Once again, a big thank you to all of those who participated in the streamβs Q&A session. Below are some of the most notable questions and our responses:
β: What is the maximum number of players who can fight together in World Boss battles?
π¬: For world bosses, the party size is 8 players. The Altar of Memories can be played with a party of 4.
β: Will you be able to address the concerns regarding the 4-man dungeon requirement? As time goes on, this will only lead to longer queue times and make older dungeons even harder to complete, as no one will want to do them again.
π¬: Definitely! This is something that we've addressed internally. We'll be making it so players can enter dungeons in a party of 1~3 as well. I can't speak with full authority on this, but judging by what other games have done in the past, I assume that dungeon requirements will be adjusted before this kind of thing becomes an issue - we don't want to lock any players out of any content they'd like to enjoy.
β: Is there multiplayer in the main story of the game? Specifically, can we explore the world together?
π¬: The game's main story can be enjoyed in single-player, but there are multi-player areas throughout the world, most notably the major castles such as Winterfell.
β: Will PC players have more graphic options, such as anti-aliasing and other settings?
π¬: Yes! We want to make sure players will have the best possible experience on their platform of choice, so the PC version will have all of the graphic options you've come to expect.
β: In the official game, will we have full access to the map from the start, allowing us to explore Westeros freely?
π¬: The map will open up as you explore the lands of Westeros, it won't be fully opened right from the start. After having discovered an area, you will be able to fast-travel to it at any time for convenience.
β: We have World Bosses and dungeons now. Do you have any information about additional co-op activities?
π¬: Of course! We have multiple other endgame challenges waiting for our players. Both Co-Op and Single Player.
β: Do we have an estimated release time for the game? Will it launch as early access, or will it be released as a full product with ongoing updates?
π¬: The game is scheduled for release this year. I can't be more specific than that right now, but if you wishlist the game you'll get notified automatically when the time comes, and our twitter and discord channels will be putting out the news as well!
β: Do you have plans for something like a multiplayer farming zone? Perhaps outside the Wall, where players can team up to fight White Walkers for farming purposes?
π¬: π
β: As the Narrative Lead, did you have any direct contact with George R.R. Martin?
π¬: Unfortunately, George is a very busy man and difficult to get hold of. We were lucky enough to be able to ask him a few specific questions through our partners at Warner Brothers, and are getting a lot of support from the experts on their end as well.
β: Will Kennet return as a White Walker miniboss? It would be awesome if we encounter him first when we cross the Wall later.
π¬: I won't spoil too much, but this is indeed not the last we've seen of Kennet.
β: Will the Rankings system reset every week, or if you achieve your best score once, can it remain on the list forever, allowing you to claim rewards continuously?
π¬: For example, Altar of Memories rankings will have a weekly reset allowing people to compete for better time each week!
β: The first thing I tried to do, even before any other mission, was head to Kingβs Landing, but sadly I couldnβt. Canβt wait to be able to do that in the official game!
π¬: Right! The demo is restricted in its scope, but you will be able to visit many more locations in the full release later this year.
β: Will we be able to participate in main story battles or wars, like the Battle of the Bastards? That would be amazing!
π¬: Kingsroad takes place near the end of Season 4 of the show, so the events of the show play a role in the story of our protagonist as well. Again, I don't want to spoil anything, but one of our goals was to use the events of the show as a starting point for each region and expand on them.
β: Is the game based on the show or the books?
π¬: The game is based on the show, but since the show is based on the books, we are also taking inspiration from situations described there - but only in so far as they feel fitting for the world as established in the show.
β: Is there a content creator program for this game that I can join?
π¬: Content creators are highly valuable to us. Be on the lookout!
β: I truly hope we get those RPG choices.
π¬: I'm a huge cRPG fan, so I share your interest in choice and consequence. As you saw just now in the video, we have a dialogue system similar to that of recent ARPGs, and it will be possible to establish your character's attitude through those.
β: Will there be companions who travel and fight alongside you?
π¬: Yes! As you saw just now in the prologue with Kennet and Jon, the PC will be joined by allied NPCs from time to time in both the main quest and subquests.
β: Will I be able to romance Cersei or Jon Snow?
π¬: You asked a very important question, to which I unfortunately have to answer - only in the private build I have on my PC at the office.
β: From a narrative standpoint, since we have options, will these choices affect the story in the game, such as in cut-scenes or other ways?
π¬: As mentioned above, we do have a dialogue system and the choices you make can indeed impact the way the story unfolds. This is especially pronounced in subquests, since those are more manageable in their scope.
β: Will there be more exotic mounts, such as dragons, spiders, or griffins?
π¬: I want to answer that, but I can't... yet π
β: Will there be more variety in weapon designs between sets? In the beta, they all looked quite similar.
π¬: Weapons will have different models as tiers change!
β: I have concerns about the P2W aspects of the game.
π¬: Regarding 'P2W' in general - As the narrative guy, I haven't had much to do with the business model for the game, but I do know that we are actively avoiding P2W - everyone will be able to enjoy the game to the fullest without being forced to make purchases.
β: Iβve probably spent over 60 hours between the closed beta and the demo, and Iβve really enjoyed the game. Each of the three classes is fun to play in its own way. Are there any plans to add additional class types in the future?
π¬: Wow, you've played a lot! I'm so glad to hear you've enjoyed the demo because, if I may say so myself, the story actually gets much better in the later chapters so I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more! I can't say anything about additional classes at the moment, unfortunately.
β: Will there be a PvP arena or any other types of PvP content in the game?
π¬: PVP isn't in the scope of our current spec, but we're experimenting with various ideas to see what would make the most enjoyable experience to the players.
β: I can't wait to see which iconic characters will make an appearance!
π¬: Regarding show characters - Since the demo only takes place in the North, we haven't been able to show off many of the ones you'll be able to interact with in the game yet, but rest assured most fan-favorite characters will make an appearance and you'll even be able to fight (alongside) some.
