Retro Fantasy Music Pack + Sprites Tutorial

A new retro music pack, a new video tutorial and a new version of 001 Game Creator! We have a lot to share today, so let's waste no time and get straight into the juicy details!

Retro Fantasy Music Pack

First and foremost, we've launched a new Retro Fantasy DLC Music Pack that features 20 new fantastical music tracks for your listening pleasure.

While on the subject of resource packs, we want to take this opportunity to let our community know that if anybody is interested in producing graphics for a future asset pack then please get in contact with us through our contact form on our website.

Sprites Tutorial

The first video in our new video tutorial series is now available on our official YouTube channel! This new series will cover resource creation and our first video is specifically focussed on Sprites! Stay tuned for future video tutorials detailing other types of resources like Tile-Sets and Items!

NEW Version (v1.020.006)

We've also updated 001 Game Creator to v1.020.006 with several reported bug fixes and a couple of new additions we'd like to highlight:

- Project Folder - We've added "Open Project Folder" and "Open Saved Games/Data Folder" options to the Tools menu for quick access to your project folders. We often see questions from users asking where their games are stored so this should make things a lot simpler than manually navigating to them.

- Disable Parallax Lighting - We've added a "Disable Lighting" parallax option to control whether a parallax background/foreground is affected by the sun's lighting.

- Resource Packs - We've added a "Downloadable Resource Packs" window to the editor to easily download and import resource packs to your 001 games - including the Free DLC Music Pack we released some time ago (that very few people have been using due to how awkward it was to manually import them).

See the complete list of changes here.

Until next time...

Thanks, as always, for your continued support. We're interested in hearing your feedback on our new Retro Fantasy Music Pack as well as our new Sprites Tutorial so please let us know what you think of them!

New Website New Version!

We have a new version of 001 that fixes a whole bunch of issues and also a brand new website that we're finally unveiling to the public!

NEW Website

After many months of hard work, we've finally built a brand new website for 001! Our old website was looking pretty dated, and a lot of the information was similarly out of date, so we've spent some time creating this new website to provide users with a better experience and to also introduce a host of new services in the process!

NEW Standalone Version - We used to offer a cheaper subscription version of 001 that required users to pay a monthly fee to continue using its features however on numerous occasions we noticed Steam users asking whether they needed a subscription on top of their one-time purchase. It's this confusion which led us to offering a standalone version instead. The standalone version has the same exact features, at the same price as the Steam version but without needing Steam itself.

NEW Game Submission - Our new game submission system allows you to showcase your 001-created games with the world! It also allows for HTML5 games to be submitted and played directly on our website!

NEW Services - On top of that, we've introduced a whole bunch of new services that we'll be offering starting today! These paid services range from one-on-one support to asset creation and even full game publishing/optimisation! Whether you need some assistance where you can speak directly to another person or you need some graphics/music to be created to sprue up your project or you need help publishing and marketing your game on platforms like Steam, then we've got you covered!

Also, all services are currently listed at introductory prices!

NEW Version (v1.020.003)

We've also updated 001 Game Creator to v1.020.003 which contains a host of bug fixes as well as a couple of new additions and changes. Here are some highlights:

- Added importing/exporting of TXT/CSV files for Collection and Table editors respectively.

- Added "Retrieve Position X/Y" options for Fields.

- Made it warn in log when projectiles instantly hit the ground, with a legacy option to disable it; will never show up in built games.

- Fixed AI Actors not going back to post when enemy is too far (it was also not properly triggering "Lost enemy" in that case).

- Improved game load times, especially on HTML5

The following all generally encompass that Actor movement has been resolved in several ways:

- Fixed collision/walking bugs introduced in last version, by properly fixing flat Actors going through the ground.

- Applied smooth Actor auto-climbing to event/AI-based movement and velocity based movements.

- Made Actor auto-climbing higher when Actor's speed is higher.

Until Next Time...

We're still hard at work on our upcoming Turn-Based RPG Template and will have more details to share with you soon! As always, we appreciate your continued support of this project and we hope you're looking forward to seeing what we have coming down the pipeline in the upcoming months!

Steam Summer Sale + New DLC Prices

It's time for Steam's Summer Sale, which means big discounts for 001 Game Creator and its various DLC Kits. We also have an important announcement regarding DLC price changes, so please make sure you read our notice below!

Steam Summer Sale

From Today (June 21st 2018) until 5th July 2018, 001 Game Creator is 60% off with all of our DLC Kits being 30% off!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/347400/001_Game_Creator/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/564680/001_Game_Creator__MMORPG_Kit/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/564681/001_Game_Creator__3D_FPS__Survival_Horror_Kit/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/567360/001_Game_Creator__Point__Click_Adventure_Kit/

IMPORTANT NOTICE: DLC Price Changes

Following this sale, we'll be increasing the base price of all of our current DLC Kits (MMORPG, 3D FPS / Survival Horror and Point & Click Adventure). The reason for this is because we plan on introducing new asset DLC in the future and realised that the template DLC we currently provide is undercut considerably, when you stop to consider just how much content is provided. We also didn't factor in just how much on-going support work would be involved.

If you want to grab these DLC Kits at their lowest price, then now is the time to do so!

NEW Version: v1.020.002

We've also updated 001 Game Creator to v1.020.002. This update mostly consists of bug fixes and minor additions (some of which we've highlighted below). You can see the full change log here: https://www.engine001.com/changes.htm

NEW "Used Item" Trigger - a new Actor trigger that executes whenever an Actor uses any Item, with optional Equipment Area and Item filters. This trigger can take advantage of our Item Constants feature that we added in the last version! See our previous announcement for details on how Item Constants work.

NEW Audio Conversion - right-clicking an audio file (from within the Sounds and Music window) and selecting "Effects" will bring up a new audio conversion window that allows users to convert any audio to OGG or WV format. This is particularly useful when developing HTML5 and mobile games where MP3/MIDI files aren't supported.

UPDATED JDK for Android - we've made Android building work with JDK 8, instead of relying on an outdated (and no longer supported) version.

We've also updated Android building to target Android 8.0.0 (API Level 26) to coincide with new Google Play requirements effective August 2018.

Until Next Time...

We hope you enjoy these version changes and are understanding for our reasons for increasing DLC Kit prices. We have plenty of new content just over the horizon and we look forward to sharing details of those with you soon!

MMORPG Tutorials and New Version

At long last the MMORPG video tutorial series is finished and available for your viewing pleasure. We've also updated 001 with a bunch of cool additions that we've detailed below.

MMORPG Video Tutorials

In this four-part series, you'll learn how online multiplayer games work, how to properly setup your server, how to create different types of NPC Actors, how to create Item/Kill Quests as well as how to create console commands and build your game.

You can watch the full series on our official YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgohPz-X6YwhOamgHq95xH0OQjiZp36d4

Since this series relies heavily on the MMORPG DLC Kit, you'll also need to purchase and install this if you haven't done so already.

NEW Version (v1.020.001)

A new version of 001 Game Creator is now available, with a host of bug fixes and cool additions, some of which have been detailed below:

- NEW "Billboard (3D)" Tile Shape - This is a fairly big addition as it makes isometric games considerably simpler to build and 2D billboards in 3D games will no longer require Actors. Before, users would be required to use Actors for basically everything in 3D/isometric projects (which isn't very performance efficient). Thanks to this new addition this is no longer the case!

We've also made it possible to rotate the camera vertically in isometric projects and made it possible to use the "Save 3D Perspective" Map option for these projects as well.

- NEW Item/Magic Resource Constants - These are similar to Variables and are used to define special values for Items/Magic. Like with other properties of resources, these values cannot be changed through scripting but these values may be retrieved through scripting ("Constant" and "Constants Collection" Item/Magic use values). These are super useful when doing things like status effects, which will be a part of our upcoming Turn-Based Battle DLC Kit.

As per usual, you can find the full list of changes here: https://www.engine001.com/changes.htm

Until Next Time...

We hope you enjoy these new additions and also our MMORPG video tutorial series. We're always listening to community feedback on how we can improve the engine further and what we should be working on next, so please feel free to continue making suggestions that you think will benefit 001 and the 001 community!
