2025 Summary & December Update

[p]Year 2025 has been a kind year for us, we’ve made great advancements in regard to SourceWorld’s development, but first, I want to begin by expressing our gratitude to those who joined along us this journey, donators and new developers of Bronco Development, it is hard to believe that we started this project as a duo, but this year we acquired 2 new developers for this project:[/p][p][/p][p]slayer2704 - OverDrive Project dev / Modeler / Texture Creator[/p][p]GreggHayes – Ex-Tesseract dev / Modeler / Texture Creator / Level Designer[/p][p][/p][p]It is with them that this marks the project’s great development in the future and further endeavors, and without them and those who donated, this project wouldn’t be able to be in the stage that it is, thank you to everyone who contributes and pushes us from the back, we hope to deliver this project to the finish line, and deliver beyond everyone’s expectations.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Before we start talking about what we've achieved and what's new, SourceWorld 2025 Demo OST has been also released! SoundTrack composed by TheAR3Guy and Alex_mmc.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Starting with January - 2025, the project got 4th place in Mod of the Year 2024, voted by the public, which boosted our morale and made us push forward with the project at the time, the article at the time also came with a list up updates for the project: Custom Weapon Base, Low Health Visual Cues, Better Inventory, Item Chest / Containers.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Fast forwarding towards March - 2025, the project gets a Steam page after 2-3 weeks of bureaucratic paperwork, followed by another list of updates for the project, the Multiverse map gets re-worked from scratch into the now known mechanic - scanning the worlds, followed by world hazards that the world may contain, minimap & exploration within the generated worlds, optimizations for the map generator, map change effect / screen-melt effect (Doom inspired by the way), District Security Unit introduction and more classic Levels designed by hand.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Crashing through the rooftop of June - 2025, SourceWorld releases the 2025 Demo on Steam, during the Steam Next Fest event, an article written by PcGamer also releases in regards to SourceWorld’s 2025 demo during the Steam Next Fest, the Demo comes with new updates/improvements in regards to Inventory & Equipment, Weapons Overhaul (Kriss Vector added), Trader Interface (Won’s shop), updated maps & Training Room (Tutorial for introducing newbies into the new mechanics of SourceWorld) and Auto-Saving, saving sure was a chore for all players who played the 2024 demo, but we learn from mistakes, that’s what it takes sometimes to perfect a game.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Driving slowly towards August – 2025, that was the last article we decided on releasing at the time for further developments, during that time, we got slayer2704 in the Bronco Development, and at the same time, the arsenal is receiving new weapons such as the LWRC SMG-45, Tomahawk, M16A2 with M203 Grenade Launcher and Hand Grenades, mechanic wise we started on implementing Status Effects and Armor Changes, Terminal receives new refinements, such as the implementation of Messages, Missions and Files, aside from that, unloading weapons whenever they are equipped or not and enemy drop randomness and type of damage that killed them.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]So now we are in the present, December - 2025 as we release this article, there were plenty of questions before that we have/will have to answer, but most frequent one has been the ‘Icarus has found you, Run while you can.’ which gave quite the terror towards those who found this unfortunate Debug feature that was implemented within SourceWorld for Mapgen errors in particular, this question has been debunked now, but there’s much more we may implement to give you chills down the spine in the future, aside from this SourceWorld ‘ARG’ that has been debunked.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Up until now we’ve worked on implementing new Map Tiles for the map generator, currently having 2 working tilesets and others still on the works, replacing/updating some of the models within the mod, such as the .45 ACP HORSE ammo model and the new SMG ammo box and other ammo models made by GreggHayes, SPAS-12 has received some tweaks as well – now being able to kill 2 zombies with in in a row, Mossberg 590 received some buff – bigger spread for more damage, capable of killing 6 zombies in a single shot, quick use button now highlights items (intractable) in your proximity, heat finisher - a feature which some of you or most might remember from Call of Duty multiplayer which you go third person as you execute a enemy, and item highlight, and lastly, a functional Riot Shield - Don't think of deflecting rockets with it, though.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Another feature that has been developed long ago and also has been seen in the SourceWorld 2025 Demo Trailer is the SWFM (SourceWorld Film Maker) is a script which uses Smooth Camera feature from the Source Engine’s Demo Editor, this feature will be used across SourceWorld for certain scripts and animations in the scenes to make the mod feel somewhat dynamic, currently we’re using this feature for the heat finishers, but we have more plans for using it in the future.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Maybe someone’s still going to ask – Is SourceWorld taking part in 2025’s MOTY? Well, we think that, actively taking part in 2025 MOTY is going to be out of the question this time – we’ve managed to get 4th place last year, but we believe that we won’t get any higher than that this year, past 4th place for the vote to count in this year’s MOTY according to MOTY rules, but who knows, we’re only setting low expectations, and even then, MOTY is mostly for shining a light on the public’s favorite mods after all, maybe this is your favorite mod, maybe it isn’t, to us it doesn’t matter if you like it or not, it’s most likely going to be your kind of vibe or not, we’re not judging, everybody’s got their own tastes, mod development will go as usual.[/p][p]For those interested, here's some Steam statistics since we got SourceWorld on Steam, and SourceWorld Demo out on Steam in June:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]Incredible, right? Got a question? Don't be shy, ask us![/h3][p]By the way, people upload screenshots on the SourceWorld Demo, give it a eye to see what people are posting![/p][p]Click here, since the Community Pages are separate, here's also the screenshot made by thes\[u:]nd in SourceWorld, which is what we've used as thumbnail.[/p][p][/p][p]As a last note: Bronco Development will no longer update the SourceWorld 2025 Demo, until the full release of the mod, the demo serves as a technical demo of what the final product may look like in the future.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
