It's A Patch! (Version 1.9.92)

Happy New Year!

After a complaint that the game was not very playable using 4K monitors, I added an additional screen setting for 3840x2160. The engine the game was made on, while not strictly predating 4K monitors, was not really made with them in mind - as they were only an extremely high end luxury items at that time. So, apparently full screen does not work too well with them.

I also added an oversized mouse cursor when in that mode, as apparently the default cursor was tiny. Now, I don't actually own a 4K monitor so I wasn't able to test this at all. From what I've heard it's at least playable with this screen setting ːhappyraiderː

So, here's what's new in 1.9.92:
--------------------------------

* It's Over 4,000! *

- Added a new screen resolution setting that should hopefully make the game playable on a 4K monitor.

--------------------------------

Also, as a reminder, there is currently a player made raid contest going on for the first part of 2018. You can read the details on the last news announcement or the community forum here. Thanks for playing!

Third Year Anniversary!!! Updates, A Contest, and... well, that's about it really.

Updates??? Updates!?!?

That's right! To celebrate three years of It's A Wipe! being on Steam I put together a new Player Made Raid for the occasion! This raid is intended for guilds that have beaten the game and are solidly geared. Anyone that farmed a ton might find it a little on the easy side, but new guilds will wipe pretty quickly.

Why a Player Made Raid, instead of a new core raid that drops loot, you might ask? Well, starting today, I want to put forth a challenge to the It's A Wipe! community. Since I have primarily been working on my next game, Heroes of Kingspoint, I haven't had much free time. I literally put together this new raid yesterday. Now I do have a lot of experience, since I made the original game and all. But, I think that, given enough time, you the players can come up with even more entertaining raids.

So, I am announcing the following contest:
From now until April 1st, 2018 any owners of It's A Wipe! may submit a working Player Made Raid to the workshop to enter this contest. From April 1st until April 30th owners of It's A Wipe! can submit a vote for their favorite raid submitted during the contest period. The winner will get a beta invite and free copy of Heroes of Kingspoint when it is finally released (probably 2019). If there are more than 10 submissions, I will also give a 2nd and 3rd prize of a free copy of my next game, just without getting to try it during beta testing.

I hope that more raids from the community will help everyone get more entertainment out of the game, so this is my attempt to give people a push towards trying their hand at making their own fights. I know the player made raid system is a little clunky. So, if you need help getting your raid working or need mechanics added that are not currently available, feel free to either contact me on the forums here or sent an e-mail to [email protected].

Some small patch notes, relating to player made raid content.
- Fixed an issue with BombTimer always doing 15 damage.
- Added an Explode command that works like BombTimer, but with a set round instead of the more awkward timer used by respawning bombs.

Thanks for playing the game!

Happy Thanksgiving, Steam Awards, I'm Not Dead, & Other News

It has been almost a year since I posted any announcements on here, so this is probably well overdue!

First off, Happy Thanksgiving! (At least to anyone celebrating it in the U.S.)

Second thing, I'm still alive and working on the new game I mentioned last annoucement. If anyone has been keeping track of the blog I mentioned
( http://kingspointcastle.com/devblog/ ) then you probably already have a decent idea of how it is progressing. I was hoping to have it ready to try out a Kickstarter next month, coinciding with the third anniversary of It's A Wipe! being on Steam. But, I think I'm going to push that back until next year. I don't want to rush it because of some arbitrary deadline. I want to it playable before trying to get funding for better polish.

Steam is also doing another round of Steam Awards. There's a ton of great games out there, but I would appreciate any nods for I.A.W! Heh, even the somewhat backhanded "Whoa, Dude!".

No real updates to It's A Wipe! in a while, since as far as I know it is working fine. I haven't heard about any bugs in over a year, though that might just be due to lack of players ːunhappyraiderː Just as a reminder, I did put together a utility to be able to make Player Made Raids. No one has followed up with me for assistance with making one or with a raid to post. So, I don't know if anyone else has ever used it. If anyone does have an interest in expanding the game with their own raid ideas, feel free to drop me a line if you find there's any missing functionality in the utility that you need.

That's about all I have to write about at the moment. Hopefully I'll be back with more news about the new project in a few months. I hope that everyone has a great week and enjoys the current Steam sale and thank you for taking the time to read this!
