skate. - Season 1

[p]Welcome to skate.’s Season 1, starting Oct 7, 2025 and running until Dec 2, 2025!

As we drop into Season 1, we wanted to give you a little refresher about our Seasonal process and get you ready for Season 1. Each Season in San Vansterdam will add more to the game, such as new skateable areas, new Challenges and Tasks, Seasonal events like Skate-o-Ween and the 7-Ply Maple Harvest, new brand partners, additional cosmetics, new tracks to the soundtrack, and a new skate.Pass, plus bug fixes and quality of life improvements. We’ll add more life and style to the city, like some spooky decor around the city for Skate-o-Ween and in-game events. With Season 1, we’re also implementing our first pass of visual updates, as shared in The Grind: Vol. 6. [/p][p]
So what’s in Season 1?
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]First, San Van is going to get a little makeover to do it up for the Season, and there’s plenty to discover once you drop in. Check out some of the seasonal decor we’re bringing to spots like The Orb, The Skateway, and new skateable areas around the city. Here’s a preview of what’s coming to the city.

[/p]
Skate-o-Ween
[p]
Skate-o-Ween, as it's called in San Van, is the annual Halloween celebration, less focused on the spookiness and more about getting a chuckle out of someone, creating an inventive costume, and just getting together to skate in a fun outfit.[/p][p]
During San Van’s Skate-o-Ween, skaters often don outfits that are callbacks to the origins of skateboarding - you'll see costumes, wild styles, or the baggy pants and chunky shoes of the early aughts worn ironically (and sometimes unironically). What a time. Even the companies of San Van get in on the fun - seizing on the opportunity to market their brands by selling corporate mascots for people to wear around the city. [/p][p]
[/p]
7-Ply Maple Harvest
[p][/p][p]The annual 7-Ply Maple Harvest occurs every year with the harvesting of San Van’s famous 7-Ply Maple trees. The Maple Harvest began in the early 20th century when a particularly robust variety of Maple Tree was discovered here. In the 70s, skaters discovered that by harvesting the San Van Maple every seven years, the wood produced would be perfectly suited for skateboard construction. Since then, the Harvest has evolved into a festival that embodies respect for the hearty, humble hardwood, as well as a celebration of accomplishments, growth, and reflection on the year since the last harvest.[/p][p]
Each of these events will have community parks updated to celebrate the event. Plus, there’s themed cosmetics you can earn from participating in the events and earning Tix, and some you can grab from the Extravert Shop in-game. Community parks are public spaces in SV with custom layouts that rotate daily. Community parks will change each season, with the most popular ones returning in future seasons. [/p][p]Skate-O-Ween runs from Oct. 21 - Nov. 11, with the 7-Ply Maple Harvest dominating the city from Nov. 18 - Dec. 2.

As you complete the in-game seasonal events, you’ll earn event currency to exchange for special Event cosmetics in-game. We’ll have more details on each event before they go live in-game.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Seasonal events aren’t the only thing to do during Season 1. We’ll have 40 new Challenges for Season 1, with new Challenges added weekly, on top of the Challenges already live in the game. We’ll also have Seasonal Tasks – daily, weekly, seasonal and event tasks:[/p]
  • [p]Daily (~3-5/day)- a list of objectives that update daily[/p]
  • [p]Weekly(~6/week)- an event that unlocks each week and lasts until the end of Season 1[/p]
  • [p]Seasonal (~10)- larger objectives that last all of Season 1[/p]
  • [p]Event- objectives tied to the in-game event, which reward specific event currency[/p]
[p]Doing all those Challenges and Tasks gets you Tix, and those Tix get your rewards. [/p][p][/p][p]As we mentioned for each Season, we’ll also have the skate.Pass. The skate.Pass has two tracks - the Standard (free) and Premium track - where you earn currency called “Tix” each season to buy items from the in-game store, which can be earned via: [/p]
  • [p]Daily, weekly, and Seasonal Tasks (including completion bonuses)[/p]
  • [p]Seasonal Challenges[/p]
  • [p]Daily grants (Premium skate.Pass only)[/p]
  • [p]Exchange for San Van Bucks[/p]
[p][/p][p]skate.Passes can only be obtained from the in-game store during the seasons in which they are released. You’ll always be able to complete the Standard (Free) track without having to purchase the skate.Pass, but you’ll need to upgrade to the Premium track for 1000 SVB to get access to the Premium items. By acquiring the Premium skate.Pass, you’ll also be able to continue progressing and unlock rewards for up to one additional Season. Once the following Season ends, you can’t complete progression against the legacy skate.Pass. [/p][p]
[/p][p]Now, if you want to get a bundle of SVB, some cosmetics, AND the Season 1 skate.Pass, you can purchase the Founder’s Pack or Founder’s Deluxe Pack –  available on the skate.Shop. [/p][p]
[/p][p]Fun fact: SVB purchases on the skate.Shop gives you 10% extra SVB. For EA Play subscribers, you can also get 10% off any purchase on the skate.Shop, including add-on content Packs and SVB purchases.

Through the progression of the Standard and Premium skate.Pass tiers, you can earn up to 400 SVB to buy some gear in-game or to help purchase the next Season’s skate.Pass.[/p][p][/p][p]So what are the rewards in Season 1?
[/p][p]For Season 1, as it’s a little shorter season, you’ll have 82 tiers to work through (38 Standard and 44 Premium) to earn 32 free cosmetic items and 6 tiers of SVB on the Standard track, and 42 cosmetic items and 2 tiers of SVB on the Premium track, bringing your total rewards for both the Standard and Premium track (combined) to 74 cosmetic items and 8 tiers of SVB (up to 400 SVB total when you complete progression). This includes board items (like decks, stickers, trucks, griptape, and wheels), character items (like clothing, shoes, costumes, hats), gestures, as well as profile items like banners and avatars, with tiers ranging from uncommon, epic, rare, and legendary.[/p][p]
[/p][p]What are some of the cosmetics? [/p][p]
Some of the Free items are:[/p][p]
Fresh Green Stripes Polo, Beige Baggy Jorts, PRMAFLO Puffletic White, Backwards White Baseball Cap are part of the Standard (Free) track rewards. [/p][p]
Lucky Stripe cargo pants and Jazz Bucket hat can be acquired through the Standard track; Tie Dye Kitty Baby Tee is part of the Premium track rewards.[/p][p][/p][p]And for some of the Premium items, we’ve got:[/p][p]Hesh Leather Jacket, Ripped Jeans, and Camden boots are part of the Premium Track Rewards.[/p][p]
Yes, we also mentioned costumes, such as the Livingston costume, featuring the mascot of San Van, as a skate.Pass Premium Reward:[/p][p][/p][p]There are endless ways to express yourself with new collabs and gear from some of the best brands in skateboarding. We’ve got Girl Skateboard, Chocolate skateboards, Thrasher, Royal Trucks, Vans, Dickies, & Dime already in the game, and with Season 1, we’re bringing Santa Cruz, Creature, and Independent to San Vansterdam, just to name a few.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Now that’s just a sample of some of the cosmetics you can get through Season 1’s skate.Pass Standard Track and Premium track, but that’s not all we’re bringing to San Van for Season 1. As we’ve mentioned in The Grind, we’ll be updating the in-game soundtrack every season. This season, we’re bringing 21 new songs into the rotation, and we’re definitely bringing a 90s vibe.

[/p]
  1. [p]Bad Religion - Against The Grain[/p]
  2. [p]Dinosaur Jr. - Freak Scene[/p]
  3. [p]Gang Star - Full Clip[/p]
  4. [p]Jane's Addiction - Stop![/p]
  5. [p]Sonic Youth - Teen Age Riot[/p]
  6. [p]Joey BADA$$ - Pardon Me[/p]
  7. [p]Ice Cube - Bop Gun (One Nation)[/p]
  8. [p]Naughty By Nature - It's On[/p]
  9. [p]Operation Ivy - Sound System[/p]
  10. [p]Skegss - L.S.D (Live. Sleep. Die)[/p]
[p]We’ll be dropping the full list of new music coming to San Van next week, so stay tuned. [/p][p]
There’s a lot more for you to discover when you jump in, and we’re stoked to welcome you to skate. Early Access Seasons.

See you in San Vansterdam,[/p][p]

The Grind: Vol 6

[p]Welcome to The Grind: Vol 6!

We made it - Early Access is here! It's been incredible for us to welcome so many new skaters to San Vansterdam this week! Thanks for your patience while we continue to flex the servers to fit you all in! And for coming back here to check out The Grind. Our teams continue to triage and work on your bug and issue reports and feedback posted on our official skate. Forums. Last week we shared some top-tracked Known Issues here, and the team continues to work on more bugs as we head to Update 0.28 and Season 1. [/p][p]
If you’re new here, The Grind is where we share important information about upcoming updates and additions, and answer your direct questions we gather off our official Discord. Since April, we’ve dropped 5 volumes of The Grind (Vol 1, Vol 2, Vol 3, Vol 4, Vol 5)

In August, we got busy sharing the overview of San Vansterdam in our “Welcome to San Vansterdam” article and allowed sharing of gameplay capture post-August 29 from our playtest to get ready to open the doors for Early Access.

So what’s next for The Grind? Well, with the game live, we want to reduce the time between volumes by shifting to The Weekly Grind. This weekly community post will celebrate the community, content, talk about what’s happening in the city of San Vansterdam, highlight players in the game and sick spots, and more.[/p][p][/p][p]Before we jump into the meat of The Grind: Vol 6, we wanted to first thank all our skate. Insiders again for your hours and hours of playtesting, hundreds and thousands of posts sharing bugs, issues, and feedback, and the awesome content we’ve seen. You are why we got to this huge moment and opened the gates of San Van to the world.[/p][p]And we want to share some fun stats our awesome data team pulled during the skate.Insider Early Access preview (from Aug 26 - Sept 15, 2025).[/p]
  • [p]+181 million Kickflips[/p]
  • [p]+134 Million Ollies[/p]
  • [p]+20 Million Laserflips[/p]
  • [p]+300K Rocket Airs[/p]
  • [p]+81k Japan Airs[/p]
  • [p]+175K Fake Steez Gesture used[/p]
[p]We’ll have some stats to share in our first volume of The Weekly Grind that takes a look back at the data from Early Access launch up to Season 1 launch.[/p][p]In The Grind Vol. 5, we answered one of your most popular questions about the game’s visuals, letting you know that, along with everything else, the characters and world will evolve throughout Early Access and beyond to add more detail and personality. Here’s what we said: [/p]
[p]“It’s important to remember that Early Access is just the beginning. Everything from the gameplay to core features to visuals will continue evolving and improving during Early Access and beyond. This is a new game, a new world, and we’re excited about where it’s headed. We think this is the best skateboarding experience we have ever created. Will the visuals change over time? Absolutely. You'll see the characters and world evolve to include even more detail and personality through our future updates.”[/p]
[p]Today, we’re ready to show off the very first part of this ongoing evolution. When Season 1 launches on October 7th, you’ll immediately notice a whole new look. The lighting in the world has been adjusted to be a bit less high contrast and more grounded and lived in. It’s like San Van at “Golden Hour.”[/p][p]While this is only Step One of what will be an ongoing development of the game’s visuals, we want to give you a sneak peek today! And once this update releases, we want your feedback so we can keep improving and iterating. [/p][p]Check out the before and after shots below to see what’s coming VERY soon.

[/p][p]
Now, in The Grind: Vol 5, we mentioned skate.Pass and how we’ll roll out Seasons as the game continues to evolve, and this volume of The Grind will jump into that, some new Season 1 content, Founder’s Packs, and more.
[/p][p]Let’s talk skate.Pass first. [/p]
skate.Pass
[p]Introducing: the skate.Pass. Starting with Season 1, as you play skate. you will earn in-game Seasonal currency (Tix) that will allow you to unlock new pages of the skate.Pass. Each page unlocks a new set of rewards that you can choose from. Rewards are split into Free and Premium tracks. Everyone must earn skate.Pass levels to unlock rewards, but Free rewards are accessible without owning the Premium pass. Each page of the skate.Pass requires you to earn a total amount of skate.Pass currency, aka Tix, to unlock. You can then exchange that currency for items you want. [/p][p]

For Season 1, it’s a little shorter than regular seasons, so there’s over 80 rewards split between the Free and Premium tracks - including free track customization items like the White Backward Cap or Lucky Strip Cargo pants, decks and gear like SN8K Wheels or the “I Know Skate-Fu” deck, stickers, outfits, and social items like badges and emotes. (Season 1 is a little shorter, but regular seasons going forward will have about 100 items available to unlock in between the Free and Premium tracks of the skate.Pass.) With the Standard and Premium tracks, you can even earn SVB - and use some of that SVB to help buy the next season's Premium skate.Pass.
[/p][p]Don’t worry—you won’t miss out if you can’t complete the Season 1 pass before Season 2 drops in December. As long as you obtain a seasonal Premium skate.Pass before that season ends, you can continue working on Season 1 through Season 2, Season 2 through Season 3, etc. Seasons[/p][p]Each Season in San Van will add more to the game, such as new skateable areas, new Challenges and Tasks (like the weekly “Earn Score in Hedgemont 0/250000”), Seasonal events like the Skate-o-Ween and the 7 Ply Maple Harvest, new brand partners like Santa Cruz, Independent, and Creature, more cosmetics, new tracks to the soundtrack like Operation Ivy’s “Sound System” or Jurassic 5’s “What’s Golden”, plus bug fixes and quality of life improvements. And with each Season, we’ll add more to the city, like adding some spooky decor around San Van for Skate-o-Ween and in-game events. [/p][p]Through skate.’s Seasons, we’ll bring new content to the game, as well as legacy features and ideas. One thing to note: we’re not looking to remake Skate (2007), Skate 2, or Skate 3, so our focus is on the future, while bringing along the history of the franchise and things we all loved that got us to this point.[/p][p]We shared the roadmap a bit ago, but check it out if you need a refresher (and we’ll share an updated roadmap as we get closer to Season 3.)
We’re excited to launch Season 1 on October 7, 2025 (and drop game Update .28), and we’ll have more details on what’s coming for Season 1, what’s fixed and improved, and what’s next in the coming weeks. [/p]
Founder’s Packs
[p]Founders Packs are available in the in-game store and the skate. Shop.[/p][p]The Founder’s Packs come in two versions: Standard and Deluxe (you can upgrade the Standard to Deluxe if you want) and the Founder’s Packs are optional and not required to play. [/p]
Your Q’s, our A’s.
[p]Let’s dive in.[/p]
  • [p]What brand partners are in the game/coming soon?[/p]
    • [p]We’ve got Girl Skateboard, Chocolate skateboards, Thrasher, Royal Trucks, Vans, Dickies, & Dime, to start off, and in Season 1, we’ll be bringing Santa Cruz, Creature, and Independent to San Vansterdam, just to name a few. With every Season, we’ll be adding more Brand partners and cosmetics - so before a Season starts, we’ll share details on whose fits are coming to San Van. Stay tuned. [/p]
  • [p]What legacy modes are coming to skate.?[/p]
    • [p]Our plan is to continue adding more to do in San Van, including looking at how we can bring legacy game modes to the city. We’ll keep you posted on the progress and when you can expect them through our Seasonal patches. (Remember: our Seasonal updates will also bring Quality of Life fixes, bug fixes, and more features.) [/p]
  • [p]Can we get bigger Throwdown parties?[/p]
    • [p]How big do you want? We’re excited to keep iterating on throwdowns, creating a sesh anywhere in the city to show off your skills (or lack of skills). [/p]
  • [p]You said there are tricks coming in Season 3. Besides Darkslides and Impossibles, what other tricks from Skate 3 are coming and when?[/p]
    • [p]With skate, we resurrected Flick-It in the Frostbite engine and are bringing tricks from the Legacy titles to skate. Impossibles and Expanded Handplants coming in Season 2, with Darkslides and Improved Footplants/Boneless coming in Season 3. Ensuring solid gameplay is very important to us, so you can expect more past Season 3, but that’s all we’re talking about for now. Rest assured, there’s more to come. [/p]
  • [p]Will we ever have to pay for new tricks?[/p]
    • [p]No. You will never have to pay for new tricks. As we add new tricks to skate., you’ll have access to them as soon as they come to the game (update may be required), and they’ll become part of Challenges to help keep up your skill. Once added, a trick will never go away. [/p]
