Devlog #8 — Does work ever end? 📶🏭
Hello, Manufacturers!👷
January flew by — way too fast. Most of the time was spent on polishing, testing, and fixing things, because we’re getting ready to announce something big… but more on that at the very end. We also refreshed some visuals, including the logo, and added a few smaller features to the game. Take a look and see for yourselves!
A Taste of the Soundtrack 🎶
Below you’ll find a small sneak peek of the soundtrack, which you can play in the background while reading this news post. Enjoy!
Sound Around You 🔊
We’ve added a radio to the game that plays music in full 3D space, helping set the mood and boost immersion. Using it, you can control what’s currently playing and adjust the volume to your liking.
Making Sure It Works 🔍
We’ve also brought inspection back into the game. Newer and more advanced products will now require proper testing before they can be delivered to contractors. Each item comes with its own unique inspection mechanic, and the system itself has been upgraded to allow testing multiple products at the same time.
Preparing Shipments Properly 📦
To improve balance, we’ve also made a few upgrades to the packing process. First, you can now see how many products are inside each box. And second… boxes finally come in different sizes. As contracts grow more demanding, larger shipments become necessary, so you’ll now be able to better tailor your packages to the job.
Does work ever end? 🛠️

Does the work ever really end? Ours is getting close… just a little bit. We’re finally ready to let you play a demo. Yes, you read that right — Factory Life will have a playable demo during the upcoming Steam Next Fest!
The demo will cover the early stage of production, starting in a grimy garage in the Chinese slums. From assembling low-end junk, you’ll slowly work your way up the ladder, build better products, and even hire workers along the way. We hope you’ll enjoy it!
That’s it for this month’s update! We’re excited to finally share the demo with you, and we’d love to hear your thoughts. Let us know what you’re most excited about or what you’d like to see next, see you later in February!
