Blam! Blam! Weekly Update 5 | Multiplayer / Apocalypse Improvements

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to week 5 of our game updates!

Made some nice strides this week towards Blam! Blam! Polished up the game loop for multiplayer. Now the victory screen is a clean transition. We also made some nice improvements towards apocalypse. Bosses now have a chance to drop XP collection orbs. After you get 5 upgrades you then get to level up the tier of your gun much like multiplayer.

Notable Improvements:


Multiplayer:

  • UPDATE: TDM / FFA - Victory Screen shows final score


Apocalypse Mode:
  • NEW: XP collection orb drop
  • NEW: After Level 25 Gun level increase
  • UPDATE: Optimize streaming performance
  • UPDATE: Updated Zombie performance by changing number of times it processes
  • UPDATE: Apocalypse Mode saves Endless Mode and Gun Selection
  • UPDATE: Added Fog Manager and Console fog_on / fog_off to enabled / disable

Apocalypse Mode
  • FIX: Pause menu stops the game again
  • FIX: Ammo Used upgrades actually reduces amount of ammo used
  • UPDATE: Adjusted MiniBoss atmosphere and coloring
  • UPDATE: Reduced map fog for better visibility

This week we were able to add some more multiplayer functionality. The ability to invite your friends directly into the game is now possible!

Core Engine:
  • NEW: Added 2D Lighting to the game
  • NEW: Added bullet pooling to help performance with large rates of fire


Apocalypse Mode

    NEW: Zombies Glow
    NEW: Added Endless Mode
    NEW: Increased MiniBoss spawn count
    NEW: Score screen pauses so you can check out stats
    FIX: Updated some stats that weren't tracking correctly
    FIX: Consolidated Hud and Game timer to single timer to avoid drift

Blam! Blam! Weekly Update 1 | New Game Mode

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the start of our first or many updates.

This week week we were able to add a new game mode: Free For All (FFA)! You can now duke it out with up to 8 people in a single lobby in an every soldier for themselves game mode.

Notable Improvements:


Multiplayer:
  • NEW: Free For All (FFA) Game Mode
    • Uses same maps as Team Death Match with different spawn points
    • 1st to 25 kills wins
    • Fix: Gun color shows correctly on spawn
    • Fix: Scoreboard respawn and kills update when open


Apocalypse Mode:
  • Zombie Steam Leaderboard - Compete with your friends on number of Z-kills!
  • Refactored upgrade window to allow more room
  • TAB shows game stats and Upgrades
  • Initial tuning for Upgrades
  • MINI BOSS - Added Breath weapon attack
Zombie Logic:
  • Updated logic to use state machines
  • Refactored logic to prevent "stuck zombies"
