Nothing Beyond This Point News

Nothing Beyond This Point is OUT NOW!

[p]The Void beckons![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Nothing Beyond This Point, the strange Metroidvania with infinite regeneration, spending health as damage, and navigation instead of platforming... It's out. It has launched. Go get it, it's great and very affordable and definitely not terrifying![/p][p][/p][p]Couple of notes:[/p]
  • [p]Tip: play aggressively. Don't let enemies heal or live for long. There's no contact damage and infinite regeneration, so going ham is encouraged. Fireballs, fireballs![/p]
  • [p]Demo data carries over! This is normal. You may delete your file if you wish, it should work either way.[/p]
  • [p]Controller is still fully supported, but keyboard and mouse are recommended.[/p]
  • [p]All achievements can be obtained in your first playthrough, except for beating hard mode. So don't worry about missing anything crucial. Take your time. Remember you have a Voidlog...[/p]
  • [p]Instead, worry about missing the secret bosses that may or may not exist.[/p]
[p]Good luck! Please leave a review if you can, it massively helps with visibility![/p][p]And don't get lost in there, yeah?[/p][p]-Dieuwt[/p]

Release has moved up!

[h2]Hi everyone![/h2][p]I'll keep it short. A LOT of Metroidvanias are releasing on March 31st/April 1st (Nemo, Grime 2, Tombwater, Legacy of Kain...), and I don't want my little game to be in that chaotic cluster. So, fairly last-minute, I've decided to move my release date.[/p][p]...to a week earlier.[/p][p][/p][p]New release date is March 25th! Or March 24th if you're anywhere outside of Australia, which is most of you. That should give you enough time to play and beat the game before you start any of the wonderful games of my fellow Metroidvania developers.[/p][p]Looking forward to it![/p][p]- Dieuwt[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Progress update, and release date!

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]The development cycle of Nothing Beyond This Point is coming to an end, and it only seems fair to give an update on some things.[/p][p][/p]
Full Scope
[p]The game is almost finished! In total there will be 16 areas, 12 bosses (although I may have miscounted?), 4 endings, and a bunch of secrets big and small. All that's left on my end is the final boss and main ending. We're getting there. Final boss takes a while, to nobody's surprise, but he's well on his way to becoming great. And also really big.[/p][p]The end is near.[/p][p]Apart from the final boss, my main focus right now is polishing everything up. Fixing bugs and crashes, adding particles and effects, removing unnecessary things. Everything must be up to code, whatever that code is. There's always going to be issues to work out, pre- and post-release, I just want to find as much as possible so release date won't fall flat on its face.[/p][p][/p][p]...ugh, do I have to?[/p][p]As for extra content, boss rush might make it in if I have enough time. I'll for sure add it eventually, but before or after release is currently unknown. The same goes for extra bosses, although my hand may have slipped and accidentally added one already. Oh well. You can also enjoy a Bestiary, a Jukebox, and something to get you that 100%...[/p][p][/p][p]Who is this, then?[/p]
Release!
[p]Release date will be April 1st, 2025! As mentioned before, it will be 5 USD.[/p][p][/p][p]That's not an April Fools joke, my schedule just works out nicely this way. It will be Sydney time, so March 31st for most of the world.[/p][p][/p][p]EDIT as of 2026/02/25: the release date has moved up a week, see next announcement.[/p][p][/p][p]On that day, the full OST will also release for 1 USD. It's almost two hours long, so well worth it if you ask me. In the meantime, check out this bonus (?) song for free! It's used... somewhere, that's for sure.[/p]
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Signing off
[p]This will likely be the last update before release. I should really do more marketing, but I don't like that, so I'd rather make the game than telling people about it. I'm really hoping the game will be received well, obviously![/p][p][/p][p]As always, you can join my Discord or follow me on Bluesky for some extra updates and other things to enrich your life with. I used to have Twitter but... well, we all know what happened.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]See you in the Void.[/p][p]-Dieuwt[/p]

Progress update!

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]Work on Nothing Beyond This Point has been ongoing for a while now, but I haven't made any posts in a while! That seems wrong. I should make a post in the form of a progress update! And here we are.[/p]
An Area Aoverview
[p]There's 16 areas planned for NBTP, and of those, 13 are completely done right now! The 14th one is in progress, but it's gonna take a bit longer than most, considering its gimmick is quite... special. Honestly, it's worth playing the game for the 14th area alone.[/p][p]Things that you can look out for now also include, but are absolutely not limited to:[/p]
  • [p]A big fancy puzzle![/p]
  • [p]Obelisk 2.0, now with less corruption![/p]
  • [p]Burnable flags![/p]
  • [p]Killer bosses![/p]
  • [p]Eyes.[/p]
[p]Eyes?[/p][p]What's with the eyes, anyway? ...It's probably fine.[/p][p]I'm constantly going back through areas and improving things. More item animations, additional decoration, improved layouts, and so on. The bigger a game is, the longer it takes to make. But worry not, the enemies, bosses, and their musical tracks are of the highest quality. According to me.[/p][p]The soundtrack will be uploaded to Youtube and get its own 1$ purchase! It'll likely be about 1.5 hours long and I'm sure you'll like most of it.[/p]
Marketing Efforts
[p]Speaking about Youtube! Making a game is hard. Making a good game is extremely hard. Marketing a game? Impossible. I'll be a bit transparent about what I'm doing.[/p][p]I'm on a continuous process to scout out Twitch streamers, Youtubers, and other content creators that may like to play Nothing Beyond This Point. I currently have over 100 emails and several Discords to spread the message, but if you know anyone in particular, let me know.[/p][p]I'll also be distributing the game via Steam's Curator Connect system - but only once it's content-complete![/p][p]Wait, these statues are still alive? Uh oh.[/p]
Are You Still On Track?
[p]Yes, I am still on track. Early 2026 release will most likely happen. Depending on how soon I'll be done with the base content, I may add some bonus things as well! Things that are on the table include:[/p]
  • [p]Boss rush[/p]
  • [p]The Bestiary[/p]
  • [p]4 extra bosses, with rewards[/p]
  • [p]Secret rooms[/p]
  • [p]Another ending (there's 3 planned so this'll be the 4th)[/p]
  • [p]Who knows![/p]
[p]If you buy the game at launch, it'll be complete, but I'll always keep fixing things and will likely add post-launch features too. So don't hesitate! Wishlist Nothing Beyond This Point and have a jolly good time venturing through the endless Void.[/p][p]But seriously, though, what is it with these eyes?[/p][p]I feel like I'm not alone anymore.[/p]
