[Dev Notes] March 12 Update brings New Agent 'Jammer' and other Tactical Shifts
[p]Hello all, this is Sequoia Yang from the ARC Team.[/p][p]The first content update since our Feb 5 Early Access is coming very soon this week, on March 12! We teased it a little while back, and as it is almost here, today we'd like to share the specific details of what's coming in this exciting new update.[/p][p] [/p]
New Agent: Jammer joins the Defense roster!
[p]Jammer is our latest Defense-side, Tactician role Agent who uses EMP technology (originally researched within an anti-tech extremist organization) to neutralize all enemy electronic equipment. His Nullifier EMP Mine detects nearby enemy electronics and immediately triggers an EMP burst to disable them.[/p][p]It can neutralize projectiles from Zen's Sticky Launcher and Kayak's Remote Charges, as well as Karnival's Explosive Hammer (yes, apparently that thing counts as electronics!), preventing barricade destruction. It can also disable Buddy's Drill Cameras and Whistle's Blue Chip Trackers, making it useful for intel gathering, and it can even neutralize Red Chip Boosters and Blue Zone Grenades to block enemy pushes.[/p][p]Sounds pretty powerful, right? In practice, it requires tactical thinking to predict enemy movements and place it in the right spot, so we see it as a tool that adds a meaningful layer of strategy and tactics to the game.[/p][p]Jammer is the first Agent in PUBG: BLINDSPOT designed specifically to counter other Agents' gadgets and abilities directly. His impact is expected to be big, and we hope that with him, players can open up creative defensive strategies that can break through aggressive tool-heavy compositions. Since this mechanic is being tried for the first time, we'd really appreciate thorough testing and feedback from the community. We personally think it’s super fun, and we also hope you enjoy![/p][p]Take a look at how Jammer is going to operate in our new video below.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Level Structure Changes
[p]In certain maps and areas of PUBG: BLINDSPOT, Attackers can rush in and immediately plant the Decrypter the moment they enter through an exterior wall, enabling a so-called "rush plant" strategy that catches Defenders off guard before they can react or even have time to set up their defenses. While we originally thought this would create interesting variety compared to other zones, what we've seen in practice is that both Attackers and Defenders have been over-investing in the rush plant strategy, leaving other tactics by the wayside. It takes away the depth of the overall game we aim for.[/p][p]With this March 12 update, we're reducing the range of valid Decrypter placement spots beyond the windows on the Red House B map and the Third Hub A map. This should make rush planting harder in those areas and give Attackers more room to use varied strategies.[/p][p]Interestingly, Defender win rates in these two maps are already significantly higher compared to other maps, suggesting the rush plant strategy for Attackers wasn't always as effective as it seemed. We're hoping to see more diverse tactics play out on both maps going forward.[/p][p]On another note, in some maps there are zones where Defenders are able to spawn and immediately push out to attack the opposing team. This so-called "spawn kill" situation has become overwhelmingly powerful. While the level design does reveal Defender positions when they step outside, the map structure still makes it difficult for Attackers to respond effectively.[/p][p]With this update, we're also adding cover objects to the outdoor areas of the Velvet Pavilion, Red House, and Heritage Hospital maps, making it harder to directly target enemies right at their spawn point. Rushing the opposing team as they approach from spawn can be a fun counter-play option, but when it becomes the dominant strategy, that's not something we want to encourage. We'll continue to monitor and balance any areas that remain problematic, meaning anything that can make a map too one-sided and unequal.[/p][p] [/p]
5v5 Competitive Mode & Current Game State
[p]We've been seeing a growing number of time slots where matchmaking in Competitive has become harder. Post-launch traffic drop-off is a natural trend, but the decline has been a bit faster than we anticipated, and we sincerely apologize to players who have experienced long queue times or poor match quality as a result.[/p][p]We have a number of promotional activities and initiatives in the pipeline alongside this update, but we want to be upfront: it may take some time for player counts to recover to a level where Competitive matchmaking runs smoothly at all hours. We appreciate your patience.[/p][p]Starting with Competitive Season 2 coming March 12, you'll be able to queue for ranked matches without party size restrictions, so those of you who've been waiting for 5-player Competitive queues, this one's for you. We'll continue monitoring Competitive matchmaking health and keep looking for ways to make play a more enjoyable experience.[/p][p] [/p]
Team Deathmatch Kill Target Increase
[p]Team Deathmatch is a fun, fast-paced mode where the team with the most kills wins, with a target of 30 kills in a 5-minute time limit. We know TDM has a dedicated fanbase, and we've heard a lot of feedback saying the 30-kill target feels too low for a 5-minute match. You want to make more kills and have more fast and furious fun with TDM, gotcha.[/p][p]With this March 12 update, the time limit stays the same, but the victory kill target is being raised to 50 kills! We hope this makes for a more intense, high-stakes TDM experience with more opportunities for exciting comebacks. We hope you enjoy.[/p][p] [/p]
Your Feedback Is Shaping PUBG: BLINDSPOT Early Access
[p]For a full list of additional changes in this update, please refer to the separate patch notes we'll be sharing on March 11, one day before the actual content patch.[/p][p]We're committed to reflecting community feedback as quickly as possible and doing everything we can to make PUBG: BLINDSPOT the best game it can be.[/p][p]We'll aim to keep the game growing with at least one content update per month going forward.[/p][p]As a little teaser for the next update, the "Yacht" map that sparked a lot of discussion during last August 2025's demo playtest is being completely redesigned from the ground up. We know reactions were mixed among those who played it, but we're building something entirely new: something prettier and more fun, so we hope you can stay tuned![/p][p] [/p][p]Thank you for choosing to play with us at PUBG: BLINDSPOT.[/p][p]See you March 12, mark your calendars for the update![/p][p]Sequoia Yang, ARC Team[/p]
