Man of Nollyn Patch v1.02, Ch1 Puzzle Rework

Hello, Detectives of Nollyn.
This is Slater Chae, the developer of "Man of Nollyn",

It’s been just over a month since the Demo launched.
Since then, the game has received far more attention and love than I could’ve ever expected, along with a generous amount of thoughtful feedback from players.
This update focuses on revisions to Chapter One, the current playable section of the Demo.

The changes are as follows.

  • The clue revealed by Miles when bribed or intimidated has been updated.
  • The clue revealed by Mina when bribed has been updated.
Some of you pointed out that Miles’ clue overlapped with Mina’s, and both revealed information that was a little too direct, almost giving away the killer of Harry Heart outright.
Along with the puzzle rework, I've decided to adjust and refine the information these characters share when players choose to bribe or intimidate them.

  • The second question in the investigation has been reworked.
  • A new inspectable object has been added to Harry’s library table.
  • The item [A Small Memo], previously found in Harry’s household ledger, has been replaced.
  • While in Harry's library, Chloe’s explanation of how to calculate the lethal dose of cyanide has been replaced with her interpretation of the newly added item.
  • Harry’s ledger now mentions a new household expenditure.
  • A new inspectable object has been added to the desk in Harry’s bedroom.
To put it simply, you won’t need a calculator to solve the case anymore.
Originally, the Demo included a puzzle that asked players to apply some basic math to reach a conclusion.
The idea was to use numbers as a storytelling tool, as its objective, logical, and undisputable nature.

What I've failed to realize is the fact that not everyone finds such game design engaging.
The truth is, however well-designed a puzzle might be, if it doesn’t resonate with players, it’s not doing its job.
With Patch 1.0.2, that puzzle has been reworked.
The goal was to preserve its logic and precision while steering it in a direction that feels more human, plus more in line with the noir tone of the game.

(ETC)
  • Vin Virosa’s final case explanation has been updated.
  • Franky's dialogue trigger has been updated.
  • Fixed minor typos.

Thank you for checking out Man of Nollyn.
As always, your feedback and support in any form are greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to contact me if you encounter any problems while playing.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Slater.
