BETA PATCH 0.8.d

[p]Hey scouts, we have another patch live now on the Beta branch of the game! This patch has some great quality of life features like an option to reduce camera bobbing and pausing in offline play, as well as some changes to badges and some general bugfixes.

Visit discord.gg/peakgame for instructions on how to opt-in to the beta. As always, the beta branch is not guaranteed to be stable but your bug reports help us guarantee stability for when the update is live for real.

The beta generates different maps if that sweetens the deal....
[/p][p][/p][p]FEATURES:[/p]
• [p]REDUCE CAMERA BOBBING OPTION - You can now go into the settings to enable this option to reduce camera bobbing...[/p][p]Please note that since this game is entirely physics-based, we had to do a workaround solution that’s not entirely perfect. Hopefully this is enough to make the game more playable for those with motion sickness, so please try it out and give us your feedback! [/p][p][/p]
• [p]OFFLINE PLAY PAUSE - The game now pauses in Offline Play!
[/p]
• [p]New biome-specific sunset/sunrise music!
[/p]
• [p]Added two new items to the crash site: the "Flying Disc" and Binoculars.[/p][p]The Flying Disc can bonk like the coconut if you throw it hard enough. The binoculars are binoculars.
[/p]
[p]BALANCE CHANGE[/p]
• [p]Blowgun no longer spawns in Solo Play.
[/p]
• [p]Anti-Rope Cannon now has a weight of 0, has no gravity at all, and the art/icon is updated.[/p][p]We just felt like it. [/p][p][/p]
• [p]Guidebook Scrolls now spawn in chronological order, no matter where you are on the mountain. This should make the Bookworm Badge significantly less exhausting to get.[/p][p]Sorry to everyone who did it the hard way...[/p]
[p]
MAJOR FIXES:[/p]
• [p]YOU NO LONGER WIN IF YOU DIE. [/p][p]So, literally the code that checked if players PEAKED just checked for whether or not you were past the PEAK on the forward axis. It did not check for whether you were alive. This will now prevent players from doing the thing where, by throwing themselves off the cliff or glitching into the void, they would mysteriously win the game.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Total run time is now synced to the host’s time, making sure everyone either does or does not get the Speedrun achievement together. [/p][p]I saw a reddit post where one player got 1;00;00 and another got 1;00;01 and it made me sad.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]You can no longer get multiple ticks on you at once.[/p][p]See we're not that evil.
[/p]
• [p]The Napberry Plant should function properly again.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Yet another potential fix for rare cases where the campfire was unable to be lit. Hopefully it really works this time.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Further reduced the intensity of the explosive spore visual effect to hopefully fix crashes related to explosions.[/p][p]Please tell us if this still happens.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where the screen could turn black permanently if revived while swapping spectate targets.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where the chain launcher would sometimes spawn as a broken version that didn't launch a chain when used.[/p][p]Petter's fault.
[/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where being fed an item by a friend would instead count as them eating it for achievement purposes. (Affected Mycology, Forager, and Gourmand badges)
[/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where, rarely, achievements might fail to trigger for no apparent reason.
[/p]
• [p]The Gourmand badge now properly requires the items to be cooked first before eating. Be careful!
[/p]
[p]MINOR FIXES:[/p]
• [p]Removed access to the cinematic camera we use for recording trailers. Oops. [/p][p][/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where the guidebook wouldn't disappear on your back in first-person if you put it in a backpack.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where your weight on the stamina bar didn't update after placing a piton while climbing.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]Fixed an issue where your controls could get soft-locked if a held Rope Spool was incinerated by lava while you tried to tie it off.[/p][p][/p]
• [p]PUSH-TO-TALK has been added to the Controls page so you can know what it is on gamepad.[/p]

PEAK in 12 Different Languages!
PEAK Patch Notes v1.7
FINALLY. THE LANGUAGES PATCH. You can now play PEAK in WAY MORE LANGUAGES, so now you have no excuse for not learning Rule 0. We’re super thankful that everyone around the world has been playing the game even though it was just in English, but hopefully it's a better experience now. This is our language list for now but it doesn’t rule out the addition of more languages in the future.

We're also officially on GeForce NOW!!!

Patch notes are below with some other changes as well!
LOCALIZATION
Translations are in! The game is now available in the following languages:
• English
• French
• Italian
• German
• Spanish (Spain)
• Spanish (LATAM)
• Brazilian Portuguese
• Russian
• Ukrainian
• Chinese (Simplified)
• Japanese
• Korean
FEATURES:
• Whole coconuts will now bonk scouts when thrown at them. We were considering making every item bonk but then none of you would ever reach the PEAK again.
• Re-added the ability to throw items at fruits and beehives to knock them down. Not sure when that broke but we’re so back.
BALANCE CHANGES:
• Bugle of Friendship will no longer show up in Solo Play
• Rope Spool now has a weight of 1 instead of 0. Anti-Rope Spool and Anti-Rope Shooter now have a weight of -1
• Chain Launchers now cannot be shot above or below a certain angle past the horizon line. This is to remove unintended use cases where a chain launcher shot directly upwards would get you much further than other items – it’s intended to be used for lateral traversal!
• Rope Shooters and Anti-Rope Shooters shoot 50% more rope!
• Anti-Rope Spool and Anti-Rope Shooter physics will now behave differently if you let go of them…
• Made ticks easier to remove in Solo Play
FIXES:
• Fixed an issue where backpacks would become non-interactable. This was a tricky one to solve so thanks for your patience on it!!
• Fixed an issue where the campfire would not be lightable if a friend reconnected to the game.
• We potentially solved the issue where explosive spores crashed the game when triggered. Please try it out and let us know if it works now!
• Fixed a bug where an item held in the temporary item slot would not contribute to your weight
• Fixed an issue where guidebook SFX was not spatialized.
• Players will now fall off pitons when passed out, fixing an issue where, on revival, they don’t experience teleporting back to the piton.
• Potentially fixed an issue where Chain Shooters would spawn with nothing in the chamber.
• Potentially fixed an issue where players screens would go black.

Peak modders are delivering peak modding: here's one that fills your game with the skeletons of dead players

If you've been enjoying Peak, but reckon its towering mountains aren't filling you with enough existential dread, there's a mod you need to check out. It's called Everest, and it fills your game with other players' dead bodies.

Well, skeletons to be exact, and possibly over 10,000 of them by the sounds of it. That's more bones that you'll find at Crufts, and it looks to turn the co-op climbing game from Another Crab's Treasure devs Aggro Crab and Content Warning devs Landfall into the sort of morbid fun you can usually only have by chucking a frisbee around the garden of a crematorium. No, I haven't done that last bit. Yet.
