  • Guild leaders can now change the guild background to any unlocked background image
  • New background images are unlocked as your guild gains trophies

  • Once the highest priority tasks are completed, the next task(s) will gain the indicator
  • Tasks can share priorities, meaning that 2 or more tasks will gain the indicator on the task screen, and won’t move on to the next priorities until both are completed

  • Any guild member who is marked as inactive can be kicked from the Guild, this includes inactive Guild Leaders
  • If a player is not Rank 1 or 2 in their guild, the Guild Leave Button will be displayed in the Guild Pop Up (the menu where the guild events are accessed from), instead of the Guild Admin button
  • If a player decides to leave a guild, there is a 2-day cooldown for re-joining that guild

  • Players can now view more stats on Hero profile including Underworld Progress
  • The pop up will display the player’s home kingdom background and particle effects related to that kingdom

New Status Effects
  • BLESS: This is a positive status effect that grants a temporary Impervious effect, and cancels out the Cursed effect (see below). Bless ends when you cast a spell, or deal damage with skulls as the first troop.
  • CURSED: This is a negative status effect that makes all other status effects (including itself) only half as likely to automatically cleanse. In addition, it makes all affected troops able to be devoured, mana burned, or inflicted with negative status effects even if they would ordinarily be immune. It also cancels the Blessed effect (see above). It can cleanse automatically like most other negative status effects (though at half the rate).
  • BLEED: This is a negative status effect that causes a troop to take damage each turn. It can stack up to 4 times, and each stack increases to damage inflicted. One stack gives 1 damage per turn, 2 Stacks is 3 damage per turn, 3 stacks if 6 damage per turn, and 4 stacks is 10 damage per turn. It can cleanse automatically like most other negative status effects.

Help Center Articles
We’ve updated and added in new article on our Help center for the 4.2 Update:

4.1 Update Notes

New Weekly Event: Tower of Doom

  • Tower of Doom is a guild-focused event, encouraging guilds to work as a team to advance up the leaderboard or progress through the Tower
  • Each level in the tower has 4 rooms to battle, and a final “Boss Room” where a Doom troop awaits
  • Dooms are a new troop introduced for Tower of Doom, and have their own troop type: Doom
  • Unlike Delves, there is no persistence or team/troop loss, which means that any troops killed in battle, will be useable again in the next battle
  • In order to unlock the Doom’s Room (the final room) in a level of the tower, players will need to locate an Unlock Scroll, which is hidden within one of the first 4 rooms
  • Once a Doom is defeated, the player will advance to the next floor in the tower (players will not be able to go back to previous floors once they defeat the Doom)
  • As the player progresses through the Tower, each Floor will get more difficult
  • Each Tower of Doom will be focused on a specific color. Teams allowed into the tower will be restricted to this color, and the Ultimate Doom located on the 25th floor will also be that color.
  • After players reach and defeat the 25th level of the tower, they can continue to climb higher up the Tower, with the floor’s enemies, and Ultimate Doom increasing in difficulty
  • Ultimate Dooms will be slightly harder to battle than their regular versions
  • There are 6 different Dooms (and 6 different Ultimate Dooms):
    • Doom of Ice
    • Doom of Nature
    • Doom of Flame
    • Doom of Light
    • Doom of Darkness
    • Doom of Stone
  • All rooms will give scrolls that can be used to help players and their guilds progress through the Tower
  • There are 10 types of scroll available in any tower:
    • Armor Scroll – Gives Guild Armor Boon (see below)
    • Life Scroll – Gives Guild Life Boon (see below)
    • Attack Scroll – Gives Guild Attack Boon (see below)
    • Haste Scroll – Gives a Doom Sigil (energy for the event)
    • Magic Scroll – Gives Guild Magic Boon (see below)
    • Luck Scroll – Gives 2 bonus points towards the Guild’s Doom total
    • Power Scroll – Gives 1 to all Guild Boons
    • Unlock Scroll – Unlocks the Boss Room containing the Doom on this level
    • Heroism Scroll – Immediately defeat the Doom for this level and move on to the next level (you may collect these and use them anywhere in this tower)
    • Fireball Scroll – Immediately defeat a non-Boss Room (you may collect these and use them anywhere in this tower)
    • Colored Forge Scroll – Used to temper (update) Doomed Weapons of the matching color
  • Each Guild Boon found counts towards earning skill points for everyone in the guild. Once enough Boons (of a given type) are obtained by guildmembers, everyone earns a point. For example, the first player to find a Life Scroll, earns a point of Life for everyone in the guild. Then, when two more Life Scrolls have been found, everyone earns another point of Life. Then 3 more Scrolls, and so on.
  • Any unused scrolls (with the exception of Forge scrolls) will disappear after the Tower of Doom ends (so they can’t be carried over to future Tower of Doom events)
  • All Forge scrolls earned will be kept and can be viewed in the player’s inventory
  • A new Weapon rarity, called Doomed, has been added. A Doomed Weapon is available in every Tower of Doom event.
  • Doomed Weapons can only be upgraded using colored Forge scrolls from the tower of a matching color (they may not be upgraded with regular ingots):
    • Ice Forge Scroll – Tempers Blue Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Ice Tower events)
    • Nature Forge Scroll – Tempers Green Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Nature Tower events)
    • Flame Forge Scroll – Tempers Red Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Flame Tower events)
    • Light Forge Scroll– Tempers Yellow Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Light Tower events)
    • Dark Forge Scroll – Tempers Purple Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Dark Tower events)
    • Stone Forge Scroll – Tempers Brown Doomed Weapons (only available in Doom of Stone Tower events)
  • Similar to other Guild events, when the guild defeats a set number of Dooms, all members of the guild will be able to claim rewards
  • There are 12 stages of rewards for guilds to work towards. The final stages will require a strong commitment from large active guilds.
  • There is also a leaderboard for guilds to compete on, which displays the top 100 Guilds (sorted by total Dooms defeated)
  • At the end of the week all guild members will receive rewards based on their guild’s position (including any guilds that don’t quite make it into the top 100)
  • Doom Troops (just regular ones, not Ultimate ones) will be abled to earned as Tower of Doom rewards or from the event shop

Guild Gifting

  • Players are now able to send Gifts to their guildmates. This is done from the Roster menu
  • Gifts can be gained from purchasing Guild Bundles from the Guild Shop
  • Guild Gifts contain 25 gems, which can be all gifted to a single person, or spread around different guildmates
  • Gifts received can be collected from the Mail Menu
  • Any Guild Gifts a player earns, can be carried over to another Guild if they choose to change Guilds

Flash Offers

  • Flash Offers have now been added to the game
  • These offers have limitless variety, but initially will focus in 3 areas:
    • Troop Upgrade – These offers give resources to assist in upgrading Legendary and Mythic troops.
    • Gem Deals – These offers are extremely high value, and may only be purchased in limited quantities.
    • Weapon Packs – These offers give a weapons, and the resources to temper it, to beginner players.
  • Flash Offers will appear under the Hero’s level bar on the World Map
  • Flash Offers are timed, so once gone they will disappear
  • Players may have multiple Flash Offers available at once, which will cause a drop-down list to appear in the Flash Offer location
  • Some Flash Offers may be available for multiple purchases, up to a limit (shown below the BUY button)

New Live Event: Battlecrasher

  • Battlecrasher events work like encountering a Gnome. A certain troop (the Battlecrasher) will start to appear randomly in battles. Players who defeat it, and win the battle, will receive a reward.
  • Rewards for defeating a Battlecrasher troop will depend on the event so the reward may change for different Battlecrasher events
  • Battlecrasher troops will also be displayed with the treasure sack, like Gnomes
  • Battlecrasher Troops cannot spawn into any battles, if a Valraven or Gnome has appeared (so they can’t replace these troops)
  • Battlecrasher Troops will never spawn in Guild War battles.

Mail Menu

  • The Mail menu has been upgraded to reflect recent changes in the game.
  • Mail now has 5 sections:
    • Messages – Mail messages from the Gems of War Team (including support) will appear here
    • Rewards – This is where login rewards and guild rewards appear
    • Invites – Any guild invites a player may receive will be found here. This section only appears when the player has a guild invite
    • Gifts – Any gifts from Guildmates will be displayed here
    • Collected – Same as how it worked previously, any collected mail will be displayed here
  • Total Mail allowed (shared between all sections) is now displayed in the top right corner of the screen
  • Using the ‘Collect Rewards’ button will only collect the rewards from the section the player is currently on

Faction Event Scoring

We noticed a lot of players interacting with Faction Events by simply replaying the first difficulty (Level 20) and losing on the boss room, over and over again. Obviously this was not how we intended the event to be played, so we’ve made some changes to scoring.
  • Each regular room in the Faction Event / Delve is now worth a score of 5xLEVEL (multiplied by your current treasure multiplier)
  • Each boss/final room in the Faction Event / Delve is now worth a score of 20xLEVEL (multiplied by your current treasure multiplier)
  • This should make it advantageous to find the highest level you can farm on
  • We have also adjusted the reward/point requirements to reflect the scoring change.

Emperor Khorvash
  • Troop type change from Knight/ Monster to Human/ Monster

Goblin King
  • Spell now gives an Extra Turn

  • Spell now scales from half Magic

  • Mana Cost reduced from 9 to 5
  • Spell now scales from half Magic

Known Issues

  • Visual issue on Legendary Tasks menu, where the possible rewards are incorrectly displaying as Gold (rewards are still sent out and received correctly and don’t affect mail)
  • If you previously disabled all Alerts in 4.0, then try to re-enable Alerts after updating to 4.1, it will appear as if Alerts are enabled. However, any Alerts that are not classified as “Inactive Reminder” will not be received. To solve this, please remove the app and install it again. We will have a fix for this in the 4.2 Update.
  • Visual issue with changes to the Faction event point change, the points display on the room will still display points of the old version, however points will be rewarded correctly. This will be fixed in the 4.2 Update.

4.0 Update Notes - Underworld, Factions, Delves, and More!

World Map + HUD Upgrade

The Krystara Map has gained improvements, including:
  • 3D elements, New Particle effects, Removal of the Fog of War (over locked kingdoms)
  • Players will be able to change the quality level for maps in the Setting > Graphics menu, with the Water quality being separate from the regular graphics quality
  • To allow players to easily navigate between Krystara and the Underworld (see below), the HUD has been updated to include a central button, which has been added to the bottom of the HUD
  • This button will also flash when a Tribute is available to collect
  • Tapping this button will navigate you between the 2 maps (once you have unlocked the Underworld – see below for more details)
  • The button also displays which map you are currently located on
  • The Hero Menu is now accessed by tapping on your portrait in the top left corner

Underworld

  • We have added a whole new map to explore – the Underworld
  • The Underworld Map also shares the same visual improvements as the Krystara map (i.e. 3D Elements + Particle Effects)
  • Access to the Underworld is unlocked once a player completes the Sin of Maraj storyline
  • Unlike the Krystara Map, which requires you to unlock kingdoms next to each other to progress around the map, Factions in the Underworld can be unlocked in any order (once they have been released)

Factions

  • Factions in the Underworld are like a smaller version of Kingdoms, but are unique to the Underworld
  • Each Faction has new Troops, Weapons, Pets, a Banner, Quests and a Delve (more on Delves further below)
  • Factions unlock in a similar manner to Kingdoms, by paying a Gold cost
  • The main difference between Factions and Kingdoms are as follows:
    - Factions do not level
    - As such, there is no Skill bonus from levelling Factions
    - There is no Explore Mode
    - There is no Kingdom Power
    - Factions do not contribute income
    - Factions do not award an Epic at the end of their Quest line
    - Factions do not give Tributes
  • Faction Quests are shorter than their Kingdom counterparts, but once completed will allow access to Delves (similar to the way a Kingdom Questline allows access to Explore Mode)
  • 2 Factions will be available with the release of 4.0, the All-Seeing Eye and the Hall of Guardians
  • New factions will be released every 4-5 weeks
  • Factions are also linked to the Kingdoms of Krystara, meaning that collecting and levelling the troops from a Faction will count towards their sister Kingdom’s Progress

Renown

  • Renown is a new rating tied to Factions
  • There are 2 types of Renown:
Faction Renown – which represents your exploits within a Faction. Each Faction tracks its own Renown separately
Underworld Renown – which is the sum of all your Faction Renown (for all the Factions you have unlocked)
  • Each Faction gives Faction Renown for:
    - Highest level DELVE completed (up to Level 500) ~ 2pts per level
    - Highest Level DELVE competed with no casualties (up to Level 500) ~ 1pt per level
    - High Level DELVE completed with the Faction Team (up to Level 500) ~ 1pt per Level
    - Treasure Hoard Levels obtained (up to 100) ~ 5pts per level
  • Each Faction’s Renown is capped at 2500 Renown Points
  • Faction Renown gives consumable rewards at various milestones, but also give access to the Faction Pet at higher Renown (Faction Pets cannot be earned from Pet Gnomes)
  • Underworld Renown will also give rewards at various milestones, many of which are permanent bonuses
  • Underworld Renown is only capped by the number of Factions unlocked (2500 x the number of Factions)

Chaos Portals

  • Chaos Portals are similar to Chests, as opening a Chaos Portal will reward you with one of a Faction’s Troops or Treasures
  • Each faction has its own Chaos Portal which can be opened with Chaos Shards
  • Chaos Shards are earned from Delves and Faction Events
  • Chaos Shards are not exclusive to a faction, so Chaos shards earned from Delves in one Faction can be used on a Chaos Portal in another faction
  • It cost 20 Chaos Shards to open a Chaos Portal
  • Chaos Shards (spent on Chaos Portals) are the only way (outside of a Faction Event Shop) to get Faction Troops and Treasures

Delves

  • Delves are a series of battles in a Lair, typically 3-9 battles depending on the player’s choices for a short or long experience
  • Players do not need to complete all Delve battles in one sitting (allowing players to take a break in the middle of a Delve and come back to finish it later)
  • Delves must be completed using a single team, and any troops killed will not be available in future battles in that single run through the Lair
  • Factions Delves put team restrictions based on the 2 main colors of the Faction (which can also be seen of the Faction’s banner), so a Green/ Brown Faction would allow players to create a team with any troop with Brown OR any troop with Green (e.g. Brown/Yellow is acceptable, Green/Blue is acceptable, Green/Brown is acceptable, but Yellow/Purple is not). This ensures a wide variety of troops are available for each Delve Team.
  • Delves have a reward chest that upgrades as players play through the Delve
  • Delve Chests drop: Chaos Shards, Mythic/Legendary Ingots, Souls, Gold & Glory (depending of the level of the Delve chest when it is collected)
  • Players may only attempt 3 Delves total per Day (so the 3 Delves are shared between all Factions)
  • The starting level for all Delves is Level 20 – when players first unlock a Faction, this is the only Delve that can be attempted
  • The Maximum Delve level is 500
  • After a Delve has been completed, players will unlock a Delve 10 levels higher (up to the maximum of 500)
  • Players always have the option of playing the highest Delve they’ve completed, a Delve 10 levels lower (unless they are on L20), and a Delve 10 levels higher (unless they are on 500)
  • Once a Delve is selected energy is used (you get 3 energy per day)
  • Delve levels are not shared so when unlocking a new Faction, you will need to start back at level 20 again and then level up through the different difficulties
  • Each Dungeon contains 8-10 battles which are called Rooms, Only the Starting Room and Boss Room in a Delve with be the same, with the other 6 Rooms being randomly chosen

  • Rooms have the following data:
    - Rarity – Rooms may be anywhere from Common to Mythic. This generally indicates the quality of the team in the room.
    - Level – A Mythic Room appears at the same level as the Delve. Common Rooms are 50% of that, Rares are 60%, UltraRares are 70%, Epics are 80%, Legendaries are 90%.
    - Team of Enemies – Who you will fight in the battle.
    - Room Reward – Every room has rewards that it will give (these are separate to the battle victory rewards).
    - Chance to upgrade Delve Chest – Upgrading the Delve chest gives better rewards at the end of the Delve.
    - Chance to upgrade the Treasure Multiplier – Treasure multiplier will affect the rewards gained from Rooms defeated AS WELL AS the rewards in the Delve Chest.
    - Buff for Future Rooms – These buffs may be for enemies in other Rooms or they may be for the player’s team… so choose your order of rooms carefully!

  • Excluding Starting Rooms and Boss Rooms, there are 34 random Rooms for players to encounter (more will be added in future updates)
  • Players start with no Delve chest and will need to defeat the first Room to earn a level 1 Delve chest
  • Players are not required defeat all the battles in a Delve and can just run up to the Boss Room and ignore any extra rooms if they choose to. The bonus of running more rooms is that your Delve Chest & Treasure Multipliers will increase.
  • Retreating from a battle will be counted as a loss, marking the Room as completed and will end the Delve
  • Attempting Delves of higher level than your last completed level will give a higher multiplier (x2) than replaying Delves of the same level (x1) or lower level (x0.5)
  • When players lose a battle or chose to Run away, they will get to keep whatever treasure they have found so far, including the Delve Chest

Treasure Hoards

  • Each Faction’s Treasure Hoard is upgraded using Treasures, which can be gained from Chaos Portals, and Gold
  • There are two upgrades to your Treasure Hoard:
    - Level – Requires XP for each level (increasing amounts of XP are required per level). There is no level cap, however players only gain Faction Renown up to level 100.
    - Quality – Only has a chance to upgrade each time you add XP, though this chance can be increased by adding more treasures at once or treasures of higher rarities. Treasure Hoards can only gain up to a Quality of 10
  • Treasure Hoard Level will give skill point bonuses for your team in that Faction’s Delve (these will also apply to any Delve events occurring in that Faction)
  • Treasure Hoard Quality gives bonuses that affect the Delve Chest in that Faction’s Delve
  • There are 6 types of Treasures which give different amounts of XP towards levelling the Treasure Hoard, and different percentage chances to upgrade the Treasure Hoard Quality
  • Up to 5 Treasure may be added at a time, with the gold cost increasing for higher-level Treasure Hoards
  • As mentioned previously, upgrading Treasure Hoards will also increase your Faction’s Renown
  • Treasures can be collected like troops, however leveling/ ascending treasure does not give additional bonuses when they are sacrificed to the Treasure Hoard

Faction Delve Events

There are 2 types of Delve events:
- New Faction – which runs for 3 Days (normally over weekend) when a new Faction releases.
- Existing Faction – which runs for 1 day, usually midweek.
Both events give bonus rewards & the opportunity to target that faction’s troops for collection
Players start with, and gain, 3 Sigils per day for the event
Completed Delves earns points which give bonus Chaos Shards as Rewards (along with Gold, Souls, Ingots, Diamonds, Vault Keys & Orbs)
Event store will give:
- Sigils
- Chaos Shards
- Faction Weapon
- Ingots
- Faction Epic Troops
- Treasures
- Other troops usable in the event[
Valravens can be discovered during the event but are more rare than other events due to the fact that each Delve is up to 10 battles!
Rooms in a Delve will be worth Points, which are multiplied by your current treasure multiplier (100 points per room, 200 points for the boss room)

Puzzle Game Changes

We originally decreased mana gained from 100% to 70% back in 2015, due to the amount of mana gain from the spells was outscaling any other means to gain mana in the game and causing troops to be able to chain their spells.

In the past few months, as Magic has continued to scale higher and higher, this same behaviour has reappeared, with some explosion spells being able to power up mythic troops in a single cast (from 0 mana). As such we have reviewed the mana gain from exploders and after a long experimental time, decided to reduce the mana gain down to 50%. Mana gain from any gem cascade after an explosion will still get 100% of the mana (and it turns out that is often where half of your mana comes from).

With Doomstorm, we found that once triggered the number of doomskulls dropping would heavily tip the game in the favour whoever was winning, with little chance for their opponent to counter it. We’ve decided to tone it down a bit, so it’s not quite as deadly and allows some room for opponents to come back.

  • Mana gain from Explosions has been reduced from 70% to 50%
  • Doomstorms now have a slightly lower chance to spawn Doomskulls onto the board
