Hallowed Nights and Wurt available October 24th! (And more!)


Hey everybody,

Hallowed Nights will return October 24th! For the most part, Hallowed Nights will remain the same as last year but we threw in a couple new tricks and treats for you. The team is really focused on Return of Them content right now, and will be taking a short break from RoT after the next release as we prepare for Winter's Feast!

Next Thursday will also see the introduction of a brand new character DLC. Wurt is a curious young Merm trying to expand her horizons… as long as those horizons don’t extend into Pig territory.

  • Wurt can spot where danger is hiding in the swamp
  • Wurt can craft the Royal Tapestry and make a home for the Merm King and his Guards:
    • The Royal Tapestry requires materials from all over The Constant
    • The Merm King provides all Merms extra strength to fight
    • Wurt must feed the Merm King to prevent him from starving
  • Wurt can craft Merm Houses and Merm Flort-ifications
  • She moves faster while on the swamp and can craft tiles to expand her turf
  • Wurt is a vegetarian with a particular appreciation for Durians
  • Wurt can craft a Clever Disguise to get other survivors to blend in with her swamp friends
  • Likes to keep Pet Fish in her inventory
  • Strongly dislikes Pigs
  • Being wet does not affect her strong grip

Wurt will be unlocked in the following ways:
  • Wurt will be available for purchase for $5.99, in the Wurt Chest. Wurt’s Guest of Honor skin set is included in this chest for free.
  • The Wurt Deluxe Chest is $9.99 and includes the Guest of Honor, Triumphant and Abyssal skin sets.
  • Wurt is part of the new "Starter Pack" that can now be purchased with a New Megapack Bundle. Current Megapack Bundle owners will be able to upgrade for $6.99. The starter pack includes Wurt, 4 Classic Characters Skins, a new spear skin, hound backpack and Green Pajamas and Bedroll.
  • You can weave Wurt for 2700 spool.

We also have some new skins that have been added to the Hallowed Nights collection and we will also be increasing the drop rarity for skins during Hallowed Nights.

Finally, we will be adding a Loyal login bonus item for all players during the event as well as new Twitch drops! We expect this release to hit on the 24th for both PC and console.

The next Return of Them beta update "Hook, Line and Inker" should release early November. But as always, that is an estimate and things could change, expect more details about a week before release.

Of course, we will also have a new spooky edition animated short for you all, and I think the team really outdid themselves on this one. We can't wait for you all to check it out.

Salty Dog:

Welcome to the brine shoals. Filled with the new salt rock resource, survivors looking to stretch the life of their food with this new spice will need to brave the dreaded Cookie Cutters. And watch out for the Malbatross. Getting on it's bad side will be a weight around anyone's neck.

Facing these new dangers and coming home with the goods will make you a real salty dog!

Available now on Steam and Consoles.

  • Werebeaver can no longer extend the walking plank (This was originally added because the old style Werebeaver could easily get stuck on a boat)

Here we are again with our next character update! We have a bunch of to share, from Woodies’s character refresh, his new skin sets, new twitch drops, Salty Dog comes to beta and a big console update!

Every character has their story, and with each refresh, secrets will be revealed. See what new surprises Woodie has to share with you here.

With the effects of the moon stronger than ever, Woodie has finally embraced his wild side. Armed with two new were-forms and a (knick-)knack for controlling his strange curse, he's ready to face anything the Constant can throw at him.

Woodie Character Refresh
  • In addition to Werebeaver, Woodie now has two new transformations that specialize in different things, such as combat and locomotion.
  • A random transformation can be triggered by repeatedly consuming Monster Meat (or prepared dishes like Monster Lasagna).
  • A specific transformation can be triggered by consuming one of the three new craftable idols made with Monster Meat.
  • The Log Meter has been replaced with a Were-Meter that appears only during Woodie’s were-forms.
  • The Were-Meter drains constantly, and Woodie reverts to Human form once it runs out.
  • Performing specific actions will extend Woodie’s time in each were-form.
  • During fullmoon, Woodie is forced into a random transformation (once per fullmoon), and the Were-Meter drains at half the speed.
  • Reduced Woodie’s sanity drain while in were-form.
  • Woodie no longer gains sanity when planting trees.
  • Woodie no longer needs to eat wood.
  • Woodie has a 50% higher chance to spawn Treeguards and Poison Birchnut Trees.
  • Werebeaver no longer spawns Treeguards and Poison Birchnut Trees
  • Like the Werebeaver, all new were-forms gain night vision and some weather resistance.
  • Woodie can now view the Map while transformed.

We have also added 2 new skin packs for purchase. The Woodie Deluxe Wardrobe contains 5 skins, Woodies Team Player, Guest of Honor, Roseate, Triumphant and Survivor skin sets for $14.49cad ($12.99usd). We have also added the Canadiana Chest which includes the Hockey Helmet, Hockey Stick and Rustic Cabin skins for $4.65cad ($3.99usd).

Console Update:

  • Fixed crash when Woodie transforms while mounted.
  • Fixed bug with Jellybean buff multiplying whenever Woodie transforms.
  • Fixed bug with Garlic Spiced food buff calculations in Weremoose form.
  • Fixed animation bugs with Rustic Cabin skin for Pig Houses.
HOTFIX - 367948
  • Weregoose can now walk on water. (Be warned that Woodie will drown immediately if he reverts to human form over water).
  • Minor increase to Werebeaver’s digging and mining strength.
  • Increased Weremoose’s damage reduction to 90%.
  • All of Woodie’s were-forms can now last up to half a day.
  • Increased the grace period between actions before Were-meter starts speeding up.
  • Reduced food stat penalties for Woodie’s consumable Idols (now equivalent to eating a single Monster Meat).
  • Further reduced sanity drain while in were-form.
  • Fixed Woodie’s missing mullet when chopping.
HOTFIX - 368667
  • New global audio-mix changes. "everything turned down" to allow for more headroom for louder scenarios.
  • HUD sounds like click turned down during the menus.

Return of Them: Salty Dog

In addition to Woodie's refresh coming into the main game, the next part of our Return of Them content update will be coming to the beta branch (with Woodie playable there as well) on September 12th. We will have more details about it next Thursday, but in this update you will see a new boss, new items, a new creature and a new crafting resource.

Console Update:

We have everything ready and we're preparing for console players to receive Woodie next week, but in addition you will also be getting Return of Them: Turn of Tides content as well! This has not gone all the way through certification yet, so it's possible it could be off a day or two, but at this time we don't expect any delays.

As always with Console, this isn't entirely up to us, so we may get a delay of a day or two while we work through certification, but as of right now we expect this to release next week as well.
