Libritopia: Librarian Simulator News

1 Year of Libritopia! Happy Anniversary 🎂

[p]Hello, Librarians! 📚[/p][p][/p][p]Today, January 30th, 2026, Libritopia: Librarian Simulator celebrates one year since its Early Access launch 🎂. The project began as a first step — a strong desire to understand whether the idea of managing a library would truly work. Over the past year, that potential has been explored, refined, and expanded alongside you, with constant learning along the way.[/p][p][/p][p]Early Access is a journey of continuous evolution, and this first year was filled with testing, adjustments, and steady improvements. Some things worked right away, others took time, and many evolved directly thanks to the community’s honest feedback. Whether you’ve been here since day one or joined more recently, your participation helped turn Libritopia into a more complete, enjoyable, and carefully crafted experience.[/p][p][/p]
One Year of Evolution 📖
[p]A few days ago, we took a moment to look back at how much Libritopia has changed in just one year — and the difference is huge. Below, you’ll find before-and-after GIFs and images, showing how the game looked at launch compared to where it is today. A bit of nostalgia for those who’ve been following the project from the very beginning.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]From the start, we’ve valued every piece of feedback: comments, discussions, bug reports, and both positive and negative reviews. We read everything. We analyze everything. And most importantly, we act on it. We’d like to highlight some examples of features and improvements that came directly from what you asked for:[/p]
 • [p]Evolution of game modes – New ways to play, like Relax Mode (a pressure-free experience), along with ongoing refinements to Score Mode and Survival Mode throughout Early Access.[/p]
 • [p]Character customization (Avatars) – Create, save, and swap your avatar’s appearance throughout your journey.[/p]
 • [p]Increased NPC visual diversity – Visitors now come in a wider variety of looks, making the library feel more alive and less repetitive.[/p]
 • [p]Full library decoration system – Plants, rugs, paintings, colors, textures, and customization of shelves and interior spaces.[/p]
 • [p]Reading Zones – A new type of area with visitors who stay to read, requiring organization, silence, and a different gameplay rhythm.[/p]
 • [p]Improved animations – Characters now carry books in their hands, with more natural interactions (yes, the books finally stopped floating).[/p]
 • [p]Steam Achievements system – Achievements for both new and veteran librarians, celebrating different playstyles.[/p]
 • [p]Special events (Donation Day) – A dedicated book donation event with its own flow, player-driven choices, and impact on the collection.[/p]
 • [p]Library cards and reader history – Each visitor now has an identity, name, reading preferences, and borrowing history.[/p]
 • [p]Returns tied to the correct visitor – The same visitor who borrows a book is the one who returns it, creating more consistent interactions.[/p]
 • [p]Damaged books and repair system – Books can return damaged, affecting progression and requiring active maintenance.[/p]
 • [p]Requesting and reserving specific books – Order books by title, author, or genre, with slot and priority management.[/p]
 • [p]Office book storage – Office shelves allow managing books without displaying them in the main library.[/p]
 • [p]Rebalanced library expansions – New expansion options and smoother progression for growing libraries.[/p]
 • [p]Full keyboard and controller remapping – Including support for layouts like AZERTY and accessibility options.[/p]
 • [p]More robust save system – More frequent and reliable saves, now tied to your Steam account.[/p]
 • [p]Pacing and balance adjustments – Smoother progression, better-aligned book deliveries, and refined overall flow.[/p]
 • [p]Visual and lighting improvements – Updated global lighting, added shadows, and cozier environments.[/p]
 • [p]Numerous quality-of-life improvements – Interface tweaks, organization, visual feedback, and many small changes that greatly improved day-to-day play.[/p][p][/p]
[p]All of this makes Libritopia a very different game from that first test one year ago — and this is only a snapshot. Today’s Libritopia is the direct result of ongoing collaboration between the development team and the community.[/p][p][/p]
What’s Next? 👀
[p]Of course, we wouldn’t let a one-year anniversary post go by without a sneak peek 🌟[/p][p][/p][p]One of the most requested features since early development is finally coming: the Tablet. It will introduce a new user experience focused on faster interactions, better comfort, and quality-of-life improvements when managing your library. This is an important first step and the foundation for future evolutions.[/p][p][/p]
Anniversary Bundles 📦
[p]To celebrate this first year, we’re also launching special anniversary bundles! The Libritopia bundles with Book Bound and Capote are now available on Steam. If you don’t own Libritopia yet — or if a friend has been waiting for the right moment — this is the perfect opportunity to jump in and enjoy hours of fun with more than one game at a great price.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink] Once again, thank you so much for being part of this journey. The support, patience, and care from the community are what keep Libritopia growing. We’ll continue listening, improving, and developing the game alongside you. We’re not quite ready to launch version 1.0 yet, but we’re getting closer — and even after the official 1.0 release, Libritopia will continue receiving updates.
[/p][p]If you’re not part of the community yet, join us on Discord, follow us on social media, and keep sharing your ideas for the game. They truly make a difference and help shape the future of Libritopia.
[/p][p]Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️📚[/p]

THE LATE RETURNING DAMAGED BOOKS AND LIBRARY CARDS MAJOR UPDATE

[p]📢 LIBRARIANS… THIS IS IT. This is not a small tweak. This is not “just another patch”. [/p][p][/p][p]THIS. IS. A. MAJOR. UPDATE. 🚨📚✨[/p][p][/p][p]The “THE LATE RETURNING DAMAGED BOOKS AND LIBRARY CARDS MAJOR UPDATE” is here!!! And it completely changes how your Library feels, how it works, and how much it demands from you as a Librarian. [/p][p][/p][p]Visitors are no longer just visitors. Books are no longer just books. And your decisions? They MATTER. 💥📖 [/p][p][/p][p]✨ Every visitor now has a face, a name, and a story. They register. They come back. They remember what they like and what they don’t. Sometimes they’ll even ask for your help. Your Library is officially full of real people, not just NPCs passing by. 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️📇[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]📦 Books now live real lives. They get borrowed. They have due dates. They can come back late. They can come back damaged. And if you’re not paying attention? Your entire Library will feel the consequences. 📆⚠️ [/p][p][/p][p]🛠️ Yes! Books can break now. Inspect returns. Spot damage. Send books to repair. Ignore them, and your progression slows down. Being a Librarian just became a LOT more serious. 👀📚[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]📚 Want control? You’ve got it. Order books after hours. Pick exact titles, authors, or genres. Manage limited order slots. Order duplicates if you want. This is the first time your collection truly reflects your choices. 🖥️📦 [/p][p]📌 Clients can now request specific books. Don’t have it? No problem! Create a request, track it, and call them back when it arrives. The Library now remembers promises… and expects you to keep them. ☎️📖 [/p][p]And that’s not all… 👀✨ [/p][p]From a brand-new Book Return flow to labeled pallets showing exactly where books came from, this update is packed with system upgrades, management depth, and immersion improvements across the entire Library. [/p][p](there's so much to write that my hand hurts from doing so much 😱) [/p][p]This isn’t just more content. This is Libritopia leveling up. This is the Librarian experience getting deeper, smarter, and more alive than ever. 💛📚[/p][p]Welcome to THE LATE RETURNING DAMAGED BOOKS AND LIBRARY CARDS MAJOR UPDATE! (yeah! that's correct, that's the name of the update.) [/p][p]Your Library will never be the same again.[/p][p][/p][p]Let's read the full changelog for more details on this incredible update to close out the year in style 😎👇 [/p]
📕 Major Changes
1. [p]PLEASED TO MEET YOU: Every client will now have their own card when visiting the Library. They will automatically register using the new Registration Totem and will sometimes ask for help. With this change, each patron will have their own name, appearance, and a record of the types of books they prefer. [/p]
 2. [p]WELCOME BACK DEAR VISITOR: The new Book Return Screen is similar to the Checkout. Librarians must search for the book in a list and match the information with the client that’s returning it.[/p][p][/p]
 3. [p]BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: Every checked out book has a due date. Some clients will return their books after this date, so it is the Librarian’s job to notice and flag it before confirming the return. [/p]
 4. [p]BOOKS AREN'T INVINCIBLE: After a certain day, books may be returned or delivered in a damaged state. During the return process at the Return Counter they can be inspected, and it is the Librarian’s responsibility to report any damage found. If damaged books remain in the Library, they will gradually slow its progression. To avoid this, Librarians should send these books for Repair.[/p][p][/p]
 5. [p]GET THEM ALL: While playing, Librarians will unlock a new app that allows them to order specific books after the Library closes. These book orders have limited slots that increase over time. Ordering a book by title takes more slots than ordering by author or genre. When not ordering by title, Librarians will receive random books based on their selection. Beyond that, Librarians are free to order any books they want, even multiple copies of the same one. [/p]
 6. [p]PLACE A HOLD ON THAT: Occasionally, clients may ask for a specific book that, after checking the database, is confirmed to not be in the Library. When this happens, Librarians can create a request for that book by sending the client away. Once the Librarian obtains the requested book, they can call the client back using the new Request app in the office computer. Keep in mind that there is a limited number of request slots available.[/p][p][/p]
 7. [p]SO THAT'S WHERE THIS BOOK CAME FROM: Added different pallets outside the Library, each one labeled so the Librarian can tell where arriving books came from. [/p]
📘Minor Changes
[p]● Updated the Library Database App with information about clients and their preferences.[/p][p]● Added a list of Currently Loaned Books to the Library database.[/p][p]● Now the number of books and clients are explicit in the office computer.[/p][p]● Adjusted Book Arrival to accommodate the new Book Return system.[/p][p]● To avoid overwhelming Librarians, excess returned books will arrive in the Book Return pallet.[/p][p][/p][p]🔥 And there’s no better time than now: Libritopia is at its LOWEST PRICE EVER in the Steam Winter Sale. Your dream of becoming a Librarian is CLOSER THAN EVER. [/p][p] Buy Now! And Happy Holidays✨

Introducing... THE DONATION DAY UPDATE 📚🔖

[p]📢 Librarians, get ready for a special community moment! 📚✨[/p][p]The Donation Day Update has arrived, bringing a brand-new event that transforms how your Library handles books that deserve a second life![/p][p]On Donation Day, your Library closes its doors to prepare for something meaningful. Set up new donation stands in the parking lot, place your selected books, and get ready as visitors line up outside, eager to browse and find their next favorite read! 📕🏷️[/p][p]During the event, each visitor will tell you what genres they enjoy (and which ones they avoid!). Use the new Indicate Shelf action to guide them to the perfect spot. Once a book is taken, it’s gone for good. It leaves your shelves to start a new chapter somewhere else. Every story finds a new home. 💛📦[/p][p]But that’s not all…[/p][p]We’ve added a glass entrance door that stays locked during Donation Day for full immersion, plus a new keybind for the Indicate Shelf action to keep things fast and intuitive. 🏛️🔁[/p][p]We also worked on stability and controls:[/p]
 1. [p]Controller keybinds now overwrite correctly[/p]
 2. [p]Controller inputs fixed on several UI screens[/p]
 3. [p]Fixed an issue where the game failed to start properly after “save and quit”[/p]
 4. [p]And for AMD users: new driver updates may resolve the rendering issues affecting Libritopia. Check our Discord for the full guidance![/p]
[p]📄 Check the complete patch notes for exact adjustments and fixes![/p][p]And remember: your feedback shapes Libritopia. Join our official Discord and tell us what you think. We’re listening! 📬💬

📕 MAJOR UPDATES:

● A new event begins! : Libraries need books, but not every book will be borrowed. To give books a new life, librarians can schedule a new type of event: Donation Day. On the day of the event, the library will be closed, and librarians must focus on selecting books and organizing them on new stands in the library parking lot while visitors line up, waiting for the event to begin. During the event, visitors will share the kinds of books they love (and the ones they don’t). With this information, librarians must use the new action of ‘indicating a shelf’ so that the visitor can go to the shelf that best suits their taste. Keep in mind that books donated during Donation Day will not return to the library. Even though eventually a particular title could be seen again at Book Arrivals, visitors won’t return the books taken on Donation Day. Each one finds a new home, ensuring that every story continues beyond your shelves. We hope donating unused or unwanted books helps librarians build their dream library. More features are on the way to make this vision a reality. Don’t forget to give feedback in our official Discord!

📙 MINOR UPDATES:

● Added a glass door to the library entrance. It remains closed during Donation Day.

● Added a new keybind for the “Indicate Shelf” action.

📘 BUG FIXES AND ADJUSTMENTS:

● AMD has released a new driver that sometimes fixes the graphical errors that renders Libritopia (and many other games) unplayable. We shared a new strategy for this on our Discord. If you use AMD processors and graphics, please update the drivers or go to our Discord to read more.

● Fixed incorrect keybinds not being overwritten on the controller.

● Fixed controllers input not working correctly on some screen interfaces.

● Fixed a bug where the game wouldn’t start correctly after a ‘save and quit’ from the game and then quitting again from the menu.[/p]
