we are achieving in Episode 2.

A Note on Sound Design: If time permits, we plan to redo some NSFW animations from Ep1 with sound effects. However, we have to be careful—adding hyper-realistic audio to hyper-realistic visuals can risk a Steam ban under their "Adult Content" classification rules. We will push the immersion as far as we safely can!

[h2]Episode 2: "Dark Whispers" Preview[/h2]
We are working hard to ensure Episode 2 addresses the narrative concerns from Ep1. The emphasis is shifting heavily toward Story and Sofia's Power of Choice.

  • More meaningful choices — we're moving away from the binary "Good Wife" vs. "Veil Path" in every scene.
  • Story payoffs that re-contextualize moments from Episode 1.


Episode 2 By The Numbers:
  • Total Images: ~1,860 - 1,900
  • Total Animations: ~250 (Approx. 70 SFW, remainder NSFW)
  • Total Playtime: ~3 Hours
  • Path Length: ~60-90 minutes per path (depending on corruption choices)


Release Timeline: We're pushing hard to get Episode 2 into your hands in January. The recent team changes have added some uncertainty, but we're doing everything we can to hit that window. We appreciate your patience — we'd rather take a little extra time than rush something that doesn't meet our standards.

We are back to working full steam ahead. We wanted to share these hard choices with you because we'd rather be transparent than miss a release date without explanation.

Update on Episode 2 Development

[p][/p][p]We want to be completely transparent with you about where we are with Episode 2.[/p][p]We've hit a significant setback. Due to a resourcing and communication breakdown with one of our artists, a major scene (10b) that was reported as complete on the 20th never materialized. We don't have it. It needs to be created from scratch.[/p][p]Despite weeks of follow-up and doing everything we could to support delivery—offering our own devices for remote work (our scenes are large and resource-intensive) and extending every reasonable deadline—the work simply never came through.[/p][p]This has been exhausting and demoralizing, honestly. But we're not here to point fingers. Sometimes things don't work out despite everyone's best intentions, and we have to move forward.[/p][p]Where we are:[/p]
  • [p]Renders: 1,800 finished, ~155 remaining (scene 10b)[/p]
  • [p]AI polish: 1,450 images done[/p]
  • [p]Script: 80% complete (~2 days to finish once renders are in)[/p]
  • [p]Animations: 30% complete (~4 days to finish once renders are in)[/p]
[p]This means Episode 2 is already bigger than Episode 1—and we've done it in 90 days.[/p][p]What we've done:[/p][p]We've restructured our team to make sure this can't happen again. We tested 5 new artists and kept 2 on staff, growing our team with one more potentially joining in January. We're building a pipeline with redundancy so one breakdown can't derail an entire release.[/p][p]We've also decided to raise the bar on NSFW content. We brought in a specialist to repose our NSFW scenes—she's incredible, and we've invested in a new PC for her so she can work faster. She's redone 450 images so far, with approximately 120 left in this release.[/p][p]What this means for the release:[/p][p]The other two artists on our team pulled incredibly hard through November and December trying to cover the gap—they've earned a break over the holidays. We're restarting work around January 5th and targeting mid-to-late January to complete scene 10b and wrap up the remaining work.[/p][p]When it does land, Episode 2 will be our best work yet—better NSFW scenes, a stronger team, and a more resilient pipeline going forward.[/p][p]We'll also be hosting a sale in January once Episode 2 releases—for those who bought the game and refunded when Episode 2 didn't arrive as expected, we want to give you a chance to come back at a discount.[/p][p]We're genuinely sorry for the delay.
