Eastern Era” Makes Its Debut at the Steam Next Fest!

[p]Dear players,[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you all for your continued support and attention!
We’re thrilled to announce that “Eastern Era” will officially take part in the Steam Next Fest from October 13th to October 20th!
During the event, we warmly invite all new and returning sect leaders to join the demo — to establish your sect, train your disciples, and embark on a brand-new martial journey across the Eastern lands![/p][p][/p]

[p][/p][p]🏯 Demo Overview[/p]
 • [p]Unlimited playtime: Enjoy the demo freely throughout the 7-day Next Fest — no time limit, play as long as you wish.[/p]
 • [p]Around 20% of total content unlocked: Experience nearly half of the core gameplay and explore the foundation of our vast, seamless open world.[/p]

[p][/p][p]⚔️ What You Can Experience in the Demo[/p][p]This demo offers around two hours of content, allowing you to:
✨ Experience the main early-game flow of founding your sect.
✨ Defend against bandit invasions — or strike back by destroying their camps.
✨ Explore ancient ruins and uncover long-lost martial arts.
✨ Cultivate inner power and master over ten different martial disciplines with your disciples.[/p][p][/p]

[p][/p][p]🛠️ About This Demo[/p][p]For this demo, the full sect management features are temporarily disabled, as we want your first true sect-building experience in the official release to feel complete — with rival factions, trade, diplomacy, and even... “recruiting” talented disciples from other sects (you know what we mean 😉).
We’re reserving these systems to ensure the world of Eastern Era feels alive and interconnected when it officially launches.[/p][p][/p]

[p][/p][p]🌿What’s Available Now[/p][p]Don’t worry — we’ve prepared plenty of content for you to enjoy during the demo:
✅ Cultivate and master various martial arts and inner skills.
✅ Build structures, place decorations, and grow bonsai to shape your sect’s environment.[/p][p]To bring the game to more players, we're currently using AI for translations in several languages. We know it might not be perfect, so if you find the quality lacking, please switch back to English for a smoother experience. If you're enjoying your time with the game, we'd be incredibly grateful if you could add it to your wishlist. Seeing strong wishlist support from a particular language community is the clearest sign for us to invest in a professional, high-quality translation for you before our full launch. Thank you for your support![/p][p][/p]

[p]Note: Some language versions (Korean, Russian, German, and French) currently use AI-generated translations.
If more players from these regions add the game to their wishlist, we’ll commission professional localization to provide a higher-quality experience.
[/p][p][/p][p]— The “Eastern Era” Development Team
[/p]

[p] [/p][p]1. Vast Seamless World · Free Exploration[/p][p]Roam freely across a boundless martial world — mountains, valleys, ruins, and lakes form a complete living ecosystem.
Experience ever-changing environments shaped by seasons, weather, and time of day: rivers rise and fall, wild beasts lurk in the grass, and storms roll across the land.
The world is not just scenery — it affects your disciples’ stamina and mood, making every journey full of uncertainty and challenge.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

[p]2. Free Construction · Sandbox Management[/p][p]Start from the wilds: gather wood and stone, hunt wild animals, and build your first simple camp.
As your disciples and resources grow, you can freely design the layout of your sect — from humble huts to grand martial halls, built brick by brick with your own hands.
No preset answers, no fixed path — just your choices, your creativity, and the story you build.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]3. Dynamic Weather · Extreme Survival[/p][p]A fully dynamic weather and seasonal system shapes your survival and strategy.
Blizzards block resource gathering, scorching heat drains stamina, rainstorms cause floods, and lightning can even strike your buildings.
Every shift in weather brings both risk and opportunity — testing your ability to adapt, plan, and endure.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

[p]4. Character Growth · Battle the Bandits[/p][p]Your disciples grow stronger through cultivation and training.
Equip them with martial skills to defend your camp from raiders — and when ready, lead them on the offensive to wipe out the bandit strongholds that threaten your sect.
Combat and cultivation are closely linked — every disciple has the potential to become a vital force in your rise to power.[/p][p][/p][p]💬 A Kind Reminder[/p][p]As Eastern Era is still under development, the demo version may contain bugs, placeholder content, or incomplete translations. Eastern Era ┃ September Team Report

[p]Hello, Dear player ![/p][p]
Time flies—it’s already the end of the month, and our September Team Report is here![/p][p]Eastern Era has now entered the final sprint. These past weeks, the whole team has been working nonstop—coding, modeling, polishing, fixing bugs—over and over again, all with one single goal: to deliver a unique martial arts world to you at the October 13th Steam Next Fest.[/p][p]It’s been exhausting, but knowing that you’ll soon get to experience it firsthand makes everything worth it.
Whether you’re here because you love the wuxia genre or simply out of curiosity, your support reminds us that all this hard work is never lonely.[/p][p]Hopefully, the next time we meet, it’ll be within the rivers and lakes of the jianghu.
See you at the Next Fest![/p][p][/p][p]The Eastern Era Dev Team[/p]

What did we focus on in September?
[p][/p][p]1. Added several exquisite costumes[/p][p][/p][p]We've added several new costumes in various styles, ranging from simple refugee clothing and practical farming gear to luxurious clan ceremonial attire. We've also implemented custom outfits for each section (tops, bottoms, capes, hats, belts, shoes, and pendants).[/p][p][/p][p]Some outfits offer minor attribute bonuses (such as cold protection, a small amount of stamina, or speed bonuses), focusing more on appearance and identity. Accessibility options include initial acquisition, exploration drops, and battle acquisition. Limited-time events and collaboration costumes will also be available in the future. We've also optimized outfit transitions and display animations, as well as the level of detail (LOD) for clothing.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]2. Added Multiple Technology Tabs[/p][p][/p][p]This month, we've expanded the tech tree with multiple new branches covering agriculture, construction, forging, mechanical modification, storage, and more! Each technology has clear prerequisites and resource costs, and unlocking them brings immediate tangible benefits: mastering "Metal Smelting" unlocks stone quarrying techniques and enables crafting basic disciple weapons; unlocking "Tailoring" provides access to basic sewing stations, allowing disciples to move beyond clothing shortages; researching "Dining Halls & Food Stalls" adds tables, chairs, and other facilities, giving disciples the chance to enjoy delicious meals after training. More exciting content awaits your discovery![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]3. New Martial Arts System, Supernatural Jiangshi Invasion[/p][p][/p][p]A comprehensive martial arts system has been added: including basic moves, passive mental methods, combos, and unique skills. Disciples can master them through studying classics or practicing in martial arts scenes. We've also optimized the visual effects and transition animations of the moves, making combat smoother and more impressive. Meanwhile, a supernatural Jiangshi invasion is imminent. While building your sect, you must remain vigilant, deploy defenses, and lead your disciples to resist the zombie tide and protect the safety of your sect![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]4. Optimizing Scene Visuals[/p][p][/p][p]This month, we focused on improving scene rendering quality and atmosphere: including improved global illumination and dynamic shadows, volumetric fog/weather particles (rain, snow, and dust), wetland reflection and water surface ripple shaders, vegetation wind and detail maps, and adjustments to day and night color grading. We also optimized distant LODs, occlusion culling, and texture streaming, balancing image quality and frame rate. Finally, we reworked the lighting and textures of key landmarks (such as the ruins of Wangyue Peak and the Qingyun Hall) to enhance their narrative quality.
[/p][p][/p][p]5. Hundreds of Known Bug Fixes[/p][p]In September, we conducted a large-scale round of fixes, including but not limited to: crash and memory leak fixes, AI pathfinding freezes, missing quest trigger conditions, save game compatibility issues, UI/localization misalignment, item stacking/recipe anomalies, animation clipping, and hitbox errors. Some critical quests that previously caused process blockages have now been fixed. To ensure quality, we implemented regression testing and automated script checking for key scenarios and strengthened our reporting channels and internal issue tracking procedures. We are very grateful to the community creators for providing us with extensive tracking information; this information has effectively fixed issues in the current version and improved the gaming experience.[/p][p][/p]

[p]🎬 Behind the Scenes[/p][p]With the October 13th New Product Festival launch drawing ever closer, I'd like to take you inside our studio to see how this 3D martial arts simulation business game came to life.[/p][p]🧠 The Original Concept[/p][p]"Eastern Era" was inspired by our love for traditional martial arts culture and our passion for business simulation gameplay. We hope to create a game world where you can experience the grudges of the Jianghu and manage your clan.[/p][p][/p]

[p]👨‍💻 Team Composition[/p][p]Our team consists of programmers, planners, artists, and sound designers, all of whom are passionate about the game. On a daily basis, we not only discuss technical details but also stimulate each other's creativity to ensure every system is flawless.[/p][p][/p][p]🛠️ Anecdotes from the Development Process[/p][p]Every martial arts move undergoes repeated testing and optimization. Programmers and animators fine-tune frame rate, collision, and smoothness to ensure smooth operation. Even when staring at the screen for long periods, team members are always there to guide and adjust details to ensure the moves are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.[/p][p]The debugging of lighting, weather, and night effects requires continuous testing across different time periods and environmental conditions. The color, shadows, and physics of each frame are repeatedly compared to ensure the most realistic Jianghu environment.[/p][p]Every system, including disciple AI, enemy AI, and resource collection logic, undergoes rigorous testing and refinement. The team repeatedly simulated extreme scenarios to ensure the game system remained stable and reliable even in complex maps and multi-mission scenarios.[/p][p]The physics of clothing fabrics and character equipment were meticulously optimized to ensure consistent movement and visuals. Even the slightest sway was meticulously crafted to embody realistic motion and the aesthetics of martial arts.[/p][p]The team held daily morning meetings to set goals for the day and focus on key feature implementation plans. In the afternoons and during overtime, everyone remained highly focused, discussing, debugging, and documenting issues and optimization plans.[/p][p]Despite the tense atmosphere, every adjustment, fix, and optimization brought a sense of accomplishment to the team members, as each improvement directly impacted the player experience.[/p][p][/p]

Eastern Era | August Progress Update!

[p]Dear players, autumn has arrived, and our sect is becoming increasingly bustling. The Sect Master sits alone, savoring the fragrance of tea, while disciples gather to practice their skills.[/p][p]The cool autumn breeze sobers us up, and swords hang from tree branches like wind chimes.[/p][p]We're here to report on our recent progress, and we welcome your guidance![/p][p][/p]
UI Redesign and Optimization

[p]During the previous online livestream, we received a lot of feedback about the complex and awkward UI layout. We've gathered your feedback and referenced the UI layouts of excellent games to redesign and optimize the UI's style and layout, making it simpler and more intuitive, and more tailored to your experience.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Brand-New Face-Changing Gameplay Features

[p]Our face-changing system strives for ultimate freedom: facial features, bone structure, skin tone, and hairstyle are all adjustable to your heart's content. Whether you're a stern-eyed hero, a sinister and menacing villain, or a simple-minded underworld pawn, you can sculpt your own character.[/p][p]Beyond basic facial adjustments, we've also incorporated unique elements of ancientoriental culture for you to experience.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Maps, a Different Experience.

[p]In these maps, you'll encounter diverse Jianghu scenes and unpredictable enemies, facing unique challenges and choices.[/p][p]In these maps, you'll encounter diverse Jianghu scenes and unpredictable enemies, facing unique challenges and choices.[/p]
 • [p]Qingwusen — A vast sea of forests and lush green mountains, perpetually shrouded in a pale blue mist, making walking through it feel like entering a dream.[/p]
 • [p]Juechenlan — Peaks stand face to face, the canyon is bottomless, the wind howls, the scenery is isolated and cold.[/p]
 • [p]Liying Valley — A shrouded in shadow, a dreamlike interplay of light and shadow, strange rocks stand like ghosts, and the grass and trees whisper incessantly.[/p]
 • [p]Luoxiawu — The afterglow is like a brocade, the forests are dyed in a vibrant color, and the lake reflects the colors. This place is tranquil, yet it seems to conceal unfinished stories from the Jianghu past.[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p]
Brand-New Buildings and Gameplay

[p]Previously, we mentioned that in the sect, not only can disciples practice martial arts and swordsmanship, but gear guardians also stand watch. Yet when facing powerful enemies, that alone might not be enough. So we’re introducing the brand-new Mechanism Platform—a system that allows you to freely customize and upgrade your gear guardians! Every component can be swapped and assembled at will, letting you craft terrifying steel defenders with overwhelming combat power.[/p][p]The martial world is ever-changing, and word has it that Shaolin and Kunlun are locked in constant conflict. As a peace-loving sect, it’s only right that we step in to mediate. But… what if they refuse to listen?[/p][p]No worries—besides our unstoppable gear warriors, we’ve also developed futuristic black-tech Flying Devices![/p][p]You may have your Dragon-Subduing Palm, but I’ve got my Mechanism Cannons. If they won’t play fair, we’ll make sure they leave with dignity—one way or another.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
AI System Optimization and Enhancement

[p]This time, we've significantly optimized the AI system.[/p][p]Disciples' movements are now more natural and fluid; their behavior is no longer rigidly programmed, but more like real people.[/p][p]Within the sect, you'll see disciples coming and going, practicing or chatting. The sect operates in an orderly and vibrant manner, reminiscent of a true martial arts world.[/p][p][/p]
Development Review

[p]After the public PV release, we received many questions and suggestions from players both at home and abroad. Here we’ve collected some common questions about Eastern Era for interested players.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: What kind of game is this? What is the core gameplay? [/p][p][/p][p]A: Eastern Era is a simulation and management game themed around the construction of a classical Chinese martial arts sect, developed with Unreal Engine 5. Players take on the role of a sect leader on the run from enemies, starting anew in a barren land—recruiting disciples, cultivating resources, and gradually restoring the sect to glory. The core gameplay revolves around sect management: as the leader, you guide disciples, build facilities, recruit and train members, assign cultivation and production tasks, and carefully balance resource flow to maintain sustainable growth. Through interactions with other factions, players must weigh cooperation against rivalry, steadily developing their sect into a major power in the martial world. The game uses a panoramic interactive simulation where disciple behaviors are lifelike and the sect runs in an orderly system, combining strategic planning with the freedom of sandbox-style growth.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: What makes this game unique? [/p][p][/p][p]A: Distinctive large-scale sect battles bring the grandeur of wuxia warfare to life, while creative skill and martial arts combinations let players optimize team compositions. Key features include: custom sect leader creation with detailed face sculpting, cyber-wuxia themes with prosthetics and mechanical augmentations, and dynamic environmental effects. Weather, terrain, and other natural factors influence disciples’ personalities and growth paths, offering differentiated cultivation experiences. Within the simulation and martial world, sects can either pursue secluded cultivation or vie for dominance—building a one-of-a-kind wuxia world.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: How complete is the game now? When will it be released, and what will it cost? [/p][p][/p][p]A: A free demo will be available during the Steam Next Fest on October 13 this year. After gathering player feedback and further polishing, we plan to launch by the end of the year. Pricing is yet to be determined.[/p][p][/p][p]Q: What has been the biggest challenge during development? [/p][p][/p][p]A: Since going public, the game has received tremendous attention and suggestions from players. We’re both grateful and anxious, as our greatest fear is failing expectations. Building upon our previous work, we’ve integrated many new ideas—such as a large open world, dynamic weather (snow, rain, sunshine), and martial sect warfare—while also blending in some of the best community feedback. The biggest challenge has been balancing the core simulation management experience with players’ hopes for an authentic wuxia atmosphere. Striking that balance while adding innovative new systems has been our greatest test.[/p]

July Team Development Progress Update!

[p]Hello dear players, This is the Funyoo Game.[/p][p][/p][p]It's been almost two years since we launched our game. Our entire team has been so busy these days, immersed in development, that we haven't had much time to chat with you all. As a result, many of you who have been following us have been wondering, "What's the current state of the game? When will we be able to play it?" - We're so sorry! We haven't been slacking off yet. We're pushing ourselves to the limit, tackling various optimizations and challenges in the final sprint![/p][p][/p][p]We like to share a heartfelt update on what we've been working on. If you, like us, truly love single-player games, enjoy immersing yourself in their worlds, and enjoy sharing the pure joy of gaming with everyone, then we're sure the stories we're going through will bring a smile to your face, and even a little anticipation![/p][p][/p]
Trailer Review
[p][/p][p]In January 2025, we released our first trailer, introducing the game's world, landscape, and features. We received a lot of support and encouragement from players, which gave us even more confidence to make the game even better. We also received a large number of suggestions, which we have taken note of in detail and will fully consider in subsequent development. We would like to express our special thanks to all our players for their support. It is your encouragement that keeps us moving forward.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]In June 2025, we released our second and third trailers. This time, we showcased more gameplay content, allowing players to directly see the gameplay, UI, controls, and combat. We recorded all of this in real-world gameplay. We hope you enjoy this gameplay and find it enjoyable, fun, and a unique sense of accomplishment found in management simulation games.[/p][p][/p][p]Similarly, after the release of this trailer, we received a large number of suggestions. We understand your needs: you want your sect to lead your disciples to conquer the world, rather than just be a nanny, taking care of their daily needs. We adjusted the release plan, adding many automated features and many interesting props, which will perform tasks and help carry supplies, keeping the sect running smoothly. This allows players, as the sect leader, to lead their disciples to conquer the martial arts world without any worries, and unify the martial arts world![/p][p][/p]
Eastern Era | New Gameplay Revealed: Carve Your Path Brick by Brick, Reveal the World Sip by Bite!"

Numerous enthusiasts, game developers, and media members visited the offline booth to experience and test drive "Eastern Era" and communicate directly with us. We recorded every suggestion and every stuck point encountered by players, and will improve them in the upcoming online demo. Our original intention and goal remains to allow all players who are interested in and enjoy business simulation to experience the charm of "Martial Arts Sandbox" in Zongmen Origin. You will encounter familiar martial arts sects such as Shaolin, Wudang, and Kunlun in this world. Become allies or enemies? Fight or form alliances? The choice is yours.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Recent Dev progress
[p][/p][p]1.Scene Art Optimization[/p]
 • [p]A ray tracing system has been introduced, significantly improving the game's visuals.[/p]
 • [p]The overall scene polygon count has also been optimized, from 20 million to under 4 million. Combined with optimization technologies like Nantie, this ensures stable frame rates on mid-range and low-end graphics cards.[/p]
[p][/p][p]2.Character Model Optimization[/p]
 • [p]Using Unreal Engine 5's latest MetaHuman technology, character models and facial expressions are made as realistic as possible.[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p][p]3.World Map Development[/p]
 • [p]We've created a fully 3D world map. Players can communicate with various sects, trade with cities, and send disciples on expeditions and explore secret realms.[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p][p]4.Continued improvements to the home area.[/p]
 • [p]Added the ability to craft mechanical birds, allowing you to transport goods and free up disciples' time.[/p]

 • [p]Added numerous new decorations and practical furniture.[/p]
 • [p]Optimize combat performance, which will be demonstrated in subsequent PvP events and is significantly improved compared to previous versions.[/p]
