Devlog #01: The Making of the DreadOut 3 Logo

[p][/p][p][/p]
The Year is New, but the Dread Continues
[p]Greetings Keepers,[/p][p]Welcome to DreadOut 3 Devlog #01! We just got back to work after the New Year break, and 2026 has officially started along with the development of DreadOut 3.[/p][p]First of all, thank you, like HUGE THANK YOU. For the overwhelming response, the support, and yes, the wishlists. Please tell your partner, your spouse, your mom, your dad, your cats, dogs, and even your food delivery guys to wishlist it too, if they haven’t already! :D[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This honestly means more than you might think. In the middle of this sometimes chaotic (but very loving) development process, your support keeps us grounded. For us, each wishlist is a small reminder that someone out there cares, feels excited, and is willing to wait for this game to be born. It reminds us that DreadOut still holds a space in your heart, and that is the responsibility we also carry with our hearts.[/p][p][/p][p]It’s been six years since DreadOut 2, and to be completely honest with you guys, coming back to this series doesn’t feel light or simple. There’s a worry and nervousness attached to it, along with a heavy sense of responsibility. As most of you might already know, DreadOut is where everything started for us as a company, and choosing to continue it meant making a hard decision, and accepting the weight that comes with it.[/p][p]So, this devlog is our opening shot for the updates to come. A small note from behind the screen. A look at something we’ve been building. And something we truly want to share with you.[/p][p]Let’s start with a lite bite, the logo![/p][p][/p]
The Making of the DreadOut 3 Logo
[p]DreadOut 3 is the continuation of our flagship title and remains part of the long journey of DreadOut as a franchise. Although set in the same universe, we wanted each DreadOut series to have its own distinct identity, including the very first thing players see: the logo.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]From the start, we wanted to introduce a new logo for each DreadOut series, as one that feels most aligned with the theme, atmosphere, and story direction of each game. For DreadOut 3, our primary focus was to keep the word "DreadOut" clear, legible, and recognizable, while still allowing for a visual approach that felt distinct from the previous ones.[/p][p]Here are some examples of early DreadOut 3 logo designs that we explored in the early stages of development. During this phase, we experimented extensively with shapes, textures, and visual composition, while finding the most appropriate direction to represent the game.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We realised thhis initial approach bore a resemblance to the DreadOut 2 logo. However, upon further discussion, we decided that this approach felt too safe and lacked a strong sense of character. Furthermore, we felt that the visibility and readability of the DreadOut logo wasn't that optimal, especially when used in various sizes and contexts.[/p][p]Therefore, we decided to try a different approach and develop an alternative logo design. At this stage, we started to be more bold in changing the structure and visual character, without abandoning the DreadOut identity that keeps it feeling part of DreadOut.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]After several iterations and internal discussions, we finally arrived at the latest version of the logo that we currently use: Though this version is still subject to change as development progresses, for now, this is the form that best represents DreadOut 3 and the direction we want to take it. Let us know what you think about the new logo? Try to take a little bit closer look and tell us which one do you prefer best?[/p]
Until next time!
[p]HUGE thanks for your time reading this first ever blog of DreadOut 3 development! Again, if you haven’t, don’t miss wishlisting the game! [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]It’s a long way down for the whole story to unfold. So, stay tuned for the next update, where we'll discuss about Designing Linda Meilinda.[/p][p]

All the best,
