What’s next for Blaze of Empires after Steam Next Fest?



Hello everyone! First of all, I want to thank from the bottom of my heart those who took a moment of their time to play the demo. Your feedback has been the compass we needed to finish charting the course for this project.

[h2]What we learned from you[/h2]
During these days, it became clear to us that we must prioritize fluidity on PC. We are working hard to improve controls and keyboard shortcuts, as well as redesigning the user experience (UI/Tutorial). We want you to feel the familiarity of the great RTS classics when playing, but with that unique essence that makes Blaze of Empires special.

[h2]About the launch[/h2]
To achieve the quality you deserve, we have decided to move the release date back by 3 months. This extra time is vital to polish every detail of the story, the campaign, and the challenges. Our goal is to deliver an RTS with deep lore, a solid cooperative mode, and flawlessly functioning multiplayer to play with friends.

As a thank you to our Steam followers, we want to pay a special tribute to you. From now on, every unit created in the game will have a random name based on our community. Your name could be leading the charge on the battlefield! As long as it is not offensive, we want you to leave your mark.

Update #1 – New RTS controls, better formations and fog of war

  • [p]Improved the formation system: units now move to their formation positions in a much smarter and cleaner way, reducing odd movements and unnecessary collisions.[/p]
  • [p]Improved and optimized the look of the fog of war, resulting in a clearer, more visually appealing presentation with better performance.[/p]
[h2]🎮 Controls & Selection[/h2]
  • [p]Added the Shift key to allow adding units to the current selection when drag-selecting, keeping the previous selection.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted the game controls to be closer to the standard RTS controls on PC, providing a more familiar experience for players of the genre.[/p]
[h2]🛠 Fixes[/h2]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the template of the currently selected building was constructed when trying to press a button in the UI.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a problem where dragging the rally flag from the UI did not properly update the spawn position of units from the building.[/p]
  • [p]Resolved a shortcut conflict where Ctrl + A conflicted with A, causing both to trigger at the same time.[/p]

  • Create control groups with Ctrl + number keys.
  • Select control groups with the numeric keys.
  • Construct buildings using the QWER and ASDF keys.
  • Select buildings with Ctrl + QWER/ASDF.
  • Place the rally flag with a right-click.

[h2]Graphics Improvements[/h2]
  • Implementation of real-time shadows.
  • Higher resolution for some textures.
  • Improved look across different environments.
  • Fixes to certain unit equipment.

[h2]New Game Mode[/h2]
  • The Demigod ranking will be removed and turned into casual matches for players who want to complete daily missions without competitive pressure.

[h2]Reported Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Missing “Exit Game” button.
  • Camera movement.
  • Further polish to UI scale and resolution.
