Fallen Fates devlog #1 - July 2025
[p]Hey everyone, and welcome to the first Fallen Fates devlog![/p][p]We don’t know at which frequency we will make those ones but in any case we aim to share you more about the game we are making as we loved the relationship we had with the community on Astral Ascent and we wish to have the same relationship with you on this new project![/p][p]Don’t hesitate to follow us on X and Bluesky, as we will share a lot there too![/p][p]
[/p][p]In this devlog you’ll find a mix of what has been happening this month on Fallen Fates:[/p]
[/p]
Kickstarter campaign will land on September
[p]If you followed our journey on Astral Ascent (and maybe Dark Devotion too), you know that Kickstarter is something we love at the studio.[/p][p]Not only for the financial aid it can provide to indie studios, but also for the link it creates with the community. Having people super invested in the game you’re working on with your heart is extremely powerful and motivating.[/p][p]We saw it on Astral Ascent, the continuous support from the community helped a lot to bring the game on another level. It’s something we want to keep during the development of Fallen Fates.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Along with the production of Fallen Fates, the team is also getting ready for the Kickstarter launch. We prepared many surprises for you along with a lot of goodies for backers! If you want to help the campaign, you can follow the pre-launch page on Kickstarter: [/p][p]https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hibernian-workshop/fallen-fates[/p][p] [/p][p][/p]
Next Trailer
[p]Back at the end of May, we shared the announcement trailer for Fallen Fates during the AG French Direct event. It was very well received, bringing Fallen Fates to 15,000 wishlists in just two months, thank you so much![/p][p]To showcase more of the game and the direction we're aiming for, we're currently working on another trailer. It will feature more in-game content, along with a brand-new cinematic. [/p][p]For the latter, we collaborated with Sapin Sympa (a French animation collective) to create the cinematic in a traditional animated style. For the occasion, Sapin Sympa brought together a team of animators who have worked on many film and commercial projects, including for clients such as Riot, Blizzard, Disney, and many others. The collaboration went very well and the result is amazing! We can’t wait to share you the whole trailer.[/p][p][/p][p]We wanted to share 2 sneak peeks of the trailer with you:[/p][p]
[/p][p]As you already saw on the trailer, our main character Arven is not alone in his journey. He is always accompanied by Kat, a powerful creature. Who is she? What are her powers? How did she end up accompanying Arven? You’ll learn more in the next trailer and during the Kickstarter.[/p][p]
In-game content progress | WIP[/p][p][/p][p]In addition to the animated cinematic, we are also going to reveal more in-game content. What we shared so far was during dawn, but you’ll also be able to explore Tellus during the day.
What is Arven doing in this scene? You’ll discover it in the trailer too![/p][p][/p]
Concept arts of monsters
[p]Fallen Fates is a 2D action-RPG, so monsters will play a major role in the game. As your journey takes you across the vast world of Tellus, you’ll encounter many powerful and unique enemies of various types.[/p][p]The main threat is known as the “Shadows”. Emerging from the falling crystals, they often appear to be part of their surroundings, as if they’ve adapted to their environment in order to survive. As crystals have been falling for over a thousand years now, we are not talking about a few monsters but a real colony…[/p][p][/p][p]Here are some researches we’ve done on Shadows recently:[/p][p]
[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]And that’s all for this first devlog ✨[/p][p]Don’t hesitate to tell us in the comments what kind of subjects you would like us to talk about.
You can also join the community on Discord to talk about the game.[/p][p]Again, thank you for your support![/p][p]Cheers[/p][p][/p][p]- The Hibernian Workshop team.[/p][p]
