Early Access Release Date Announcement

I come bearing some big news. I’m super excited to announce that PACK :: Post Apocalyptic Cleaning Kit will be releasing into Early Access on December 9, 2025! That’s right, that’s in just one week from today.

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]The game will include six playable environments for the low price of $9.99 USD. I have significantly more content planned for release over the course of 2026. It’s a great time to grab a copy—and maybe a few extras—so you can play with a friend, two, or even three! [p]Howdy Folks![/p][p] [/p][p]It’s great to see the interest growing for my game. Wishlists keep climbing and I’m here to talk more about what’s coming in the early access release of the game.[/p][p] [/p][h2]Cleaning Radar[/h2][p]I think we’ve all been in this scenario: You spend a bunch of time cleaning an environment and then it feels like it takes twice as long to find those last few remaining spots to clean. To help make that process a bit more fun I’ve added a new cleaning radar.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
In the game currently you can press a button which will highlight cleanable objects in the area for a few seconds. This is helpful, but I took it one step further. Firstly the cleanable highlight no longer turns itself off after a few seconds and is just toggled on or off with a key press. When toggled on the icon at the lower right will flash and beep, its speed getting faster the closer you are to a cleanable object. This helps track down those hard to find cleaning spots that are keeping you from your cleaning goals.[/p][h2][/h2][h2]Rotating Objects[/h2][p]While there isn’t a specific directive to tidy up, I can certainly relate to the desire to straighten chairs and align objects together that aren’t required for recycling. I’ve added the ability to rotate objects that are currently being held. While holding an object, simply hold the throw button and move the mouse or the thumbstick on a controller.[/p][p][/p][h2]Looking For Beta Testers[/h2][p]As the game is nearing an early access release there is some additional testing that needs to be done. I’m currently looking for people who are interested in helping to track down issues and provide valuable feedback. [p]Howdy Folks![/p][p][/p][p]As you may, or may not, know I’m also the solo developer of Mercury Fallen. Mercury Fallen is a sci-fi colony management game, which is quite a bit different from PACK. I’ve had a few people ask me why I’m working on PACK, which is such a different kind of game, so I thought I would provide an answer for anyone curious. [/p][p][/p][p]I began development of Mercury Fallen in late 2016 and it was released into early access in late 2017. In late 2023, after many many updates, the game was released out of early access. The development of Mercury Fallen took a long time, but as a solo developer I’m proud of what I created. I learned a lot about game development, but also a lot about project management.  [/p][p][/p][p]Two major things I learned are scope and scale. I had a general goal in mind when I began developing Mercury Fallen, but the scope wasn’t entirely clear which led to some longer development times and uncertainties along the way. The game also changed course based on player feedback, which was expected and great to have community involvement. Mercury Fallen became bigger and took longer than expected. There were many times where it was hard to know what “finished” meant for Mercury Fallen as new features could have continued to be piled on indefinitely. On a personal level I wanted to complete Mercury Fallen and work on something different, something with a smaller scope and scale. [/p][p][/p][p]PACK was better planned out from the beginning to have a more clear scope and a smaller scale. As the game is broken into separate levels I was able to pre-determine the amount of content I wanted to deliver. Even before I started serious development, I already had a sense of what “finished” meant. I know the general scale of the game and, for the most part, what it will take to complete.  [/p][p][/p][p]So basically I’m working on PACK because it’s another genre of game that I personally enjoy and a project with more clearly defined goals.
