Rain World is now 60% off!

Hey, slugcats!

The base game Rain World is now 60% off!

This is the best opportunity to grab the base game before raising the base game price to $24.99 and updating the regional pricing for the game in February. I want to reiterate the reasons we are raising the price.

1) We're changing the base game with the Remix update and that was a lot of effort and work. Bumping up the price helps reflect that time and effort.

2) It helps keep the DLC price lower for longtime members of the community. If you bought Rain World in 2017, you got it for cheaper than someone coming into the game now and we think you guys deserve that discount.

3) We're changing the development direction of Rain World. The original price reflected a finished game whereas the new price reflects that we want to develop more for Rain World.

4) The process of picking the game up from another publisher was an expensive one and they still get a cut of all of our sales. Bumping the price a little helps to offset that reality.

Anyway, like a lot of decisions in game development, this one was kind of a confluence of a bunch of factors all pointing in the same direction. And I definitely wanted to be fair to you guys by announcing the price change way ahead of time so that nobody is bamboozled by it. This also won't change the discounts we list Rain World at so for anyone looking to pick up the game on sale, they'll have an easy time finding a good price for it.

Fans of survival sim Rain World have spent 5 years making an expansion so big, it's practically a sequel

The humble Slugcat—the adorably squishy critter at the heart of Rain World—has long been one of my white whales. I’ve tried (and failed) to master the art of survival in the Slugcat's uncompromising world several times since 2017. With the release of Downpour, it finally clicked. On top of being a titanic extension for the thorny survival-sim platformer, the Downpour expansion, after five years in development, goes a long way to making the original game more accessible and less intimidating—before unleashing a sequel’s worth of fresh horrors upon me and overwhelming me all over again...
Rain World: Remix features
• Steam Workshop
 • In game mod loader
 • Russian and Chinese languages
 • Accessibility options
 • Bug fixes
Note: If you have modded your files, then Rain World: Remix will not launch. You will need to do a complete reinstall of Rain World. Remove the Rain World folder from Steam. The folder will typically be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rain World then verify the game files.

Uninstalling the game through Steam does not delete all files and so you must manually delete the Rain World folder and then reinstall through Steam.

One more final note with the launch of Downpour and Remix. We have set up two branches on Steam so if you like to revert back to ver. 1.5 or ver. 1.01 for any reason then you can. Right click Rain World in the library and click properties. Under the “beta” tab, you can select the 1.5 build by selecting “legacy” or select 1.01 build by selecting “legacy” from the drop down menu.

Rain World: Downpour adds so much content to a game beloved by the community. We’ve been very honored to work with such an amazing community to develop Downpour. Again be sure to give thanks to all the amazing community members who worked on developing the DLC.
