Day 2 Patch - Further Improvements

[p]Thank you everybody for your support and suggestions! I’ve been fixing bugs non-stop so here is an update. Will be heading to sleep but keep the reports coming![/p][p]
[/p]
Bug Fixes
• [p]Defeated world map zombie hordes should now always open new locations.[/p]
 • [p]Stackable items will now stack when purchased and delivered from World Map shops.[/p]
 • [p]Workers and customers will no longer take damage from Barbed Wire or Spiked Walls.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed an issue causing health to be capped at 100 when sleeping.[/p]
 • [p]Fixed permanent max HP loss after using the blood station after sleeping.[/p]
 • [p]Level 3 Service workers will no longer endlessly place incompatible containers on the sturdy basket stand.[/p]
[p]
[/p][p]Many of you have also been mentioning issues with Cleaners, Security and achievements.
I’m currently focusing on game breaking issues, with some quick easy fixes when I can. Afterwards, I’ll be tackling these issues with the NPCs and consider some redesign/polish on how they work.[/p][p]Achievements were something that didn’t make it for 1.0 and I published them on the store by mistake. The game doesn’t support achievements yet! Make sure you are on 1.0.4 for these changes (Sometimes a steam log out, log in is required to get update)

Loving some of your shops posted on the Discord:

Thanks all!
Adam ❤️[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p]

Thank you for the amazing day one... Also some issues, here is an update!

[p]A patch (v1.0.2) with a temporary fix for certain issues such as reputation loss that is ruining your playthrough has been pushed. I encourage everyone with issues to join our discord https://discord.gg/BBKeY9TfvX to send their reports to make sure I can get rid of these bugs faster. Customers should now be able to purchase more than one item from their cardboard boxes and I’ve tuned the customer spawn rate down slightly with high reputation.
[/p][p]Overall I am really happy with one main thing, players find the game very fun overall. It was a blast seeing how far people managed to get in just the first day, how tidy vs how messy some shops were. Reminder it’s just me fixing the issues, but hopefully in a week's time most major issues will be solved. [/p][p]
Here are a couple of my favorite shops so far from the Discord:

[/p][p]Thank you all for such a fun launch so far, [/p][p]Adam ❤️

UPDATE:

An issue with Build Mode was preventing securing floor shelves in v1.0.2 - this has been fixed in v1.0.3. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p]

Meet New 'Friends' in The Walking Trade!

[p]I can’t believe we’re officially less than a week away from The Walking Trade’s launch on the 5th March! It feels like it's taken forever but at the same time feels like yesterday I was first programming the prototype.[/p][p][/p][p]Today I’d like to go over a couple of brand new features coming at launch in the form of new characters and events. First up, from an unknown land, presumably far from our shop, the Exotic Merchant.[/p][p][/p]
Exotic Merchant
[p][/p][p][/p][p]Every so often, you’re going to see this strange man belly dancing around some of the best loot available in the game. How did he obtain this stuff? No need to question it. From weapons to tools to ammo to sleeping bags, he sells it at a reasonable price. If you see him parked outside on the road, be sure to pop him a visit as his stock does change slightly each time he comes. One thing to note: he’s extremely touchy when it comes to threats. Should he take any damage from anything, he’ll drive off immediately for that day.[/p][p][/p]
Dr. Gib
[p][/p][p]Another outcast with a sketchy line of work, but unlike the Exotic Merchant meeting Dr. Gib is going to take a little more effort. Dr. Gib will only appear once you’ve managed to open the warehouse backdoor somehow. He’s a pretty chill dude who wants ‘Good Meat’ for unknown reasons, in exchange he’ll let you play his wheel of fortune mini-game. Whatever his wheel lands on is yours. The wheel’s prizes are different each day and will often feature Scarce and Limited items! If you’ve recently been on a killing spree, it would be wise to put those dead bodies to some good use.
[/p][p]Without spoiling any more, there are other characters you will encounter throughout your days running the shop - but to find those you’ll need to get running your shop.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Thank you so much for reading - see you all March 5th!

New Settings, Cleaners and Break-Ins!

[p]When I released the demo back in October’s Steam Next Fest I received lots of useful feedback surrounding the general balancing of the game and how many people have vastly different expectations on the experience they wanted. Some players really loved the stressful danger of frequent zombies’ attacks, some felt it was too common for a ‘simulator-esque’ game. Today I’d like to discuss the new settings available in The Walking Trade’s full version.
[/p]
New Game Settings
[p]When starting a new save in The Walking Trade you’ll be given some options for how you’d like the game to feel. The first option is Hardcore Mode. When Hardcore Mode is active, you only get one life – and upon death, your save is not longer playable. This one’s definitely not for the chill-seekers. Hardcore Mode has fixed settings to unify what a hardcore save is.[/p][p]If you decide Hardcore is not for you, you can tweak any of the following settings at the before you create your save or change them at any time in game too.
[/p][p]Freeze Time When Store Is Closed – if you’re feeling rushed off your feet at the start or end of a shift, you can completely freeze the time when your store is closed. Freezing time was commonly requested but I felt that freezing time fully unrestricted (while being able to serve customers) would be far too overpowered.[/p][p]Day Speed – a multiplier for how fast time moves in-game. Ranges from x0.25 – x1.5.[/p][p]Zombie Spawn Rate – a multiplier for how many and how often zombies can spawn. This does not affect raids, only the normal day zombies. Ranges from x0.25 – x1.5.[/p][p]Skip Introduction – this option becomes available after you’ve completed the first day on your first save. When active, the player will start the first day with the opening tutorial complete (shop clean, shelves stacked etc.).[/p][p][/p]
Clean-up Crew
[p]Another largely requested feature was being able to hire cleaners to keep your store and car-park squeaky clean and organised. After unlocking some Management skills, you’ll now be able to hire cleaners.[/p][p]Placing rope on a rope-exclusive shelf.
[/p][p]Placing a weapon on the mixed weapon rack.[/p][p][/p][p]Once a cleaner reaches Cleaner ⭐⭐⭐, they will be able to loot and dispose of corpses in the nearby skip. Super handy for preserving your store’s reputation.[/p][p]The cleaner worker disposing of a corpse after automatically looting it.[/p][p][/p]
Breaking and Entering!
[p]A common tactic in the demo during the zombie raids was to close the door, have a pint, and wait for everything to blow over by cheesing the entire fight killing mobs through the safety of the window. This felt good for the chill audience but ultimately breaks a core pillar of the game’s design. Zombies can now destroy the front door leaving you and your store vulnerable. If you really do not want to participate in the onslaught, you can now close the bedroom door, allowing immunity, but you cannot defeat enemies from there (unless you have remote detonations, but that’s a topic for another day!).[/p][p][/p][p]The zombie horde have broken through the door![/p][p][/p][p]Hopefully you like what I’ve been cooking. I’m really excited for launch and I’m really looking forward to you guys getting to try out these new features for yourself on March 5th!
