Total War: Shogun 2 Game Update

We've released a game update for Total War: Shogun 2 which includes,

↗️ Compiler upgrade - This is an update for the game to better use modern architecture and improve performance.
🖥️ Fixed game crashing when running on CPUs with more than 32 logical processors

Alongside this, as the current chat systems in our game are both antiquated and limited in the modern online era, it is necessary for us to remove those services from Total War: SHOGUN 2 and our other legacy titles. We are, however, continuing to investigate ways to implement and support chat in our future projects properly and will keep you updated on any future changes or developments.

Thanks for your understanding; if you're looking for a free chat option, you can also visit the official Total War Discord server to chat with your friends.

Eight years later, Total War: Shogun 2 is getting a new map

The distant past of 2011 marked the start of a new beginning for Total War games as it was the year we were treated to the release of Shogun 2: Total War (as it was known at the time). Focusing on feudal Japan during the Sengoku period, it was the sequel to the iconic game that started the whole series, and it also represented a much needed return to form after the rocky periods of Empire & Napoleon: Total War before it.

Today, eight years after Shogun 2 received its last major patches & DLC, Creative Assembly is releasing a new map for everyone's favourite samurai game.

Ok, technically it's an old map - the Battle of Kawagoe was a bonus scenario anyone who pre-ordered the game via GameStop was given as an incentive back in 2011. It depicts a battle fought at the end of the Siege of Kawagoe Castle, which took place in 1546-46. The Hojo clan launched a successful night time counterattack against the besieging Uesugi clan, timing their attack with the arrival of reinforcements.
