šŸ’ø SUPER DEBT is Coming to Kickstarter! šŸ’ø

[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Hi everyone![/p][p][/p][p]I've been working on SUPER DEBT! for almost a year now. I've gotten this far by doing things frugally and alone, but I'd love to hire some friends to help me make the game bigger, better, and faster! I'm very grateful for Garbanzo Quest performing well enough to pay my own bills, but if I want to hire help I'll need to raise some cash! So I'll be launching a Kickstarter later this month, January 27th, to do just that![/p][p][/p][p]šŸ’ø Please follow the campaign to be notified when it launches! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/superdebt/super-debt[/p][p][/p][p]If you can't afford to back the game, but still want to help there are plenty of other ways to do so! Wishlisting SUPER DEBT!, or sharing the Kickstarter campaign with your rich and very generous friend are both great ideas! šŸ’ø[/p][p][/p][p]Anyways, thanks for reading! šŸ’–[/p][p][/p][p]-Zachary[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

v0.6.1 Demo out now!

[p]Howdy![/p][p][/p][p]It's been 5 months since the demo was updated last. The game has grown quite a lot since then! [/p][p]This build contains a ton of new stuff and polish on pretty much everything in the game.[/p][p][/p][p]World 1 now has a total of 160 possible rooms to draw from. That's up from 100 total rooms in the last demo. I've also added two new bosses to the end of the demo, for a total of 3. One of these 3 will be picked from randomly at the end of every run. I'm a little worried this might be too much stuff for a demo, but oh well. I really wanna show off all the cool stuff I've made![/p][p][/p][p]I've also overhauled the meta-progression stuff. Before there were two main currencies: Crypto and Cash. Crypto was used for the before mentioned meta-progression stuff like buying new weapons and items. While Cash was used for moment to moment action like health and ammo. Well now those two things have been combined! The key is that you can now store your money in two places, your wallet or the bank. This should encourage some new interesting decisions! Do you withdraw a bunch of cash to increase your odds this run? Or do you stash what you can so you can get that cool new weapon? I think this small yet really influential change will encourage you to think about money more (which is kind of the theme of the game haha).[/p][p][/p][p]I've also spent a lot of time polishing up the visuals of the game! A lot of work has gone into improving appeal and visual clarity. Characters and bullets contrast more with the background now. Characters tend to be red and everything else tends to be a dark desaturated green. I've also updated the lighting system to look better and to support colored lights. I've also fussed with the trippy background shaders seen throughout the game, they should be more consistent and just look better now.[/p][p][/p][p]If you're eager to see what's currently implemented for the rest of the game, or if you just wanna support development, I have a Patreon that you can chip in to if you'd like.[/p][p][/p][p]https://www.patreon.com/c/zachisagardner[/p][p][/p][p]Anyways, see below for the full change notes of the demo. As always, thanks for playing! If you have the time leaving a review/feedback is always super helpful! I want Super Debt to be the best it can be.[/p][p][/p][p]-Zachary[/p][p][/p]
BIG CHANGES
[p]REVAMPED DEBT MECHANICS[/p]
  • [p]Combined crypto and normal money into one thing.[/p]
  • [p]ATMs allow you to withdraw or deposit money at Home and at Rest Areas.[/p]
  • [p]Your goal is to balance between having enough cash on you to survive runs while still making progress on your growing debt.[/p]
  • [p]You can no longer go into debt purchasing most things[/p]
[p]REST AREAS[/p]
  • [p]Rest Areas are found randomly during runs.[/p]
  • [p]Rest Areas have vending machines that allow you to gamble, switch weapons, win a module, or send modules home for later. What vending machines are available are random.[/p]
  • [p]You'll also be able to meet random NPCs in Rest Areas (there's only one basic encounter so far haha)[/p]
[p]TUTORIAL[/p]
  • [p]The tutorial presentation has been improved. (There's a goofy guy now.)[/p]
  • [p]It also covers new money stuff.[/p]
[p]BOUNTIES[/p]
  • [p]These are kind of like achievements. They unlock new weapons or give you cash prizes. You can find available bounties in the pause menu.[/p]
[p]BETTER VISUALS[/p]
  • [p]Lots of visual improvements have been made to give the game more appeal and to aid visual clarity.[/p]
  • [p]Characters and bullets contrast more with the background (characters tend to be red and everything else tends to be a dark desaturated green).[/p]
  • [p]Enemies disintegrate when defeated.[/p]
  • [p]Added more cool shaders and polish on old ones.[/p]
  • [p]New lighting system that allows for colored and better looking lights. There's still some issues with "halo-ing" that I haven't figured out yet...[/p]
  • [p]Menus have more sauce. Added a new blur shader.[/p]
[p]BETTER CO-OP[/p]
  • [p]New Player Two sprite[/p]
  • [p]Ghost Player is faster and can hurt enemies a little by screaming on them. Also slightly updated sprite.[/p]
  • [p]Player who receives money from an enemy kill is now whoever has less Money, instead of always going to whoever is closer[/p]
  • [p]Added an option to Share Money/ Use one wallet in Two Player Mode[/p]
  • [p]Fixed lots of jank situations exclusive to Two Player Mode[/p]
[p]CONTENT[/p]
  • [p]60 new rooms[/p]
  • [p]2 new bosses (3 total)[/p]
[p]MISC.[/p]
  • [p]Floors can now have multiple exits. The type of floor an exit leads to is displayed on the exit.[/p]
BALANCING
• [p]Lots of misc. balances to weapons and enemies.[/p]
  • [p]You can finally collect money while falling through exits.[/p]
  • [p]Less sawblades in general, for example little flys no longer spawn sawblades on death. You're welcome.[/p]
[p]DEVIL DECK[/p]
  • [p]Dead cards now deal damage equal to their rank instead of always just one (cycling through bad hands should be less punishing).[/p]
[p]SHACKLE THE SHAMEFUL[/p]
  • [p]Holding both accelerate and brake at the same time for 2 seconds will dismiss the weapon for 8 seconds. Costs $20.00.[/p]
  • [p]Slowed down base speed.[/p]
  • [p]Buffed braking strength.[/p]
[p]MISC.[/p]
  • [p]Deflect moves (baseball bat) will now have a very short cooldown when deflecting bullets. While in effect, bullets will be destroyed instead of deflected. Before you could pretty much kill certain enemies in one hit if you deflected their move at the right time.[/p]
[p]BODY GUARD JR.[/p]
  • [p]No longer misbehaves, but shoots a little slower.[/p]
MODULE MODE
• [p]Everything that costed Crypto now just costs regular money.[/p]
  • [p]Module Mode is now accessed via an optional machine at Home.[/p]
  • [p]Buying crypto rocks will increase "Inflation". Inflation goes down a little with every floor you survive in a run. Inflation increases the price of most things.[/p]
    • [p]Indictments also increase Inflation[/p]
  • [p]You can now sell items with what was once the trash.[/p]
  • [p]Items can be placed closer together[/p]
  • [p]Egg Person is smarter, more helpful, and more beautiful now.[/p]
    • [p]If there's a recipe in an assembler they can help with, they will deliver the necessary ingredients for you (even if they're in storage).[/p]
    • [p]Egg Person comes in three styles now: slime, cat, and dog. This, along with their color, will be picked at random when hatching from the egg. If you don't like the Egg Person you get you can murder them with the trash (you bastard).[/p]
  • [p]Added another song (4 in total)[/p]
  • [p]Lots of new sfx[/p]
MISC.
• [p]Cool loading screen on booting game.[/p]
  • [p]Converted all .wavs to .oggs (download is 90% smaller rofl)[/p]
  • [p]Can fast forward through falling and boot screens[/p]
  • [p]Boot screen stops appearing after your 2nd win or loss[/p]
  • [p]Lots of new sfx[/p]

v0.3.1 is out now!

Howdy!

I've updated the demo with some exciting new stuff! All these new changes and additions should help make the game feel more full and provide some variety!

There's now ~70 rooms in the Demo. A random selection of ~30 will be chosen for every run. This should help make different runs feel more unique! I've more planned more planned of course, but all in good time.

I also added some new "verification" minigames that you'll randomly find in the game. This will be another chance to make some extra cash to make it to the end. I might change how these are encountered in the future, but for now you'll just encounter them randomly when going between rooms. At first I was trying to riff off those "prove you're human" interactive things websites make you do, but they pretty much just turned into weird wario-ware minigames haha.

There's also a new Module Builder mode you can play inbetween runs. This is a chance to have some downtime between all the action and to prepare for future runs by building Modules. This is probably the most exciting change, I think it really helps with the pacing. This is another thing I'm looking forward to expanding in the future.

I'm cutting off the Demo for now after you beat the first boss in World 1, if you wanna check out the rest of the game I'm doing Early Access builds through my Patreon. I'd say the demo roughly covers a little less than half of the content in the game? If you'd like to support development and check out some stuff early please consider becoming a Patron today! šŸ’–šŸ¤

There's plenty of other new stuff in the demo I haven't mentioned here, so please see for yourself! I think the game is growing rather quickly and is already way better than what I had for Next Fest. I'm excited to keep workin' on the game and to see where it goes!

Anyways, thanks for playing!

Steam Deck Friendly? Yeah!!!

Super Debt runs great on the Steam Deck!

In addition to my own testing, I've heard from other Steam Deck users that they've experienced no problems with the game.

Thanks for playing!
