From the list of questions, we briefly selected two and have already answered them.

How much freedom do you have in urban design? For example, can you create your own road networks, or are there fixed building sites?

You can freely decide where to place your buildings. However, it makes sense to consider where it should be placed for synergies. A general store far away from the town center will not be effective, because then the citizens would have to travel long distances to buy goods. You can, of course, connect buildings with roads to speed up transportation. Some buildings require a certain area, for example, a hunting lodge must be built near an area where there is enough game.

How important is the railway in the game? Can you lay your own tracks or are they generated automatically?

The railway becomes important in the late gameplay as you can connect far away outposts by rails. We are working on a road/rail system that might allow you to lay your own tracks and roads, but it is work in progress and not yet set in stone.
