Lots happening in the Dream Team Supreme side of the world. In April, the team showcased the game at Armageddon Wellington. Thank you so much to every player who gave the game a spin! The event was a hectic blast haha; over 70 players gave it a try and filled in our survey. The showcase was during Easter weekend and we all took a week off to recover after that. When we came back, we jumped straight into addressing the feedback. Here are some of the things you liked the most about Dream Team Supreme:

  • "I liked the co-op aspect and the somewhat complex card system"
  • "I like the strategy element, finding the optimal synergy between the deck and how you attack and defend"
  • "I liked how somethings came at a cost but gave back good abilities"
  • "I loved the unique abilities of each boss"
  • "I liked the artstyle and the variety of cards and upgrades. I'd like to play it again"

That was great to hear. We love these too and will keep making them better. Here's where players want the see the most improvements:

Communication on where buffs and debuffs are being applied, and general feedback to the player on how a round will play once you lock in
I sometimes was unsure about what the different abilities were/what the cards did
UI felt clunky sometimes, probably needs some animations
It feels a little slow

We feel that too. Even though we see the game everyday, we also realize that we're doing the math in our heads when we play. That's a lot to think about. We've addressed the first three points for the next build and would love to learn from you if it still feels slow, now that giants are moving and all the actions are called out when they happen in a much more direct way.

We think the itch.io demo is a good proof of concept on the mechanics of the game. There's still a ton of work to do and we're excited to do it. However, the biggest missing piece now is a larger audience to validate that the world is as hungry for Dream Team Supreme as we are eager to make it awesome.

For the next phase of development, we need 3 things:
  • more playthroughs
  • more playthroughs per player
  • more co-op playthroughs

To get there, we've decided to concentrate the next run of updates into playtests. This will help us achieve a few things. Firstly, everyone playing at the same time gives us a bunch of feedback in one shot and time to act on it before the next test. Secondly, players talking to each other about their experiences brings up deep issues and opportunities to make fun things even "funner".

If you're interested in joining the first playtest in June, just go to http://wwww.bigadventure.games/ and sign up for the playtest. If you've got a friend you'd like to play with, send them to the same link to sign up. Easy haha.

Our biggest update

Demo Newsletter Discord

We're not kidding with that title either, we've added FIVE TIMES as much content in 0.8 compared to the amount we added in 0.7.

Here are the headlines:

5 new monsters for Super Supreme to go up against
13 new cartridges for you to add to your build
6 new mods to tip battles in Super Supreme's favor
4 new effects, one of which could make or break your next playthrough
4 new events, doubling the total that can show up each run.
and last but not least, 4 new music tracks to get you in the zone as you check out the update

Enough talking about it! We understand if you want to dig in and play right now, so here's a convenient download link to take you straight to the update.

So why so much content for this update?

The answer is simple... Because we need it.
We want Dream Team Supreme to be an engaging and replayable experience. In order to achieve that we need you to have access to a whole suite of strategic options in your playthroughs.

To do that, we added more cartridges to find in your playthroughs...
To support those cartridges, we added new status effects...
To support those status effects, we added new locations and mods...
and to test your skills with these new options, we added new monsters.

Well. What are the highlights of all this content?
'Burning' is a new effect you can find on mods, cartridges and some enemy move sets. This offers you a new way to take down monsters... but careful you don't overheat.

There are new monsters that aim to counter scientists whose strategy relies on conserving momentum for a single powerful blow.

And we added some new locations to introduce some more nuanced risk vs reward into your deckbuilding strategy.

This isn't all we've been working on either!

We've still been hard at work getting touch screen and controller support ready for you. We've got all the structure in place, so hopefully it won't be long before you can try one of our updates with your favourite controller in your hand.

We're really excited about this new update and we hope you enjoy it!

Stay sharp scientists,

In this update, we’ve added Maelstrom – a swirling vortex of destruction that destroys anything in its path! Will you get sucked into the vortex, or will you change the forecast? Test your skills against this new giant monster and its Chaos Effect and see if you’ve got what it takes to stop it in its tracks!

We've also added a new biome to explore, the tranquil hillside cliffs! It's up to Dream Team Supreme to stop the Giant monsters from ruining the serenity.

The team are hard at work building more content and quality of life improvements.

We're working on touch screen and controller support, so that it's easier for us to improve the UI in the coming months while keeping all input options open. It will take a few updates before those changes come through
Our next build will have a bunch of new Giant Monsters, Cartridges, Mods and Rewards

That's all for now, we hope you have a blast with this new update!

Peak has arrived! (initial post 2025-02-13)

Demo Newsletter Discord

We're back with another update for Dream Team Supreme, version 0.6!

In this new update, we’ve added Peak – a truly MASSIVE mountain! Will this mountain stop you in your tracks, or will you make it crumble? Test your skills against this new challenge and see if you’ve got what it takes to save the day!

We've also added a new biome to explore, the frozen lands! Brave this landscape to rid the world of monsters!

Another bit of news is we will start rolling out some onboarding newsletters for new subscribers! Even though you're already subscribed, you'll be getting these too, just a bit quicker than others - we still want to give you all the freebies and info!

Finally, there's a couple of small quality of life improvements we made.

  • You can swap out cartridges in slots directly by just dragging a new cartridge on top, to let you reorganize your turns more smoothly.
  • Tooltips only show up after hovering for a short amount of time instead of instantly.
  • Solo runs no longer show the tutorial after your first time completing it, and you'll gain a mod to take out Sir Render in one hit!
  • Added some buttons for scrolling the map, in case you don't want to use the scroll wheel.
  • Added a button to copy the game code while hosting, as well as one to paste it when joining!

That's all for now, we hope you have a blast with this new update!

Stay sharp scientists,

Sami from Big Adventure
