Death Kid Update 1.0.1 – Introducing Difficulty Settings and Endgame Content
Hello!
The first update since full release has just dropped on Steam!
I’ve decided to add difficulty settings to the game: Easy and Normal!
Normal is the standard experience you're already familiar with.
Easy gives you double soul health, giving you more time to learn how to play efficiently and use abilities at the right moments. Enemy speed is also reduced by 10%—a small tweak, but it really helps!
You can choose your difficulty at the start of a new game or change it anytime from the pause menu under Settings. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to restart your run for the change to take effect.
After the update, please double-check your difficulty settings if you're already in the middle of the game!
The default difficulty is now set to Easy, so make sure to switch back to Normal if that's your preferred experience!

For more experienced players, I’ve prepared some endgame content.

After completing a run and finishing the game, you'll be brought back to the HUB area, where you’ll find a mysterious statue.
Activating the statue will unlock Challenge Mode, where the number of enemies is significantly increased.
There are three levels of challenge—or four, if you completed the game on Easy mode.

I highly recommend use every ability in your disposal to clear up hordes of enemies

But hey, if you’re set on just spamming attack, no worries.
You can upgrade your final skill, which gives you +10% damage every time you level it up, infinitely.
And don’t worry about the XP grind. Once you've unlocked all previous skills, the XP threshold for leveling stays the same.
So yeah, you’ll be just fine :p
I’ve also fixed a few issues:
• Enemies now approach at the correct speed from all directions (previously they moved too slowly when coming from the top or bottom).
• Fixed a strange bug where interactions would stop working if you quit to the main menu while inside an interaction trigger.
Big thanks to MoiQ for discovering that one!
I also want to thank you for your support!
