[p]
Greetings, Agents![/p][p]First of all, we would like to sincerely thank you for your deep interest and for sharing such insightful questions regarding our character descriptions.[/p][p]Before we dive into our philosophy, we’d like to share a small bit of our reality with you.
Team MoonSun is a small indie team, and every one of our members is currently working other day jobs to make a living. Because we are balancing our passion for
Eclipse with our daily livelihoods, we may not be able to reply to every comment or provide answers as quickly as we would like.[/p][p]We kindly ask for your
generous understanding of our situation. Please know that we are doing our absolute best within our capacity to make
Eclipse the best experience it can be. We are always deeply grateful for your patience and support.[/p]
🌟
Our Localization Philosophy
[p]In
Eclipse, we have meticulously built a world centered on the autonomy and strength of women. To remain true to this vision, we believe our localization must go beyond simple translation—it must challenge the historical prejudices embedded in the very characters (Hanzi) we use.[/p][p]We have tried to avoid certain traditional Hanzi that carry roots of misogyny or female suppression. We want the names of our characters to reflect their true power.[/p][p]To be honest, we are a small indie team, not professional linguists. While we are doing our absolute best to find alternatives that align with our philosophy, if we ultimately cannot find a suitable substitute, we will use conventional characters.[/p][p]However, we firmly believe that the core message of Eclipse—the autonomy and strength of women in The Land of Solar—is carried by our characters' lives, their choices, and the journey they take. A single character cannot diminish the spirit of the story we have built. We hope you see our search for new names as a sincere effort to honor our characters, but the true heart of Eclipse will always remain in the narrative itself.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

🚫 Why we are excluding certain characters:
- [p]❌ The character 安 (An - Peace/Stability)[/p]
- [p]Etymology: Composed of 宀 (roof) + 女 (woman).[/p]
- [p]Historical Nuance: Traditionally implies that "stability" or "peace" is only achieved when a woman is "kept inside the house."[/p]
- [p]Our Stance: In our world, women are not defined by confinement or domesticity. Peace is a state of freedom and sovereignty, not a result of being "hidden away."[/p]
- [p]❌ The character 威 (Wei - Authority/Majesty)[/p]
- [p]Etymology: Composed of 戌 (weapon) + 女 (woman).[/p]
- [p]Historical Nuance: Derived from the concept of "imposing authority by threatening a woman with a weapon."[/p]
- [p]Our Stance: We refuse to use a character where the very origin of "majesty" is rooted in the oppression or intimidation of women. [/p]
- [p]❌ The character 娜 (Na – Graceful Femininity)[/p]
- [p]Etymology: Composed of 女 (woman) + 那 (phonetic component).[/p]
- [p]Historical Nuance: Traditionally emphasizes ideals of female beauty, softness, and gentleness. [/p]
- [p]Our Stance: In our world, women are not only aesthetic ideals shaped by softness, but also autonomous individuals defined by will, strength, and self-determination.[/p]
- [p]❌ The character 娅 (Ya – Secondary or Relational Woman)[/p]
- [p]Etymology: Composed of 女 (woman) + 亚 / 亞 (secondary, adjacent).[/p]
- [p]Historical Nuance: Traditionally used to define a woman only through relational roles, such as a woman connected to another through marriage. [/p]
- [p]Our Stance: We reject characters that frame women as “secondary beings” whose identity exists only in relation to others. [/p]
