[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

It's launch day – Lilac 0 is available to buy and play right now! It's primarily aimed at skilled STG fans who enjoy a challenging retro experience, although there is a 'Novice' mode where players can get to grips with the game under slightly less intense gameplay conditions :)

To see the game in action, check the trailer above or watch the pre-recorded broadcast currently running on the store page – it shows a playthrough of the first level on each of the three difficulties (you can also see some of the different unlockable colour palettes). And if you're eyeing-up a lofty position on the leaderboards, this scoring guide is essential reading.

ONE AGAINST ALL!

Lilac 0: Scoring guide
With the Lilac 0 demo now live and the full release fast approaching (4th March!), we wanted to give some extra insight into the game's scoring system. On a basic level, it's about consecutively killing as many enemies as you can without taking a hit, but the guide below will help you keep the multiplier high and maximise scoring potential.

LILAC 0: SCORING SYSTEM GUIDE
• When killing an enemy, the score multiplier in the top right slightly increases (+0.1). This continues until it reaches a limit of (x8.0). Missing an enemy (meaning it leaves the screen before dying) lowers it by (-0.5), and getting hit makes it drop by (-4.0) .

 • The score multiplier does not carry over to boss fights.

 • When slicing enemies, it begins a 'slice chain'. The score multiplier turns from purple to orange and each enemy killed during the chain increases the multiplier by (0.5). This allows the multiplier to rise above the (x8.0) threshold.

 • If you don't slice another enemy within 1 second, the slice chain is broken, and the score multiplier reverts to purple.

 • Every 3 enemies killed during a slice chain awards you style points.

 • Scanning enemies to damage them is effectively the same as slicing them with a dash. You can mix scan and slice kills to keep a slice chain going.

 • Style points are also awarded for overkilling sub-bosses and bosses. Every end of level boss can be overkilled when certain conditions are met. For example, to overkill the Level 1 boss, you must dash through it while it traverses the screen during its last attack.

 • Overkilling bosses also awards more points than simply beating them normally.

 • A 'Style' rating is given at the end of every level. More style points = a higher rating, with 'S' being the highest. Ratings are also given at the end of the level for 'Miss' and 'Kill'. Miss = how successfully you evaded enemies and bullets (i.e. not being hit). Kill = how many enemies you killed.

 • Based on the end of level ratings, additional points are awarded to the score tally. An S rating is worth +10000 points, so it's possible to gain a maximum of +30000 points at the end of each level.

 • There are also other minor ways of getting more points, such as grabbing an HP pickup when your health is already full.

We hope you're enjoying the demo. You'll be able to experience the full game when it launches 4th March. Thanks for playing!
