Calyx Development Update – March 2025

Greetings Calyx players!

We’re delighted to say that more than 35,000 of you have now added the Calyx Demo to your library, since we first launched it for Steam’s RTS Fest on January 20th.

Thanks for all your detailed suggestions and feedback. We spent time reading and digesting your contributions, and combining them with our own.

It’s now time to give you a quick update on what we’re planning next.

It’s our intention to share a bigger slice of the game with you, and we’re aiming for around the middle of 2025 for the demo update.
Here’s some of the stuff we’re working on…
• Updated targeting system for player units
 • New types of Calyx plant
 • New units (including plant units that make defenses far more important)
 • A new resource
 • A new mining system based on harvesters (no more trying to place mines to clear up every last scrap of ore)
 • Existing modules and buildings in the world - connect to these for boosts
 • More maps
 • Lots of QOL features including more options and keyboard shortcuts
 • Many smaller improvements

We hope that gives you a good idea of where Calyx is going next.

We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who’s played, reviewed and wishlisted so far. We’re stoked so many of you see potential in the project!

Stay tuned for another update soon.

Cheers!

Huge thanks to everyone who played the Calyx Demo during RTS Fest!

Big thanks from the Studio 568 team!

We're thrilled that so many of you played Calyx over the RTS Fest period, left reviews and gave us feedback in the Discussion Forum.

It's exciting that so many of you see potential in the Demo, and it's great to receive so much well considered feedback.

We're now working through that feedback, pulling out the common themes, and using them as part of our decision making for the next phase of the project.

If you want to keep up with our progress, please add Calyx to your wishlist!

Cheers,

John, Mark and Phil ːsteamhappyː
