Preview: three new protests

Hi!
With Velvet 89 right around the corner (October 17th, everyone!), we felt we might as well show you some birds-eye views of the protests you’ll encounter in game.

For this batch, we selected three of them, each important to how Velvet Revolution played out. Keep in mind these are pre-final so some changes might occur.
Národní street, Prague
The pivotal moment of the Velvet Revolution, a scene depicting mere moments before regime police attacked and brutally beaten the peaceful protesters. In the game, you’ll learn more about the motivations of those who came to the demonstration.
České budějovice
We wanted to show how the revolution spread into regions, so on the main square of this south bohemian city, you’ll encounter both those who are very much pro democracy, as well as those who are more cautious.
Letná, Prague
And finally, Letná in Prague! The biggest demonstration (more than 800 000 in real life!), a clear sign that times are about to change and that the general strike is about to happen.

If you feel like these are big, then do not worry. We have a handy hint system in place to help you if you get lost and these are zoomed-out views of the scenes. In the game (that releases on October 17th, yay!), you’ll be much closer to the ground, able to spot all the differences between our characters much more easily.

So that’s it for today’s preview! We are so much looking forward to showing you the whole thing.

Spread the word and let us know what you’ll looking forward the most in Velvet 89 :)

Have a great day,
Ondřej

First level, first look: Teplice

Hi! We can’t wait to show you the full game, but for now, a sneak peek of the first level will have to do. It is a level set in northern Bohemian city of Teplice – where in 1989 an environmental protest began, suddenly and quickly turning into anti-regime demonstrations.

It is an often-overlooked chapter of the Velvet Revolution and we hope our game can shed at least a little light onto it. Check the outline of the level at:

If this sparked your interest, you can learn more about these protests on the Czech Radio website.

Also, if you like our game, consider sharing a word.

Until next time,
Ondřej
