Work on the game - May

Welcome!

In less than a week, you'll be able to play the game demo. For us, that means less and less time to show you the most important things we’ve managed to accomplish. We've prepared a lot for the demo—but more on that at the very end.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3266090/IT_Specialist_Simulator/

New logo

We’d also like to inform you that we’ve finally chosen the new game logo. We hope you’ll like it too.

RACK Cabinets

A few things have changed. Most notably, the design of the buttons—also RJ45 ports have a new look. We think it looks much better now! In addition, as you can see, the number of patch panels has increased. Every connection—regardless of whether the addressing is correct or not—is now shown on the switch, indicating whether a device is connected. From now on, if you make a mistake configuring ports on the router, a physical factory reset will restore the base configuration.

RCP

We’ve been working on finalizing RCP. We’ve added numerous settings, including network addressing configuration. We also fixed a few bugs related to RCP and more. The demo doesn’t feature any RCP tasks—we didn’t add enough functionality yet to make it worthwhile. We’ve added brightness adjustment and an eye protection option that gives the screen a yellow tint.

Tablet

We’ve added some improvements to the tablet, including changes to the app layout and main view. The tablet now responds to the distance from Access Points—if you’re too far, apps will take longer to load and will have delayed responses.

File downloads

We improved the file download system and added a new file type—.pdf. Most downloadable files will be available in the in-game Wiki.

PDF Reader

We’ve added an app for opening PDF documents. Its main purpose is to preview repair or installation procedures based on standards. You’ll find a few procedures in the demo. Most of them will be available in the Wiki, which is accessible only via VPN.

Mail

We improved the way messages are displayed in Mail. From now on, each task must be read in the Mail app first. We also added a new feature: attachments. There are two types of attachments—links and PDF files.

Permissions

We added file access permissions—if a user doesn’t have access, they simply won’t be able to open the file. In Early Access, this will be expanded—changing user permissions will require administrator login or terminal use.

New errors

We’ve added several new errors related to permissions and applications. For example, if an app is missing files, it won’t launch and a message will appear. We also added a message for no network connection on the login screen.

Administrator account

We’re actively working on implementing the administrator account, which will allow us to restrict functions for regular users—for example, disabling access to the Control Panel. Unfortunately, the administrator account won’t be ready for the demo.

P-Mail

We’ve added a new email app—this one is for employees only and will be available for download in the app store.

VirusPlus

We’ve finished implementing PC scanning and virus detection. You can also activate the Pro version by entering a license key purchased from the developer’s website. All activation codes can be viewed in the tablet app.

AppStore

We improved app downloads and added a few new apps—some of which will be available in the demo. We also fixed important bugs related to browsing and downloading. You can now also create app shortcuts on the desktop.

Missing app?

From now on, if an app is missing from the system, its related files will show a generic icon. You can then either open the file in Notepad or search for the app in the store.

New tasks and fixes

We’ve added several new tasks to expand the demo gameplay. Most of them are related to networking. Older tasks were also revised. Every task is adjusted to the difficulty level selected by the player at the beginning. On easy and hard modes, task hints are available.

Map

The map has also been slightly updated. We’ve added the ability to check tasks from each device and introduced “ghost mode,” allowing free map navigation.

System installation

We fixed some bugs. From now on, after installation, the system will automatically log in and display familiar messages during the first boot.

Greyed-out buttons

We’ve unlocked a few buttons visible in settings, Control Panel, etc. We want to show that these features aren’t finished yet, but highlight what’s coming in Early Access.

Game optimization

Throughout the development process, we’ve faced lighting challenges. Ultimately, we decided to use baked lighting across maps, which significantly improved both quality and performance. Thanks to our publisher FreeMind and the team behind Aquarist, we achieved highly satisfying visual results.
We also implemented realistic reflections in every window, further increasing immersion. Most importantly, we optimized the game to the point where frame rates increased from 50 to 230 FPS on ultra settings. We can confidently say: there should be no performance issues in the demo.

Work on the game - April

Hey! What's up with you?

The demo is getting closer, so we want to show you what we've been working on for the past month. It was quite a difficult month for us in many ways. However, we still have mid-April and May ahead of us. Well, exactly...

Game Demo

In the demo of our game, we want to show you what the game will look like with EarlyAccess. How functions, programs, etc. will work more or less. Many things will not be in the game yet or we will simply block them due to not completing them in their entirety. What is important to us in this demo? First of all, feedback, but not in the form of "the game is ok", but specifically what needs to be changed and why or what is cool. Remember, we are also gamers and we also like to play good games, so we want to make one like that too. That is, a game that you can sit down and play calmly, learn something. There is a high probability that we will not complete the ForumHelp for the demo, so we will leave all the solutions to the tasks in the Guides section.

Okay, but what has changed in the game?

Intro - Tutorial

Exactly, let's start with the tutorial because why not. From now on, when creating a new world, we will get a short tutorial and a short story. The story of finding a job....

In the tutorial, we will learn a few key mechanics for the game. The standard is walking, looking around and crouching. However, we will also show you a few other interesting options and if you have never changed the network address on your computer, this will be your first time!

A computer with three monitors

We managed to create the first computer that works almost perfectly with three monitors. We can flip application windows between monitors without any major problems. Now we will also work on two screens that are different sizes. Specifically, we want the effect of a laptop and an additional monitor.

Websites

We have introduced several new pages. Each one serves a different purpose.
PixelTeamRed
Of course, this page was already in the game under the link https://pixelteamred.com/ but we have added 3 more subpages.
 • Software - the page that will interest you the most because of the files that can be downloaded from it. It will mainly be an iso file with the OScypek system for system installation.
 • About - here you can find a very short history about us
 • Games - and here we have added a preliminary view of our old games. This view will probably be changed.
Wiki - Storage - knowledge base
Many companies have their own wikis, where you can find procedures, some appropriate answers to questions, links to other external sites, etc. We also wanted to add something similar to this. So we present you Wiki - Storage. The portal is accessible by using Fasko OneConnect (VPN), otherwise Error 404 will pop up. On the portal you will be able to find information about the addressing standard in the company, other branches of the company (in what city they are and not only), there is also information about us - i.e. about the creators, but more detailed, who and for what was responsible during the creation of the game. And the main tab will be procedures. Procedures will refer, for example, to the configuration of the router, due to the specificity of this particular model that we have chosen - there is no information about the configuration of such equipment in the network.
VirusPlus
VirusPlus antivirus website, which will help us get rid of malware and more. On the website, you will be able to basically only buy a new license. In several different variants, we are considering entering all data such as company name, NIP, etc. - but only for players who choose the difficulty level - hard.

VirusPlus - application

As I mentioned the antivirus page, it is worth mentioning the antivirus itself. The antivirus will have several significant tasks to perform. Including story tasks, which we do not want to write about at the moment. Currently, we can only enter the activation code for the PRO version.

Application Store

As the name suggests, we will be able to download applications, some applications will be important like the previously mentioned VirusPlus and less important like mini-games. In each application/game, you will find information about it, reviews, application size, publisher and release date of this application or game.

Mail

We've refreshed Mail a bit. We've added settings and the ability to change the background. Some of them really blend in well. We've fixed a bug with the time not being displayed next to emails and we've added some cool story emails.

Shadows

On many devices, we have added shadows to graphics to improve the display of elements.

New loading screen

We have slightly changed the loading screen, from now on it will always show a curiosity or information useful in the game.
A few notes
Remember that we are not the creators of this game 24/7. Each of us has a different job and the game is created solely as a hobby. We try to make the game really high-quality and a really good example in schools or universities.
