Following the announcement of Robocop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business, we’ve had some questions about the term standalone and what that means for Unfinished Business.

To start with, as the word standalone implies, Unfinished Business can be played without needing to own RoboCop: Rogue City. This way, players aren’t forced to own Rogue City if they want to play Unfinished Business, or if preferred, you can pick up the standalone on a different platform to which you own Rogue City.

And while Unfinished Business is a sequel to Rogue City, it’s not necessary to have played the original to enjoy the latter. Ultimately, this gives players the option to decide what they want with their purchase. In that case, you might be asking why we’re still using Rogue City in the title. That’s because we’re still using a lot of the same systems present in the original game. Things like the UI, progression, and other systems will feel similar. That’s why we’re not calling it Rogue City 2 or calling it a direct sequel.

Of course, there are new things to be experienced in Unfinished Business. There’s a new storyline with new compelling characters to discover, new weapons, new enemies, devastating finishing moves, and a new setting, the Omni Tower, ascending each layer of a tower turned into a death trap. You’ll also be able to play Alex Murphy before the events of the first film, uncovering more of his past before he became the iconic RoboCop. And that’s not all, but we'll keep some bullets in our Auto-9 for later.
